Silly Aldercreature
- At 11:18 a.m. on Nov. 3, 2009, a call came over the Chicago police radio that Helen Shiller's aldermanic ward (46th) office called to report a homeless man causing trouble. The staff keeps a baseball bat at the reception desk - just in case. The police radio indicated that it may be an assault in progress. Several squads responded by radio that they would respond. I arrived at Shiller's office at 11:28 a.m.
A police car was still on the street, in front of the office, as I walked in and asked why the police had been called. Shiller's staff was evasive, refusing at first to even acknowledge that the officers had been there even as they were still visible through the front window.
This writer got confirmation from an unnamed 023 District copper later and shortly thereafter at a CAPS meeting:
- Later, I attended the 7:00 p.m. CAPS meeting for Beat 2311 in Uptown, just around the corner from Shiller's office. During the questions portion of the meeting, I asked the police officers if they knew what happened at Ald. Shiller's office this morning. Shiller's chief of staff, Denice Davis, interrupted me by loudly shouting "You don't have to answer that!" I responded back to her, "The officers have the right to not answer, but I have the right to ask the question, and you have no right to stop me from asking it."

Human Relations Committee Chairman Helen Shiller (46th) responded: "You're referring to a minor traffic violation as a mistake that you made. This was said regarding an illegal alien that was DUI'd after blowing a stop sign.
Helen Shiller's son has his law practice in another part of the building that her office is in. He specializes in filing suits against police officers. Helen Shiller has a designated parking area behind her office with signs (which look very much like Chicago street parking signs) that indicate "parking only for Alderman Shiller's Office". However, Shiller's son and his law partners frequently direct their clients, many of whom are suing the city and CPD officers, to park in those designated spaces. If any of Helen's stipend for running her ward office is being used to rent or maintain those parking spaces, it is one hell of a conflict for her to allow sonny boy and his pals to let their City suing clients use the spaces for free. In addition Helen serves on the Finance Committee of the City Council which approves all settlements over $100,000 in suits against the city. Has anyone checked to see if Helen has signed off on any settlements for her son or his partners? Where the hell are Chicago's muckraking investigative journalists when you you need them?
Why is the Sgt. allowing the Chief of Staff from an alderman's office to have ANY say about ANYTHING at a CAPS meeting? When I attended these meetings prior to the establishment of the afternoon CAPS Sgt. position, I received requests from time to time from representives from the Alderman's office to allow members of his staff to sit at the table with the Officers. I refused and made them sit in the audience with everybody else. If they had something to say to the citizens they were allowed to stand, turn around and face the crowd and speak. The Chief of Staff from an Aldermann's office is not part of the Police Department and has no business telling anybody anything. Sounds like it's time for the Sgt. to start being a Sgt.
Schiller is the essential ultra liberal nazi. Originally gaining office in the Harold Washington days, her claim to fame was strong support for the poor and downtrodden members of society. She resisted attempts by developers to clean up the slums of Uptown and insisted on section 8 type set asides for the homeless in nearly all new developments and rehabs.
This is still evident as you drive through the 46th Ward with soup lines and homeless everywhere.
Her crown jewel is the billion dollar Wilson Yard development going up by her Ward office at Broadway and Montrose. Chock full of set asides for seniors and other needy persons, it is being financed by the Wilson Yard TIF.
"Shiller, a Democrat, is widely known to be unresponsive to the high crime in her Uptown neighborhood. Shiller is the alderman who was chased from a public meeting by an angry crowd last summer."
This is one of the first of the Aldermen we should target for removal. On Wednesday she is having a fund-raiser "honoring the new Chairman of the Chicago City Council’s Committee on Human Relations". How cool would it be to protest at her fund-raiser and get that on the 10 o'clock news to start the ball rolling!

46th Ward residents do a CAPSy thing called "Positive Loitering" where they gather at gang intersections and locations at specified dates and times in a token yet symbolic effort to take back their streets.
Their elected official, Ald. Helen Shiller has steadfastly refused to stand amongst them.

Alderman Shiller REFUSES to attend CAPS meetings. Now I'm not advocating that a part-time alderman should be going to all these stupid CAPS meetings, but shouldn't you at least try to look interested every once in awhile.

A little something off of this subject; I retired 7 years ago and moved out of the city. I have an occasion to return to the Mt. Greenwood area now and then. ( aplace where I lived for years). I am amazed at how run down the primary business district of Mt. Greenwood ( 111th kedzie) has become. Just plain run down, broken sidewalks, crappy and outdated street lights and run down looking businesses. The residents should demand better from Ginger. I wonder what her plan is for community redevelopment?
The residents of Uptown have demanded Shillers resignation after being nonresponsive or downplaying the numerous violent incidents/shootings that have occurred in Uptown this past year.
They have demanded her apperance at numerous CAPS meetings. Shiller never showed but sent one of her cronies to the meetings.
The residents even went so far as to crash a 2016 Olympic meeting this summer at Truman College and demanded answers to the recent violence in her ward. Shiller ran out the back door to her office with the media and residents chasing her.
The residents are aware that Hellen "Shithead" Shillers son makes his mortgage payments from money he makes by suing the police on behalf of felons. The residents of Uptown are pro-police, and believe it is a direct conflict of interest that Shithead's son makes a living suing the police. There was even talk about Shiller resining and appointing her son to her aldermanic position. We cannot let this happen!!!
The residents are tired of Shithead continually adding section 8 housing in her ward, including the Wilson Yard monstrosity that is being built from TIF money which will house mix income housing, including section 8.

Always had a strong feeling that Schiller had strong ties to the Vice Lords, which was later confirmed by other ranking gang bangers.
Any PO who has worked up there knows that Schiller prefers keeping much of her ward Slummy. She has made a career off of representing lowlifes and the chronically alcoholic homeless and real economic development and social normalcy are significant threats to her political franchise. She'll side with a black CVL or white or Native American homeless alcoholic over the police or a legitimate citizen anytime. The city city will be a better place when she eventually loses election. Even the super liberal gay vote of her ward has come to realize the futility of her politics. Hopefully when she loses, her sons law office with lose some of its clout or at least it parking privileges. Seldom has one person done so much to hold back a whole neighborhood.

I'm not a cop and I don't even play one of you on TV. However, for those you from Mount Greenwood I probably had sex with your sisters long ago when I was thinner and better looking, so this intrusion should be considered minor.
The best way to find out about Helen Shiller if your feeling so inclined is Uptown Update. It's the blog that the Wilson Yard TIF developer subpoenaed earlier this year. Turns out his attorney shares an address with the aldercritter's son. Purely coincidence, I'm sure.

I know this may surprise some of you, but she has a history of idiotic statements and positions. Like roadkill my politics tends to be middle of the road and she is far far to the left. At least Tom Mannis, the member of the vast right wing conspiracy, who wrote the story of the police response to her office has a sense of humor. That's unusual for anyone that far right or left.
As for the Wilson Yard TIF comments it isn't billions of dollars. Merely a hundred million or so after it is all done. It's hard to know exactly how and where the money is being spent because HIZZONER treats TIFS like the plans to the Normandy invasion. Top Secret! I of course wonder if any mayoral relatives have their beaks in the TIF honey pot.
It is clear that tens of millions have been spent on building nearly 200 units of low income housing and as best as anyone not named Daley can tell the individual unit cost is somewhere north of $400,000. That is more than the average price of a three bedroom, two bath condo on a good block around here. Yes, Mt Greenwoodites there are some decent blocks around here. There are even some cops who live around here. Why just yesterday "Big Daddy" and I discussed the relative merits of Guinness and donuts in a thread about some gangbangers being arrested in Uptown.
The mayoral and aldermaniac elections are 15 months away. In the 46th Ward we already have three candidates running against the Alderbeast.
1. Gerald Farinas a gay former aide to former Senate hopeful Alan Keyes. I know it sounds like I'm making that shit up, but I'm not. A gay man supporting Alan Keyes is like a chicken being the spokesbird for KFC.
2. James Cappleman. Ran against Shiller in 2007 and gave her a good scare. Gay, social worker, long time community activist. He and his partner are heavily involved in CAPS and the positive loitering.
3. Michael Carroll. Chicago cop. Peace Corps volunteer. Brother is an Assistant States Attorney.
There are others who may run too.
I'll be supporting the Capplemaniac because I think he is likely the best candidate to oust Shiller. He's now an experienced campaigner and has been working hard to build up his support. If Carroll or someone else ends up facing Shiller in a runoff I will be supporting anyone not named Shiller.
Oh well. Please feel free to bash Shiller all you want. I don't know if she is the worst alderman in the city, there's a hell of a lot of competition, but I do know she is a rotten alderman.
Shiller and Joe Moore are in the same class. Both of them win re-election by telling their less fortunate constituents the white people don't like them and want them out of the neighborhood. Helen and Joe are two of the biggest race baiters in the city, right behind the reverends.
Like Helen, Joe never attends a CAPS meeting, he doesn't get involved in neighborhood walks, and only shows his face when the TV cameras are rolling.
We need to unite and cut the number of alderman in Chicago. They have ruled with an iron fist for way too long.

I say again who is going to raise the money to put up a good campaign to run against her. A police officer in my mind would be a really god candidate for that office due to the high crime. I say again you could raise $100,000.00 at least to be a viable candidate? Are CPD going to be able to raise that money alone? The son lawyer suing the city along with momma's questionable dealings with the city is definately something to look into ...ethics violations if anything. Now if FOP we to target Aldermen and run their own candidates, along with CFD and teachers and other city employees, we then they would really FEAR US.

The working people of uptown should be sick and tired of her. When all the thugs and non-working people of uptown push to have her elected and vote for her, it should be a HUGE RED FLAG!!! She has made a lot of money off of the residents of uptown and could care less about the honest ones.

You want a real conflict of interest? Ald. Bob Fioretti made his fortune suing the police for civil rights violations. He has billboards on every bus stop in his ward. Now he votes on settlements his firm negotiated. This is meaningless compared to the real issues. It's time to for the politicians in this town to finally settle the fatty duck liver issue. Every one of these assholes is involved in criminal activity.

There was a VERY viable candidate running against her last time and he almost won it.
Look up the old stories, find his name and BACK him. HELP him. He said he would run again, so he probably will. We don't need some new candidate muddying the waters.

You would not win elections with money
1.- have a decent lawyer
2.- have enough foot soldiers(volunteers)to do the canvasing/petitions
3.-have enough precint captains(volunteers)
4.-poll watchers during elections(volunteers)
5.- enough palm card handlers(volunteers)
6.-few judges in some of the most controversial precints (volunteers)
7.-enough supporters on election time.
