This is a Problem Why?
Just call it Toddler's Gladiator School:
- Accused murderers, robbers and rapists in Cook County Jail's oldest maximum-security complex often use toothpaste caps and toilet paper to jam their cell doors and sneak out.
Sometimes, they don't even need to resort to such tricks. The aging locks in the doors malfunction on their own.
"Some of them are so bad they can literally slide the door, give the door a little jiggle, and it will slide open," a Cook County sheriff's correctional officer said.
As long as the last door in the wall is functioning properly, we have a hard time generating any sort of sympathy for murderers, robbers and rapists. Besides, with all the open cells and beds Dart was talking about this past summer, they should be able to close Division I and raze the building, right?

I'm surpeised that the 19th ward democRAT, political hack, Dart would even admit that there is a problem. Without clearing it with his god shortshanks, first.
Off topic but I would like to thank the 47 Sam Unit for all their help at Evergreen Terrace as well as the tact team from 018. A true pleasure to work around some go getters. Special thanks to those Officers in Army green that showed up. dont know who you are but thank you none the less. While it isnt the Jets like we know them to be, there is plenty of hunting to be done there. See me when you need paper signed. Thanks again gentlemen.
L-1.
He's grooming them so he can hire them and pay them large salaries. All toddlers homies work for the County.
This situation isn't a Toddler problem, it's a DART problem. Harry Potter better get his shit together, and fast.
Taxes for a new jail, just a trial shot.
Just let them sleep in the open yard in tents.
I think the issue would be for the safety of the correctional guys working there. im a copper who used to work at the jail before getting on w CPD. Once you enter into the jail you arent allowed to carry your weapon, and when i was there we didnt have asps, batons or anything else. Not sure what its like now, but fact is the COs are there with murderers and rapists and nothing but fists to defend themselves, so it could be a safety issue if the doors dont stay locked
Ladies and Gents. I worked in Div I of the county Jail back in the mid 90's. The cell doors didn't work back then either. The cells were jammed with AA and AAA batteries (the shit birds used to have radios). The inmates have three doors to go through after their cell door just to get off the tier. They are going nowhere and will not escape.
This crap about bottle caps is old news. The doors were fixed later in the 90's. The CO makes sure nothing is in the door jam when you close the door. Tell the Correctional Officers to close the doors themselves on the inmates and he won't have this problem. Thats part of their job assignment. I understand the jail has been neutered for some time now but come on, close the doors.
SCC I am surprised you forgot about everybody's best friend the trial lawyers. When one of these honor students gets stabbed and killed we the law abiding tax payers we get stuck with the payout of a few thousand or alot more. The lawsuit is a gimmie for even the worst of lawyers. Cell doors don't lock equals no safety which equals payout.
I want the doors to lock because I don't want any more money to go to some asshole with 8 kids by 6 different women at age 22 to get paid. The biggest morons on this planet (The jury pool in civil trials)
will give out $100,000 in white guilt. I don't think I have to say anymore.
Illinois prepares for early release of prisoners
November 1, 2009
The Associated Press
Illinois hopes to save millions of dollars by releasing about 1,000 prisoners during the next few weeks, and some nonviolent inmates will be released up to a year early.
I'm sure no one really is concerned about the inmates, but what everyone must understand is that every time the inmates pop out of their cells and attack each other the officer assigned to the Tier is hung out to dry in the following manor.
1. De-Deputized. (No Secondary Employment)
2. Put under OPR(IAD) investigation.
3. Moved from their bided positions.
4. While under investigation officers are not allowed to move on with their career. So that means no promotions or special unit/assignments.
5. Average time for an OPR investigation is 9+ months at the moment.
So for everyone who thinks this isn't important please take the time and think about what I have said...
Speaking of Gaurds...
Do we still have police gaurding entrances and exits to the districts?
Any input?
Great training grounds for Gladiators, nice idea SCC....
We can use the county jail to train trainers for the Chicago Public Schools "Circus Maximus".
No big deal I worked in jail, Division X, and they would always put paper or such in doorlocks so they wouldn't lock. They just led to dayroom.....
Tom DART is the problem.
He is busy:
1. Rescuing Puppies
2. Preventing evictions of Non Paying tenants
3. Trying to get the Black Vote
4. Getting his Face on TV
Hopefully soon he will be the citys problem. He has already screwed the county up enough,
Due to him (DART) there are very few unemployed lawyers around. He has filled the Sheriffs department with many many $100,000.00 + a year police & deputy supervisors with law degrees.
What a joke.......
Tom Dart, the Ultimate Defender against the crimes against Humanity: Craigslist whores, Bullshit Ghetto Dog Fighting and Poker machines in Hillbillly suburbs. We should all feel safer now!!

Not at Area 1. The cheapest keypads that they could find were installed and are no doubt, soon to break and not be repaired. However, there's still a P.O. sitting at the back door of Area 2 doing a real bang up job. I walked through the back door in civilian clothes with no star or i.d. showing. That was wrong, I know, but when she asked if I needed help I simply said no and continued upstairs.
