Byrne Lied
Three days since snow and our street is still a sheet of glaze ice. Our Districts are even worse.
We've only seen one snow plow the entire time doing one north/south main street. We assume there must have been another one because the main street running east and west was also clear yesterday.
Other than that? We'll let everyone else judge the efforts of "Snow Command." Even this minimal response is a step up from last year, but then again, there was nowhere to go but up.
Broken water mains spotted? Six. Clogged sewers turning corners into ice jams? Eleven. But it may thaw out over the weekend, so that's OK, right?

I live on a West/East bound side street on the NW side, and was totaly amazed when a plow w/salt came down my VERY narrow street at 0100. Wonder what the over time for that was! At least my street is cleared.
Don't discount the freeze thaw cycle and its impact on asphalt. All that cold patch is going to heave and we are going to be pothole city times three overnight.
It will look like a squadron of B52's carpet bombed every street in Chicago shortly.

On Zone 1 last night 16th dist officer handling 2 accidents on same block called for a salt truck to block as it was a sheet of ice. Dispatcher responded that they are not taking calls for that at streets. Gotta love it.

Gee a high ranking daley government official (former CPD) lied, now there's a shocker! When Byrne gets dumped for some embarrassment Daley will appoint his golden boy, Ron Huberman and proclaim, "When Ron Huberman is on the job, I don't worry." Byrne ought to call Huberman for advice so daley won't worry.

He knows that he can do whatever he wants including just standing there and lying through his teeth and he won't get voted out of office. He can shit all over regular people and they will still vote for him and ask for more.
I think Byrne lied about his height when becoming a Police Officer in 1970, the rules than you had to be 5-10. Lets get the tape measure or has he strunk over the past years.
Last winter in my district squad cars were taking so much radio time calling in collapsed sewers that the sergeants told us to stop it unless it was dangerous to traffic. The reports of collapsed sewers continued, of course, since it was dangerous to traffic.
Then the sergeants just ordered us to stop. I myself reported several collapses several times a week for months. They weren't repaired until summer 2009.
This winter I am reporting collapsed sewers daily and keeping a log of dates/times/locations of collapsed sewers and caved in streets together with digital photos and sending it to news media. That nice 3 megapixel cell phone of mine works just fine for that.
We must do our part to get shortshanks voted out of office. One of his favorite tricks is to make people look bad. It shouldn't be too hard do the same to him, regularly and releatedly.
We can all unite to do that I am hoping.
Maybe Daley is trying to save money so he has something to take with him. I wouldn't be surprised if this is his last term. He needs something to live on when he goes.

Torrence Avenue between 95th Street and 130th Street already leads the City in the number of metal patches and new potholes. It might be time to barricade the street to prevent cars from completely disappearing!

Ainslie running E/W between Pulaski and Kimball is one big sheet of ice. There are stop signs at every street and cars slide hoping they can stop. Why don't they salt that street?

Oh yes, I saw the truck go down the street but wasn't plowing or salting - probably circuling the block looking for a spot to park and have something to eat/drink! Byrne is doing a better job than Pacardi ever did. My streets are very clear and free from ice. Dont bad mouth the job the man is doing because you have a dislike of him personally. Like it or not, Tom Byrne is and was a hard worker, even though he is connected.

A few years back, he went ver everyones head and whispered in Daley's ear to make 001 and 018 a separate area, thus Central Control Group was born and who was in charge? None other than Thomas Byrne. Then he leaves this department and suddenly has this job and maybe one more prededing this, I can't remember. He has very few friends on this Department on any level. He is a cut-throat, pint sized little person with a BIG ego. Shit...even his relatives hate him. What more can you say? I am sure edgebrook - wildwood was clear and salted all night. God forbid he skids a little, he might miss the pedal block on his brake pedal and wipe out.

Daley is selling everything to private contractors and business because he's not going to run anymore and with everything in hands of the private industry and contractors he's set for life and the next Mayor will be Mayor of nothing but empty bank accounts and NO tax revenue. Research the business buying those city assests and you'll see all nephews and neices plus a few commissioners and x-chief of staff all working and partly owning those companies under a state of Deleware in-corporation laws. Why be Mayor and have the FEDS after you when you can sell everything for 75 years and make a bundle consulting those companies.
Well I live on the Northwestside and Im still waiting to the see the first salt truck. I live on a north south street and the street was a sheet of ice but no plow and no salt, just good old sunshine and warmer temps to take care of it.. Way to go Byrne just like when u were on the job!
