Huh?

  • Mayor Daley today cracked the door open to providing a government subsidy for cash-strapped McCormick Place, but only if the convention center cleans its own house first and ends price gouging that has triggered a trade show exodus.

“If it costs you $40 [an-hour] to set this up, why are you putting another $60 on? You’re saying the cost is $100. It’s really not $100. It’s only $40,” Daley said.

“Before you get all the subsidies throwing money at this, you first have to correct and rebuild the foundation. ... Let’s not talk about subsidies now. Let’s first correct what you have in-house. ... First, re-organize what is happening at McCormick Place.”

Once again, we thought Daley was broke. He's been saying so for a year or two now.

Second, they're charging that amount because (A) they can and (B) they have to pay for all the do-nothing middle managers who ghost payroll. Has anyone noticed the number of six-figure jobs that appear in the McPier budget? It's amazing. It's almost like it's run by the Outfit.

All you have to do is cut out all the 19th Ward political hack families from the jobs at McCormick Place and you'd say a ton of money right off the top.

Extract from Fr. Tom Nangle's "When Coppers Cry" column in December FOP Newsletter, p. 10:

**********************************

Bill Cozzi has called me from prison in Louisiana a number of times, always on Sunday nights around 8 p.m. I always feel humbled he'd spend a precious phone call on me. Be advised: Conditions are very bad there. He always asks me to thank you for your mail and books and kindness, and he always says how much he loves and misses Chicago and his CPD. When we get off the phone after our 15 minute limited conversation (interrupted periodically by a robot saying "This call is from a federal prison") I am always very angry and profoundly disgusted at what happened to him. I know what he did; frankly, that's what police work looks like sometimes: physical, messy, emotion-charged, and subject to intense analysis. And frankly, I wonder what has happened to the power of 13,000 (more or less) police officers, that one of their own could be treated like this and there's no demonstration of outrage other than the rants and support...on the Internet.

P.S.: Please don't call me and ask me if I'm OK, or "What's wrong?" I just got off the phone with Bill Cozzi. I'm fine. He's not. Please consider adding this address to your Christmas cards:

42 extra-short is full of shit...
Notice how he fell over himself trying to back away from some earlier statements that could be construed as threats that he was going to go after/bust the labor unions at McCormick Place like he's going after every other union. (It seems mayor tough-guy won't say shit to the Teamsters even if he had a mouthful) Don't wannna antagonize da big men behind da big boyz over by dere, ya know?

As far as money goes... It's hilarious that this wee cocksucker is spending like a drunken sailor from the actual budget (can't touch the "shadow budget" now can we?) just so he can stand in front of the arbitrator at the moment of truth, with his pockets turned inside out like rabbit-ears and mumble about there's no money to help pay for raises for "dese greedy coppers." Yes there is ya little knee-walking muthafukkah... Get on the horn and have your dead-beat nephew return the money YOU TOLD/ALLOWED HIM TO STEAL from OUR PENSION plus his tidy little "commission" from that horse-shit venture.

Oh and while we're at it... Tell that prison bitch in training son of yours to cough up the dough from that kinky sewer deal.

When the hammer falls, we hope the lot of you end up being bunk mates with the "Tossed Salad Man..." He said he prefers syrup...

Seal off City Hall, fumigate the living shit out of it, hose out the vermin and start over from scratch...

Read long the piece in Crains detailing how various well connected persons have redundant 6-figure jobs with ambiguous titles. And read how our staffing levels measure up to Vegas and B-orlando. Excellent investigative report.

And read, too, how McCormick bonds are going to soon become the responsiblity of the taxpayers to the tune of a couple hundred million a year.

It does indeed look exactly like an Outfit operation.

Ah, the old Bull cop "Old Retired Guy" beat me to it.

42 short as you guys call 'em takes his orders from the outfit.

I mean, come on, mayor Daley is shocked, just shocked there are mark-up costs going on over at McCormick Place???

Where was the mayor's investigative prowess when the first convention left town after being tired of being gouged?

You'd think the mayor would have put a stop to the upcharging by bitching about it years ago like he is now. You know, stopping that piggish shit as fast as say he stopped planes landing at Miegs or as fast as he began evicting people from homes around O'Hare or as fast as the pension boad gave 68mil to the start-up Incestment firm DV Urban Realty. Oh right, he didn't know or care to know a year or two past why convention business was fleeing Chicago.

Nothing in our lives is a first based upon the history of mankind. Everything, has alread happened in the past albiet it may have been forgotten or obscured by the minor variations of the events and players.

Below is a link to a 1933 article from Time magazine outlining the corruption in Chicago and the skimming of about a billion dollars. A billion dollars in 1933 is like 16 billion today.

http://tiny.cc/ag2V3

Around the middle of the last Century when McCormick Place was an idea that threatened the cash cow of Bill Wirtz and others, a Chicago Alderman who was inclined to cast a vote in favor of the McCormick place project was abducted by a group of men right in his driveway right in front of his wife and he was never seen again. Some say his bones are in the foundation of McCormick Place. I think it was 1951 and the Alderman's name was Clem Graver. Look it up.

As the Time article reflects, good people knew who the evil were but justice was thwarted from the bench and/or by other fixes and now we the grand and great-grand children of the citizinery of the 1950's find ourselves in the same cesspool of graft as they were in but perhaps a little less bloody.

If the past is any indication it probably will continue and Blago will return as Cook County Clerk.

But then again....maybe Blago and Daley will be locked up. For the first time in a long time people are seeing the destruction of our country.

P.S. The union referred to in the Time article of 1933 which Oscar F. Nelson Presided over is the union the SEIU, OBAMA's pet union, was born from.

Haven't all those working at McCormack Place heard what has been going on for the last 20 years? Ever hear the term "Global Economy?" "Working smarter?"

All that nonsense was tolerated years ago when corporations were awash with money. But due to rising international competition, and increasing tax burdens by the likes of Daley and every Dumbocrat, they have gotten leaner and meaner.

The "they'll pay whatever" days are over.

The corporations now go to Vegas, especially in winter. Easier to get in and out. They like corporate jets there. They don't plow up runways in the middle of the night like some tyrants do.

If your son or daughter went to a public school, over a Catholic school, in beverly/Mt. greenwood area, I know for a fact that they will use that against you.

Not sure how it works for North side, West side, etc, but for the 19th Ward, right from the horses mouth, if you did not pay for Catholic grade school that is a knock against you.

Good luck, hope that helps. That is all I KNOW about Iggy.

Instead of Iggy, look into Fenwick,
my kid graduated from there this year, and did very well w/ multiple scholarship offers to excellent colleges, including full tuition. Tuition is lower than Iggy & Loyola, good mix of kids from all over, generous tuition scholarships, really supportive & involved faculty. We say it was the best decision we ever made for this child.

Lots of CPD, CFD, Streets & Sans parents there, so it's not all wealthy parents.

We looked at Iggy and didn't like that they had a "family admission policy".. if they took the 1st kid in a family, they took the rest of the kids... even if the behavior or grades didn't make the cutoff.

Loyola was too far away, and seemed to stress nonacademics.

Check this out and see where the Fenwick kids go to college.
