Early Release Scandal Grows

  • More than a dozen men released from prison early after a secret policy change by Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn’s administration are back behind bars - most of them accused of new, violent crimes.

A law enforcement official tells The Associated Press that the prisoners were picked up again for such crimes as domestic battery, unlawful weapons use and aggravated battery. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of restrictions on talking to the press.

"More than a dozen?" It seems like the campaign ads will just write themselves over this one. Hopefully, it gets pinned on Quinn in time for the opposition to take advantage. As long as the opposition isn't some panty waist like Jim Ryan who has already promised to support any Shortshanks anti-gun legislation that gets passed.

If Jim Ryan "the R.I.N.O. Libtard" is the Republican candidate for Governor I will vote third party.

If Dan Hynes has any expectation of winning he should ride this issue without mercy. I wouldn't vote for Jim Ryan under any circumstances after he f'ed up the death penalty in the state.

Well thank God that he saved Turbin Durbins friends from our Nazi servicemen and brought them to Illinois. Maybe they can be released

The blame should have been put on Benos in IDOC. She is number 2 in charge at IDOC. She is a Blago underling, who worked for him on congressional staff regarding public policy. Randle was caught in the middle.

Hello, there is a reason people are in prison. They didn't get there by accident.

Quinn sure did a quick about face and screeched "it wasn't my fault" when this all went to shit. Of course it wasn't, it would only be Quinn's doing if all went well, otherwise it is the flunky's fault. We get the picture, we've seen that one before 'gov.

At least 18 of Quinn's early-release jailbirds accused of new crimes

Earlier this month AP discovered that Illinois Governor Pat Quinn approved the release of 850 prisoners, secretly, in a cost-cutting move.

The other shoes--at least 18 of them--are dropping, as AP digs deeper.

At least 18 men released early from prison under a secret program in Illinois are back behind bars, most of them accused of committing new, violent crimes, The Associated Press has learned.

Some were arrested just one day after they were freed. The new allegations against them include domestic battery, unlawful weapons use, aggravated battery and assault, according to a law enforcement official familiar with the records. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of restrictions on talking to the press.

The men were among 850 who were released in the fall after as little as three weeks behind bars after Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn's administration's secret policy change that was reported by the AP earlier this month. The men's average time in state prison was just 16 days and their convictions included drunk driving, using drugs and battery and weapons violations.

In an effort to save money, the Corrections department changed a practice that required all inmates to stay at least 61 days. The inmates were awarded up to 180 days of good-conduct credit as soon as they entered prison, allowing them to leave almost immediately.
---

God forbid he should try to save money on corruption and waste. No, let criminals out of prison, that will save money, that's the ticket.

Here's one quick fix sure to save some dough: fire the entire Illinois Tollway Board, take over their opulent HQ and sell it. Put a new streamlined low cost operating group in a steel industrial building and tell them to do the job or they will be out of work too. There are plenty of out of work people in private industry who could do a better job than these fart-through-silk fucks who work for the Illinois Tollway.

Don't let this be the only issue you decide your governorship vote on. And don't transpose feelings about national issues onto this race. Most of these Republicans are not your friend when it comes to the pension issue. Personally, I think Hynes, followed by Quinn as a close second are the best choices in this race for our interests.

Quinn, in typical Daley form, through an underling under the bus, when in reality the policy of letting non-violent criminals out of jail early to cut the budget. It is Quinn's fault.

Many years ago at the 26th St Mexican independence parade goof ball Jim Ryan marched down 26th St in front of the contingent parading to free a New York cop killer. Jimbo was running for some office as the time, I don't remember which. He shook hands with every gangbanger he could and avoided eye contact and handshakes with all the police officers who lined the street. What a piece of shit he is!

SCC, good to see you put out the truth early about Jim Ryan. Voting for Ryan is voting for politics as usual in Illinois (Ryan is already the big frontrunner. The liberal media are already pushing him). Madigan moved up the primaries to early Feb to make sure the encumbants win. We have to tell our friends and family to do some research and not vote for the same useless pols over and over again. The average Republican in Ill would be considered very liberal in the South.

We have to wake up and not vote for names we are familiar with. That is how the problem gets started.
We as a people in the state of Illinois have to say enough is enough. Go to pro gun and anti tax sites. They already have lists of who you should vote for in Illinois. The only name on one Tax Accountability site (www.NTUI.org) most of us would be familiar with is John Garrido (I don't know the man). The site specifically blasts Mark Kirk and Jim Ryan. The site is not a republican site.

Enlighten yourselves CPD and all other readers of this site. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!!!!! Now go out and vote!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd appreciate if anyone can post some positive and/or negative facts about DILLARD. /thanks

I thought Quinn was an honorable man over the years and found him to be a likable fellow. However, after this hugh fuck up by releasing these criminals that we as police officers work so hard and take risk nobody would take to capture them and keep them from victimizing more citizens, it's time I have to take a serious look at Dan Hines for governor. Sorry Pat, what you did to the people of our state is unforgivable.

The Democratic machine isn't concerned with your family's well-being; they are much more interested in appeasing the ignorant, uneducated, non-taxpaying stable of voters regardless of how uncivilized said savage constituents act. After all, these dregs of society are the Democrats bread and butter.

Watch for the usual contingent of race-baiting, pseudo-reverends and agenda-driven liberals to take up the cause on behalf of the "wrongfully imprisoned" miscreants involved in this latest debacle. Rhetoric concerning lack of capable legal representation, deplorable jail conditions and minimal rehabilitative programs are just a few of the excuses that will be spewed forth in support and defense of the poor, pigeonholed, misunderstood career criminal. Fully expect the race card to be played to it's maximum potential, complete with cultural and ethnic-based explanations in a feeble attempt to justify recidivism in certain demographics.

I shudder to think of what's possible when the Gitmo "detainees" are eventually housed downstate.

I foresee bleeding-heart liberals taking up collections to make sure the terrorists are provided with their Korans and cultural/religion-specific meals while the ACLU contracts "Prison Guard Watch" to surveil the prison grounds to make sure the detainees are allowed to bow to the East three times a day.

Arm yourselves, and arm yourselves heavily, good citizens. And don't be afraid to drop the hammer when the time comes.

I'm going with Kirk Dillard. Anyone that is endorsed by former Governor Jim Edgar is good enough for me. Edgar was the only Governor in my lifetime( I'm 56 yoa) that had the balls to stand up to Daley and his organized crime family commonly referred to as the Democratic Party of Cook County. But I really do wish Edgar would make a comeback. We need him now more than ever.

when the news of this decision first surfaced, it was appalling. who wouldn't have predicted this would blow up in their faces? then, we have the ol' pass the buck routine, with the gov publicly placing blame and admonishing his second hand man. like he played no role in this. more like, this political maneuver was a plan all along. i wonder how much that second hand man is/will be getting?

Liberals are going to ruin this great country if we let them. Many comments on this forum predict that Chicago will be the next Detroit. Check out this link about Detroit.

Pretty sad what liberals can do when their social experiments end like this.
