A Chicago police officer fired last month for physically attacking two fellow officers who were arresting her son is asking that a judge review her termination.
The Chicago Police Board on Nov. 19 found Officer Kimberly Marshall guilty of biting and striking the officers and calling in an officer assistance radio call to prevent her own arrest after she tried stopping the officers from arresting her son, Hoyle.
In a complaint filed Wednesday at the Cook County Circuit Court, Marshall claims that her firing wasn't in accordance with the law and was made "against the manifest weight of the evidence," and asks a judge to review it for a possible reversal.
Members of the police board found Marshall guilty of all six accusations she faced in connection to the May 31, 2005 incident. The altercation occurred after Marshall's then-15-year-old son was involved in a traffic accident on the city's South Side.
Marshall, an officer since March 1990, got into a verbal and physical confrontation with the officers as they tried arresting her son, who was riding in his mother's car without permission, according to the board.

The Captain called me over and started talking about nonsense, then I looked out of the corner of my eye and watched the desk Sgt. walk the arrestee out the front door and all my paperwork disappeared.
Boss's son. Boss's phone call beat me to the station. That's how it was. That added to my growing suspicion that some things were not 100% legit on this job.

I had the misfortune of working next to her for a short period of time. I told my wife that I have never met a more ignorant person on this planet. All she does is crochet. When she does answer the phone all she does is belittle the police when they call. Everytime she puts a copper on hold they are stupid, idiots, dumbasses, don't know anything. She isn't going to jail because the would embarrass whatever clout she has. And as far as J-Fed is concerned, she attacked a police officer and they don't count. Remember boys and girls, whenever we find ourselves on the receiving end of any physical or verbal assault it's "Part Of The Job", so tough it up.
Now if we find ourselves on the giving end......it's 30 days pending. Examples of situations that could get you this would be any type of arrest where: 1)The offender was just about to turn his life around. 2)The offender gave you the name of their clout but you still DARED to put your hands on them to lock them up. 3)Or they use an old but still useful ploy and that is the Race Card.
The sweetest day I will ever have on this job will be the day I retire and watch this shit hole of a city recede into the distance as I fly to my new home in the south-west.

The range instructer (who should have failed her immediately and threw her off the range) instead picked up the shotgun, hovered over her while she had her arms folded and fired the remainder of the course and then passed her saying "its not like she is ever going to sign out a shotgun"

Crying happens a lot in CPD, usually from those without clout to get what they want. It usually works too for small stuff around the district.

I was there that day I have never forgot it. Our group 90-1 was very racially divided. We had her, Dexter Yarbrough (Google his name for a laugh) and VM (Aka Beer stealer and got a PPO fired). They were out and out racists. She couldn't fire the Shotgun. Didn't pass her tests but magically passed after hours and when she tried climbing the 6ft wall it looked like 2 pigs fighting under a blanket.
If you are screwing up and able to come back over and over again because of your clout, your clout is an asshole. Your clout is one of the assholes that has destroyed this once fine dept. I wish they'd give a recognition award for that. Some clout will punish you for fucking up. That's the clout you want to work for.

Yes, I believe people deserve second chances. Weigh the merits of the officer against the actions of the screw up. Is this a repeat offender that's been warned repeatedly? By what I'm reading it sounds like it. There was a PO in another district that always defended her son (years ago) She screamed like a banshee yet never attacked a copper, used profanity, called for reinforcements, or impeded the arrest. She knew we had to lock him up and we knew she didn't want her kid going to jail. We had an understanding.
