McCotter's New Job

On the heels of at least one murder and 50 parolees headed back to jail, Governor Quinn is changing direction so fast, he may have left his teeth behind:
  • As his primary election rival poured on the criticism over the state's early release of prison inmates, Gov. Pat Quinn tried to dampen the issue Wednesday by appointing a longtime Chicago police officer to oversee release programs.

Quinn appointed Michael McCotter as chief public safety officer at the Illinois Department of Corrections, a position he announced last week after halting a program that let convicts out of prison extra early by awarding them good-time credit at an accelerated pace. McCotter, who had just announced his retirement from the Chicago Police Department, held several top posts over a nearly 40-year career.

Part of his job will be to "bird-dog each and every one of these inmates with respect to early release," Quinn said.
One would imagine that instead of having to "bird-dog" all these applications, the governor and legislature would just make sure people sentenced to 6 years serve, in fact, 6 years. Or maybe 10 years actually means 10 years. But that would be too simple.

In any event, speculation is rife as to whom will succeed McCotter. His retirement papers are dated for February.

Go, Mike! (And I bet the governor isn't asking him to take a month of unpaid 'furlough' days.)

Speaking of Madigan, has anyone else gotten a call from his "staff" urging Illinois/Chicago residents to DEMAND that Chicago's TIF money be returned to the city's general fund as a means of balancing Chicago's budget crisis.

Seems as the stuttering prick is playing footloose and fancy free with the TIF $$$$, he's crying poor to the state legislature trying to get more tax $$$$ from them and Madigan doesn't like Daley f*cking with HIS stash of cash.

A case of 'I worked hard stealing all of my money, now you go steal your own'!

The winners? The Daley/Burke/Madigan Crime families!

The losers? Joe Taxpayer aka you and I.

Forget the "bird-dogging" ...is that the new terminology that replaces "czar"??? Just have the assholes complete their full sentence.

Good behavior in jail??? If they were on "good behavior" out in the street, they wouldn't be there in the first place. Victims should see the offenders who beat, rob, maim, rape and kill spend their entire sentence where they should be.....in jail and nowhere else.

This IDOC Early Release Program will sink Quinn. Dan Hynes knows it and will stick this story up Quinn's ass till election day (as he should).

Quinn is trying not to lose the Governors' chair and is grasping at straws to save his ass. This is a necessary step, to bring in a good, clean Law Enforcement type to try to undo the mess.

Besides, since the primary elections are so close, there is no time for Quinn's usual Blue Ribbon Panel dog and pony show.

Let's all hope McCotter is successful, for our own sake!

And as for the whinners complaining about him lining up the new gig and pulling his pension, tell me. If YOU had the same opportunity to secure your financial future, and are close to retirement anyway, wouldn't you do EXACTLY THE SAME THING?

At least now he won't have to work for that insipid, bubble-headed moron of a morale killer who IS NOT, NEVER WAS nor EVER WILL BE a Police Officer!

Jody Weis, you are a shit for brains asshole! And your sidekick Masters sucks donkey dick!

Yes, they did. It's a great way to give someone 15 + yrs for a pistol. However, their background has to meet certain criteria and the Feds pick up the case to prosecute. The Feds don't touch it unless it's a 110% slam dunk of a case. Also, when they interview everyone on the paper, separately that is, if you're stories don't match up 100%, they won't take it.

'Being a nice guy doesn't make you a good leader. Was afraid to rock the boat and make tough decisions.'

Boy, finally an honest post about the guy. True, he was a pleasnat guy who always had a smile and a handshake, but there was no real substance behind the guy, who never had a bad day on this job as an upper ranking officer in his whole career as such.
Not knocking the man, but he's led a relatively stress free career here. Even his post as a Chief of Patrol was a joke. He had no really difficult areas to manage or be held accountable for.
When the heat got turned up on himin 025, Cline pulled him into headquarters. He never had to suffer long through endless meetings with asshole alderman as many other District Commanders did.

I think it's funny that people beef when bossesd retire and taske another job; if they are approached about a spot andthe money is good why wouldn't they take it? like you wouldn't? it's about financial security and well-being. Some guys retire and move out of state, most don't so why not take another gig if it interests you?

It's obvious that people on this rag can never be happy for someone, especially a great guy like MCCotter; it's much easier to try to sully their good names and try to drag them through the mud on a blog, to make your insecure selves feel better.
