More Like China?
Mayor Richard Daley opened the new Fullerton “L” station on the Brown and Red lines Saturday and said the United States should follow China’s example on modernizing infrastructure.
“If you travel to China, they do these things continually, on a daily basis,” Daley said. “They get the full cooperation at the federal, state, and local levels and their infrastructure projects are amazing. It doesn’t take them 10 or 20 or 30 years. It takes about four or five years.”
Does he really have no idea about communism? Slave labor? Nonexistent property and human rights? We mean, really? Due process? OSHA? Any of this right a bell Shortshanks?
The only idea worth importing from China is their method of dealing with political corruption - a bullet to the back of the head when local commissars are caught with their hands in the till. We'd be knee deep in blood here for a month or so, but a good rainstorm would clear that mess and we know some guys with dump trucks who could haul the bodies out to some Iowa farms.
UPDATE: On the upside, someone pointed out China has a "one child" policy that could pay extraordinary dividends down the line. And then there's the whole tank thing. Imagine if CPD had tanks in 1968 driving down Michigan Avenue. The Task Forces would have been hosing bits and pieces of Abby Hoffman out of the treads afterward.

i think daley is onto something--- the chinese military ran over protesters with tanks in tianamen square which is quite the attention grabber and the chinese are only allowed one child per household---- we can definitely learn something from the chinese---

Coming from someone who lives here, it really is so bad here in China.
As far as Daley goes, why do people still choose to hang on his every word....nothing good nor truthful can ever escape that black hole of a mouth of his.
That said, you wouldn't want to start on the bottom and work your way up....it is much easier with a pension check that lets you live like a king.

He's right & if local Officals (MAYOR) are caught embezzling funds or in collusion with others for monetary gain the penalty is Death. Not limited to the offending Politican but every family member as well. By all means we should adopt the Chinese Policy of Good Government.
They do have an effective way of fighting the drug war. Anyone convicted of smuggling drugs into the country is paraded through the streets with a sign that says "Drug Dealer" tied around their neck. At the end of the parade they are shot point blank in the back of the head. May sound harsh, but China has no drug problems.

Combine that with the cheap labor China has on hand as a result of Red China's brutal and opressive government, it's no wonder they can do what they do without the yoke of OSHA, minimum wage, Social Security, unemployment compensation and the cost regulations and health care for the millions of illegal aliens showing up at ER's across the country.
This women also told me about many people from China who come here get credit stiff the bank for the money and go back to China and don't give a shit because, as she quoted them, "it's not my country."
That's what lies at the end of Obama's health care rainbow.
The Wall Street/Banker rip-off thatt was perpetrated against the American people shows that the Banks are telling the politicians how high to jump or when to get on their knees and they sure seem to like it on their knees.
The U.S. that those of us about 45 years-old and older remember my cease to exist unless there is a tsunami of incumbents booted nationwide from office on all levels, Local, State and Federal.

...the Middle East folk have been doing this for years. Get small busines loans, signature loans, mortgages, etc., from OUR small business association with phoney names and SS#'s, grab millions of dollars then split to the homeland. The banks who issued the loans with the blessing of the sba come to law enforcement with their tails between their legs wondering how it happened and wanting law enforcement to straighten it out and arrest these people who are gone or gave false information.
