Officer Wounded

  • A Chicago police officer was shot and wounded while responding to a hostage situation overnight at an apartment building in the West Side's Lawndale neighborhood that also was the scene of an extra-alarm fire, authorities said.

  • After lengthy negotiations with the man, the woman, 42, tried to flee the apartment through the front door, at which time the man fired several shots, striking the woman, police said.

As she ran out the front door, she collided with SWAT officers who were in the hallway, knocking them to the ground. That caused one of the officers to accidentally discharge his weapon, and shoot himself in the foot, police said.

[...] The wounded officer, an 18-year veteran, was reported in fair condition at Mt. Sinai Hospital this morning, officials said.
Speedy recovery Officer.

Really OT:

Body shop owner John Szybkowski once submitted a slew of phony bills to the City of Chicago for work on police cars.

He kicked back some of his illegal profits to city employees.

And he lied to a grand jury to cover it up, the feds alleged.

So what did the city do?

It gave him more than $11 million in new business.

Szybkowski, now in his 60s, was sentenced to three years in prison in 1981 for his role in one of the worst scandals in Chicago Police history.

WATCH FOR DALEY TO SAY HE KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THE CONTRACT. NOTHING GETS LET OUT FROM THE FIFTH FLOOR WITHOUT THEM KNOWING EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. WHO PAVED THE WAY FOR THIS DEAL?

It's getting insane out there.
This savage shoots at the police and hits his hostage multiple times, then jumps out the third floor window, grabs onto and slides down a utility pole in the alley and then like a monkey jumps into the second floor window, where he promptly starts setting fires to mask his next escape attempt.
I watched the SWAT guys handle their business. Thanks for what you guys do, I won't touch that work !
Get well office, take some time off.

j-fed can take the first step towards redemption if he quickly helps put daley behind bars.

Then he must kneel in front of AG Holder and beg for Cozzi to be released and pardoned. And returned to active duty. With full back pay and benefits.

Then j-fed must do the honorable thing and jump in front of a speeding bus to save someone worthy of being saved.

Then after half an eternity in purgatory he may petition for redemption.

"there comes a fucking time when you have to ask yourself "how did I fucking get here, and what have I done to deserve it."

the ANSWER:

What you have done is stepped up to a line that most to all others back down and away from. How you got here is to go thru hell, pissy stairwells, roach infested apartments on the West side, stepped over human excrement, dead bodies, walked around burnt cars, crouched behind barely running beat cars, endured gunfire, verbal assault, management assault,FOP let downs,to turn to your left and right and find us STANDING THERE WITH YOU. You deserve this because you EARNED it and it wasnt handed to you after spending time under some commanders desk moaning softly. You Deserve this because each day when your wife/husband looks at you, they know that they have chosen the best person. You deserve this because your children look up to you as do the quiet majority of the public. You deserve this because you, like I, have been MAN ENOUGH to cry as they buried our fallen, been MAN enough to show your human side, and been POLICE OFFICER enough to do this every day. While the city will bend US over daily, still we push on. And when that glorious time comes on the last day when you can turn the paper in,say FUCK YOU,smile and walk out the back for the last time, picture in your mind a field full of Clydesdales wearing Black and white checkerboard head dress, purple mountains, tall cool grass and a warm gentle breeze near the crystal clear fishing hole thats surrounded by the rest of us that have BEEN WAITING FOR YOU.
To answer your question,Office,
they will never take the fight out of the dog. They just take the dog out of the fight.

Hang in there ride it out.

First and foremost get well soon Officer and recovery very slowly at home on city time.

Finger off the trigger until you have made a conscious decision to shoot the threat and continue until neutralized.

There is no such thing as an accidental firing of a weapon. If you have no intent to shoot a threat then it is a "Negligent Discharge".

This comes strictly from range staff instructors and SWAT operators. Sounds like some classroom retread for SWAT members.

If this was any other Police Officer in Patrol or any other Unit he or she would be stripped as be qualified to carry a carbine and your rifle registration would be revoked.

Actually, don't speak unless you know all the facts. That officers "accidental discharge" saved the "victims" life. Anybody else, but those SWAT guys would have lit her up like a x-mas tree. As she barreled through them, out of the darkness, seeing nothing but a large figure and muzzle flash, they were able to in a fraction of a split second determine she was not the threat. If you have researched anything since you seem to know it all, you would know that studies have been done that show (regardless of your training) that when being knocked down or falling down while holding a pistol with your finger "outside" of the trigger, the hand often will unintentionally squeeze and the finger slides right inside the trigger guard. It's a phenomenon that has been documented in law enforcement incidents over and over. There is a term for it, but I can't remember it off the top of head.

Seriously dumbfuck?? These SWAT guys were nervously waiting for some violent shit to kick off and then this woman comes charging out the door screaming crying, meanwhile shots are being fired by Dude and you're gonna sit there and criticize that officer and tell him "finger off the trigger".. Of course he had his finger on the trigger. He didn't know if she had a gun, or if dude was following her out the door with the gun.. You must think you're fuckin John Wayne or something. Eat shit..

Dudes girlfriend told detectives that while Dude was talking to the negotiator on scene, he had his gun to her head and was forcing her to suck his prick. What a fuckin piece of shit. And now he's sitting at the hospital being treated like a fuckin king. No joke, he didn't have a tv in his hospital room, so the nursing staff had to wheel one in, along with a box filled with movies for him to watch and keep himself entertained. UnfuckinReal. Liberal fucks. I was assigned hospital detail and personally witnessed that unbelievable bullshit.

Is there a new set of rules.... please do elaborate..... Dear ones.

I know the instructors treat P.O.s'
like shit, so come on. That's all you ever hear on the range.

Finger off trigger

Muzzle consciousness

There is no such thing as an "Accidental Discharge".

This is taught through block after block of instructions, from academy, yearly qualifications, auxiliary weapons, shotgun certified, and carbine course...etc............

In any civil litigation matter any instructor can be called to testify on how and what they trained Officers.

It is the responsibility of each individual Officer to be held accountable for his or her actions, if they do not meet the training guide lines.

Don't argue it with me just know the facts and understand the consequences.

This was an incident that involved a "Negligent Discharge". Not in my eyes ( I did not make the rules) but clearly in the way we are taught and trained to safely handle loaded firearms and live weapons.

------------------

I think its simply called a "startle response".
Now this officer was putting himself in harms way in a situation that led to other officers on scene to realize, "hey, Im not trained for this and to be honest, Im not up for it either" and to call out SWAT. He was also the guy that stepped up to the plate and said, "I'll go first, I'll take the shield" as far as I've heard. So I wouldnt beat him up too bad, I'm sure he is quite embarassed already.
Unfortunately the city law department cant make any excuses for this had the hostage been accidentally shot. Just like its "On Target On Trigger" its also, "Off Target Off Trigger".
I dont think a man that steps up to the plate when others are backing down should be thrown off the team, but it there should be something that can be done to re-certify (if there even is a certification process in Chicago) this officer as an operator.
And to the guy that was complaining about losing his 'carbine certification', it was his pistol from my understanding. Kinda hard to hold a shield and a rifle at the same time.
All that being said, heal up quick officer, but not too quick. An injury like that should have you rehabbing right through the summer, no?

Sgt WW was so good that he didn't have to train, he had things to do like stay in the office. What a joke this whole dept is and your mentality. You want poor leadership like Lt FB or Sgt WW because you need to be treated like babies. For the last time HBT sucked because that leadership sucked. SWAT is playing catch up because of those two. Give me a break with your days of glory. Big Fat asses on HBT, phone call hacks on the team, Friends of FB suck holes who spent more time kissing up to him so just maybe just maybe you would be allowed to hold your M4 that day. And in case you guys think I'm one of the new guys, Im not I was HBT and I am so happy that I have nothing to do with that sad excuse of a team or that leadership. Don't forget Lt. FB cashed some nice checks with all the comp time he stashed away building his kingdom and not a real SWAT team. Lt. M had to start from scratch from everything from equipment, to take home cars. Lt FB or his little minions like WW did nothing for us. That old HBT leadership would take the best equipment and let the troops suffer unless you were one of his favorites. So my Insane/Fish friend that must have been riding Lt FB coat tails. Let me guess you were one of the minions that Lt. FB would let you hold your M4 and you weren't stuck in the alley.
