No Midway Sale for Now
Guess those budget issues aren't so pressing at the moment?
Mayor Daley said today he’s in no rush to revive the failed $2.5 billion deal that would have privatized Midway Airport — not after the pricetag for London’s Gatwick Airport fell far short of expectations.
“It’s a long way off. … You have to make sure the market is there,” Daley said of the Midway deal that collapsed last spring for lack of financing.
Why even sell it when he can "offer" it up for sale and pocket a cool $126 million when the sale falls through?
- Last spring, the Midway deal collapsed for lack of financing, leaving taxpayers with a $126 million down payment, but no apparent way to shore up city pensions and rebuild Chicago's aging infrastructure.
Anyone see where that cash went?

And you do remember the law put in place by the Rep. - some Italian name - that would require Daley to fund the police pension w/ the proceeds of the Midway sale.

Sell the Mayor's job to the highest bidder. With all the graft that office controls, the taxpayers should get a few billion back, why vote for the asshole for free? may 'em pay.

I'm wondering for Daley or any of the aldermen would sell ANY of their assets?! Would they give up any incoming income? Would their accountants recommend this action to them. Probably not. In the world of business, it is only good to sell assets if they do nothing for you. If they cause you a lost in revenue. That's only if you have tried to correct the reason of the losses and can not. Daley hasn't even tried. He is looking for the "fast" money and then run down the block and claims that this was a good.....no....great deal! Now, he going to try his hand at the Midway deal. OMG! Ya think he hasn't learned his lesson yet? Who the f--- are his advisors?!! Maybe its time to move out of Chicago...out of Crook county!

The city has agreed to sell ad space in the bottom of the bins passengers use to put carry on items through the x-ray machines at O'Hare Airport. The ads are for AMTRAK!
So let me get this straight, obtaining revenue for an airport with ads that are trying to convince people to avoid flying? Looks like there's no need for another runway at O'Hare if everyone is riding the rails.

Mayor 42 Short believes in the Dec 21, 2012 scenario. That is why everything is being sold, "dumped" or dealt away. That seems to explain why specific properties have been sold at garage sale prices.
