A few days ago, there was a comment posted. We can't seem to find it at the moment, but it told the story of the 011 District commander having a cow about a poster of Chief Wiggum and some humorous Christmas ornaments placed on the District tree. The commander actually wanted to get an ET to lift fingerprints from these items.

Cmdr. Henny-Penny, in a recent emergency staff meeting regarding harmless Christmas tree ornaments and other assorted lobby additions that got her panties in a bunch, commented that she wants the 011th District desk crews to (not verbatim) REFLECT THE POPULATION OF THE DISTRICT RESIDENTS. This statement was verified by a few supervisors present at this meeting, as well as overheard and relayed by front office workers.
While Miss Penny couldn't possibly be stupid enough to put this on paper (although I have seen dumber things in the CO book over many years), I bet there's more than a few people that are bid desk, relief and lockup officers that would absolutely LOVE to be bounced from a seniority-based, contractually-protected spot based on race. If memory serves me correctly, a certain F/1, Southside boss got sued (and lost) over similar shit a few years ago. C'mon, Penny! Put pen to paper and post this in the CO book "to be read at 7 consecutive roll calls" so I can pick up more work representing wronged officers. Worthless, ignorant and racist gold stars like yourself have made me a fortune in court over the years!

They do not encourage or give thanks. Its all a farce. Name me one good one that anyone can put faith in. I cannot think of any. Its a joke. I can barely look at them without throwing up. Especially the ones on top. We are being led by a bunch of people that have no clue what it means to put handcuffs on people. Look at the top command staff. Weis=Fed, Cuelo=clueless & not the police, O'Keefe=civilian, Peterson=stupid & not the police, Jackson=not very bright smiles a lot and accomplishes nothing, Brust=Fed=civilian, Masters=civilian wanna be=dangerously stupid. It is NOT misinformation. Those of us who were there witnessed it firsthand. (And I had considered her a personal friend before she was assigned there.) She bowed to the wishes of the politicians, especially that hat-wearing female alderman, and it cost the city a ton in payouts.
Why are you surprised? A certain Mayor said this about CPD and the City as a whole years ago as regards hiring preference. Heck, they changed to the police test score from numerically based to "unqual/qual/highly qual" because the numbers told a story they didn't want to hear.......

It seems to me that the real point to be made here is, why does the police leadership and city hall remain silent when these outragous acts of racsism on the part of Black bosses occur? If a white commander said these things their head would be chopped off. A black or hispanic seems to forever get away with it. Those officers who sued Perry had their careers ruined by the lawsuit and received very little money .And the fact that the city choose to spend a lot of money to defend her actions and then to retaliate against those who filed the suit speaks volumes. Yes, Chicago, go ahead and eliminate the entrance exam for police officers. Then you can pick and choose who you want to hire just as you now do when it comes to assignments and promotions. The fact that a 40% on a promotion exam is considered a " pass" and be " qualified" should be enough to make the average person gag. It seems that Chicago is going backwards. I see the ruination and worldwide embarassement of a once proud police department. The only thing saving Chicago at this point in time is a nationwide downward trend in crime. If that trend changes, the CPD will, in the future, not be competent to handle it. There is no evidence, whatsoever, that a certain race or sex has a better ability to be a police officer. I learned something new today. Apparently it is legal to keep chickens in your yard in Chicago as long as you do not slaughter them. And there does not appear to be a limit on the number.
You can also have either one goat or one sheep.
The afternoon desk crew in 011 is BY FAR the most competent bunch of people I've met on this job in 26+ years. In addition to the amount of "normal" B.S. that flows thru that place in terms of reports, accidents and phone calls because it's an area, there is no other district or area in the city that handles the amount of arrestees that 011 does. Then factor in all A4 Detective units, MSF, TRU, Narcotics, Mass Transit, Mass Transit Special Employment, females from 010, 012 and 013, State Police, the occasional Sheriff's Police, Stroger Police, UIC...the list goes on and on in terms of sheer volume that that district handles. And those P.O.'s that are acting Sergeants have more smarts than a typical Sergeant that's never worked a busy district in his/her career. I know of a couple of the acting Sgts from 2/W and 1 from 3/W that (excuse the generic term) are the real police, all working that armpit of a district for 20 years or so that have chosen to work inside to adapt to the current political climate as well as for personal reasons. Plus they wouldn't put these guys and gals in that chair if they didn't know what was going on or couldn't handle the assignment.
Which brings me to my point - I worked in 015 many years ago when Henny Penny herself was on the desk. Her work ethic, skills and ability aside, she of all people should know what working a busy district's desk entails. And dollars-to-donuts, MOST BLACK OFFICERS DON'T WANT TO WORK SUCH A BUSY ASSIGNMENT. I'm not throwing a race card in the game here, just pointing out observations made over many years. Any yes, there are exceptions to everything....plenty of white coppers don't want the headache of working such a busy job.
Either way, Henny Penny obviously doesn't have a fucking clue what kind of talent she's got running that desk on all watches...just another out-of-touch clout gold star that's contributing to the ruin of morale and this department in general. Go ahead Penny, put all black officers on those inside spots...when arrestees miss going before the judge in 48 hours, felons are I-bonded and nothing gets done the right way, you can come and ask me for advice. Oh, let's not forget your civil rights violations lawsuits and contract violations you'll be swimming in...DUMMY.

The sad part is when a white shirt would stand firm and not allow a P/O Mom or Dad with alleged childcare problems to REPEATEDLY be treated differently than others, that member's co-workers, the white shirt's peers and the white shirt's bosses would call the white shirt a prick, inflexible and unwilling to understand the plight of a single Mom or single Dad, respectively, and it has happened that way many times.
And, if he/she is black, and the white shirt is white, the white shirt is labeled as a racist.
And I am not talking about a member of either gender with a seriously ill child. I am talking about the ones that repeatedly play the system and take advantage, time and time again, like Penny.

In my opinion, 007 has a great DC. I know its not much better then 011, but I think it's worth the transfer. I found it hard to go out of my way and bring in activity when she was a cpt. Couldnt imagine her behavior as a commander.

I am starting to agree with this statement. I have listened to this guy for years and in the last few he has become such a populist refusing to side with either side of an issue. At least when I listen to NPR I know what I'm getting, with Roe his views change daily. The director of WLS is well aware of this and I expect some changes in the overall format of his show. Hawaiians are polynesians decendents. And, I agree with the one commendator that race does not matter in the skill or effciency of the desk crew. What does matter is if they are protected in any manner. If the person on the desk crew is a bid or is a favorite and screws things up, nothing will happen to them. Truth be told, many police officers do not want to work the desk or the lockup[ as they feel it is too restrictive. But, race should never come into play, not ever. I will believe that racism is over in this town and on this police department when a Black can be appointed as commander of 016 and a white as commander of 002. No mayor or superintendent has the guts to do this and I really do not think that the black reverands and alderman would accept this. But, I would love to see it happen.
