It is too bad the Dept. does not allow the 1911 type .45 pistol. An Ed Brown "executive carry " would make a smashing duty gun, and more criminals would get hit . Google one of these with the hard chrome finish, just for grins and giggles!
I fully understand that they hire way too many idiots to use something like this.

Sounds like just another day in the hood to me. Same shit different day. Sad news is, they will all be out on the streets ONCE AGAIN. Can you even imagine what the news would be like if they televised every shooting, killing, homicide, rape, stabbings in just Englewood alone. They'd need an extra hour for the news.
My hats off to these officers. Stay safe but keep up the good work.

DON'T vote for ANY Democ-RATS, including Democ-RAT Judges. You are giving aid and comfort to the Enemy by doing so. They are the same political affiliation as the insane lunatic Mayor, who feels it's more important to do anything with Chicago Taxpayers money, other than to give hard-working Police Officers a well-deserved raise and fair Contract, proper manpower to help ensure their safety, up to date equipment, etc; etc; etc. How many of these Great Democrat Crook County Judges you are thinking about voting for have publicly spoken out about the rude, insulting, ignorant, arrogant treatment, and non-support of Chicago Police Officers, by Mayor Richard Daley? NONE, that's right, NONE.

Hey, that can't be right. Guns are illegal in Chicago. Even hardened criminals wouldn't break that law, it's way too risky. Cops must've put 'em on those innocent boys.

1911 my ass. There are other more modern guns available. Ones that don't end up with dead police officers. Don't know what the Dept authorizes these days, but the 1911 killed at least one friend of mine, wounded another back in the day. Carried one in Viet Nam, and in 011. Went to Narcotics, where the question is, "if you are whacking a door with a sledgehammer, and carrying the chrome beauty, cocked and locked?"

Not if you're left handed. Now you can get ambi safties on '11 derivatives. Why not come into the new century and save a brother officer's life?

I work in the 7th district. I have a question for the officers that work in the 8th district. Two nights ago a car chase happened, I think it was 814, so like most officer in the station I turned up my radio. I was listening to the chase and 820 gave the go ahead. Great. Then, a couple of minutes later 810R terminated the chase. Ok fine. The guy bailed two seconds later the he was caught. Excellent. The copper who started the chase then asked 810R if he wants to meet him at the scene. The copper then says, I think I broke my finger and need to go to the hospital. 810R then shoots back on the radio “Figures”. Figures, every one of us that were listening could believe it. A copper get hurt and this guy says “Figures”. So my question is this, who the heck is 810R and is there more to the story. Is this copper a medical abuser or something like that or is 810R that big of a jerk? Can anyone in the 8th district fill us in, please.

Bloomberg warns of 19,000 layoffs if state cuts aid
(Possible 3,100 Plus Police Officers to be Laid-off)
By: DAVID SEIFMAN — Monday, January 25th, 2010 ‘The New York Post’

I said it in a previous post. Done deal, 250 p.o.' to be laid off not by 01 Feb but now 15 Feb. The mayor will just violate the contract we have.

Very sad guys & girls.

1/25/2010 07:49:00 PM

Bullshit.

By contract, daley must lay off ALL civilians in the police department before he can lay off ONE police officer. That has been in the contract for quite a while.

Of course, he has broken the contract before... He will have to lay off all those political heavy weight district managers first. That actually would be an improvement.

OT:

Today's front page article in the Tribune reports on a 2004 police shooting. In the article, the reporters claim that the officers involved in the shooting are liars.

Buried in the article are the following facts:

1. The offender was charged and convicted of attempted murder of a police officer. He awaits a 30-80 year sentence.

2. A civilian was unintentionally shot by the police during this incident. The civilian sued and the jury found for the officers.

The officers have now testified UNDER OATH at a criminal trial that resulted in a conviction and a civil trial that resulted in their aquittal.

People constantly rage about filing lawsuits on this blog. Most are ridiculous, BUT, in this case, the officers should sue the Chicago Tribune and the reporters (personally) for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The officers are named in the article and the article goes against clear findings in TWO separate trials.

I can only hope the officers pursue a suit against the Tribune Company.

I also think that it is time that this blog begin listing companies who advertise in the Tribune paper and on its website, so we know where we should no longer shop. A boycott against Tribune advertisers would go a long way in this economy.

This is the most flagrantly false article ever published in the Tribune. SCC please help push a boycott along.

The BS Tribune had a front page article about a police shooting where the bad guy got 80 years for attempt murder of a PO. Tribune writes about how the officers testimony was not consistent with the incident. Do they not realize when shit hits the fan that you cannot possible remember every detail that occurred accurately--the best response officers is "I'm don't know for sure but I think I was standing "here" when I shot at the offender but I'm not sure--This way you can never be considered lying---I would love for these assholes to walk a day in our shoes--Things happen so quickly to us we cannot possible know whats 100% correct. the bottom line is the officers made it home to their families. Be safe out there. And the law firm Loevy--I don't know how you guys can live with yourselves

Tonight in 3 a unit is calling for help and dispatcher doesn't bother checking gps when she can't hear their location. It's obvious they had an emergency. Beat number came out clear but family and offender fighting and yelling muffled the location. Dispatcher had to be told several times by multiple police on the street to look up gps and find the unit. First requests were ignored by dispatcher. Finally she was told to look on the map and she got the hint. Several minutes had went by in the mean time. Who trains these people up there? If the city spent all this money on gps for officer safety then why doesn't oemc use it? Glad officers are ok and bad guy was placed into custody. Thanks for nothing zone7 3rd watch.

How is someone breaking a finger during a chase, a medical abuser? Are you that petty? IOD's are IOD's, plain and simple. Or are you super cop and will never get hurt or are you stupid, you'll get hurt and then not report it, fucking yourself later. When the injury turns into something that will require it to be corrected with surgery, as you go on the medical paying the co-pay after your deductable.

Don't take anything for granted on this job. You get hurt on the job, you shouldn't have people talking shit, because those people are do nothing pricks. Change the way you think, be this statement makes you look like shit.

Be safe out there. God forbid you get hurt and someone calls you a medical abuser.

Is that the 7th District, aka Englewood, that Bill O'Reilly referred to by stating...if Obama can't clean up Englewood in his hometown, how can he clean up Haiti? We've been saying the same thing, perhaps he reads SCC. Meanwhile the libs are pissed-off at O'Reilly for acknowledging what everybody thinks, but wouldn't dare to say. Channel 5 is exploiting it in their usual severely slanted liberal manner.

Double action only with at least 10 lbs of trigger pull is required for idiots. Discharges with Glocks can happen when people break trigger guard discipline.
