  • A 39-year-old Glenview Township man was shot today by Cook County Sheriff's police after he allegedly charged at them with a sword after an hour long stand off, officials said.

The man, whose identity is not being released by authorities because he has not been charged with a crime, was taken to Lutheran General Hospital where he was being operated after being shot in the chest, sheriff's officials said in a statement.

[...] After more than an hour, the man came out brandishing a large sword and approached police in a "threatening manner,'' police said. The man was shot once in the chest by police, officials said. No other injuries were reported.
In any event, no police hurt. We've never yet seen a sword wielding head case beat a rifle.

i know some County cops that were there it is unincorporated Glenview, known as Northfield Twp. the coppers were less than 10 feet from the offender. offender was crazed charging the cops and was waving the sword at them. hbt was staged and responded with an M-4 rifle round in the chest.

we are not the only place seeing a surge in violence. the burbs are getting really bad, particularly burbs with large apartment complexes.

i dont want to sound political, but it's the economy. these complexes are renting to anyone who can pay the rent or have Uncle Sam pay it for them. lose a job, lose a house. when all else fails...ignore the bill collectors, get drunk, beat your wife and attack the cops.

If the Police have to shoot, the rifle is less risk to the public. Those tiny little .223 bullets dont have much energy left after they hit the badguy. Someone tell Shortshanks so he orders more rifles in the beat cars. Oh, I know how to get them to notice: MASTERS MASTERS MASTERS.
