Who to Believe?

Are you going to believe what Daley's minions are telling you? Or your own lying eyes?
  • While some CTA riders said it appeared service was slower than usual on the Presidents Day holiday, CTA officials reported seeing no signs of a work slowdown that the chief of the bus drivers union threatened over the weekend.

"Something's going on. I've been here almost 20 minutes, and the Bus Tracker says the next two buses are delayed,'' said Simone Ford, who waited at Wacker Drive and Michigan Avenue for a No. 6 Jackson Park Express bus about 3:25 p.m.

[...] Everything that was running 15 to 20 minutes apart at mid-day before the (service) cuts is now at 25- to- 35-minute intervals,'' said the driver, who declined to provide his name when a Tribune reporter following Ford started asking questions.

And the voter irritation grows larger.

The CTA and the Teamsters should jointly strike, unions are worthless without teeth.

Daley is breaking the middle class everyday. Daley must be stopped NOW!

Oh, it was slow, that is a fact. 30 minutes slow up on the north side today. And then when I showed my badge once hopping on the bus, the driver questioned me like if I was a terrorist. I showed him my badge and I.D. and he gave me a look like I was some piece of you know what. Yea frustration is apparent everywhere these days.

TPTB's job is to lay the blame on the workers.

You can hear everyone talking about it and hopefully this is a reality call for people not to re-elect Daley. I have a bunch of videos up on the blog showing all the homeless on the trains.I discovered speaking to several people on the train that they live around my neighborhood and have around the same commute that I do. There are no jobs in our city and we're killing ourselves in order to live here...

First of all, can we please stop calling this a work slowdown? It is not a work slowdown. All the bus drivers are doing is they are following all of their rules.

Why should a bus driver go faster than 30 M.P.H.? Why should a bus driver start his bus until every passenger has taken their seats? Why should a bus driver try to beat the oncoming red light signal?

Finally they are waking up that if they continue to work harder and harder, then the mayor will just fire more of them in a few months.

It is a shame that on our force, we don't have such unity. We are being screwed and we continue to cut corners. We should stop cutting corners. We should do our job according to all of our general orders. Together we can do this! Note- I am not advocating a work slow down, just follow all of our department's rules, general orders, etc... to the letter.

Every bus and train I see is empty... maybe the CTA should figure out when and where their buses/trains are actually needed, the whole thing is a result of massive mismanagement and waste.

My bus "disappeared" this morning. Bus tracker said it would show in 11 minutes, then about 5 minutes later it was 20 minutes.

So, if the CTA drivers do a slow-down, how are we supposed to tell?

Hey only waiting 20-30 minutes isn't bad. It is public transportation not door to door limo service.

==============================

1) Because they know we already have an average of a 2+ hour commute due to the third world country transit here
2) Because the buses are jam packed and standing room. Are we supposed to sit on each other's laps?
3) See #1

Well, maybe they should have all along been obeying the traffic laws, the bus drivers drive like goofs, they cut out from the curb into the lanes, I knoiw that they havew a hard job but, don't become a terrorists in your drivinf habits and really 35 MPH would be a real slow down from what they ususally drive down the streets, they are a bunch of ignorant folks who have a giant chip on thier shoulders, talking on the phones, listening to I pods, Etc. I really don't have too much sympathy for certain people.

If the bus route can't pay for itself it should be gone! Basic economics 101!
