Fed Up Yet Chicago?

The next great revenue grab:
Yes, that's a photo enforcement Stop Sign. Click for a full size pic. Another shot:The sender tells us this is on the far northwest side, where people have jobs and actually pay bills, fines and fees. We have no idea if or when these went active, but we heard they had been testing some in 008 on 63rd Street? Anyone have the scoop?

UPDATE: Read the post please. We state the following:
  • "We have no idea if or when these went active..."
That's a question for info, not an invitation to harass us or whomever sent these in. And if it is unincorporated Norwood Park Township, that borders city limits for a few miles and might be of interest to our northside dwelling brethren. We also mention that we heard they were testing them on 63rd Street, so Shortshanks is obviously looking at these to use somewhere.

The pictures posted here look like they are on Bryn Mawr Av between Canfield Av and Cumberland Av, in unicorporated Norwood Pk. There don't appear to be any cameras anywhere in the area (yet), but I'm not sure since I haven't been on the street in a few weeks. I did stop completely though, 'cuz I wasn't sure where they might have been. Maybe it's more of a ploy to get people to stop and there aren't any cameras at all. That used to be quite a speedway between Cumberland and Canfield, because there weren't that many stop signs at all in that stretch.

How many drivers actually come to a complete stop at a stop sign and look both ways before proceeding? My street is a one way running south with four way stops signs on each block except mine. The east/west street on my block (a two way street) has stop signs each way. I watch this interestion all the time for the near misses or crashes. We've asked for a four way stop and our alderman has countered with a speed bump. Where do I sign up to get one of these stop signs installed?

I'm no angel. In my squad car I roll thru stops on midnites. There not that many cars out there then. In my personal car during the day, I stop for every stop sign. I leave early when I go places or accept the fact that I will arrive safety when late.

God bless the CPD. Protect your partner and back each other up.

Do you really believe this is in Chicago? The street poles, street signs, mounting devices and other signs aren't consistent with those in Chicago. Also, the street sign clearly reads "Washington Av". Chicago has a Washington Street, not Avenue. This looks like it may be Park Ridge though.

Because he only fucks with the tax payers, not the undesirables that are a drain on society. I'm curious to know if summary arbitration was done in this case. I'm sure it was and this is why the City decided to drop the grievance because it was an absolute loser which probably required damages to be paid by the city. If you are unfamiliar with the grievance process, that is usually how it works before a case goes to full arbitration. A separate arbitrator reviews the case file in a summary opinion without any witness testimony and renders what her decision would be if it would go to full arbitration. The City or FOP (with acceptance from the grievants) could choose to accept the summary opinion or move forward to the next step of full arbitration. The more I hear about this case the more it sounds like this was the logical conclusion, but without OK given by the grievants. That is obviously why the FOP sent out the letters to be signed. If this is the case it seems to me that those members would have a good case against both the City and the FOP. I think the FOP needs to be peppered with calls from those members and demand to know if there was in fact a summary opinion rendered, before the City elected to withdraw the grievance and admit wrongdoing.

Don't panic! That sign has been there app. 5 months. It's a psychological ploy to get you to stop.
There is NO camera there.
Their ploy apparently worked.
If you click back on the top picture on this SCC site you'll actually see very small letters above the camera picture on the sign.
It reads, "soon to be installed."
I've passed that sign a few times myself without finally noticing the intentionally fine print.
If you actually saw that fine print and/or completely stopped out of fear to be photographed, the SIGN accomplished what they wanted you to do in the first place... STOP!
Pretty ingenious, I think.
Move along now, nuttin' to see here!

Forget about stop signs, check this out ..

MORE NONSENSE AT PROSSER HS.....

I guess everyone that works at Prosser Career Academy High School has some kind of 'funky' deal or scam going on,

Case in point is Prosser Assistant Principal Dr. Raul Luna aka Mr. Magoo

Magoo has a license to be a practicing physician, yet, Magoo tells people that makes more money being the assistant principal at Prosser, doing very little work as the AP, and running his auto insurance company on N. Milwaukee Ave in Chicago.

And, Magoo earned $134K last year, meaning the taxpayers will be on the hook for his pension shortly. Magoo will 80% of the average of his last 5 years of work or $107K/year upon retirement

The biggest question is: Does Magoo run the insurance company using CPS phones and computers during the school day?

This could be as Magoo is continuously taking phones calls from his cell phone while in his office and with his school phone next to him. And, walks the halls on his cell phone when an office phone is steps away.

Weren't Gov. Quinn's personal cell phone records called into question for this?

Also, Magoo is the boyfriend of former Prosser clerk, Mrs. Rosemary Alioto and lives with her in Morton Grove (outside of the city)

Rosemary Alioto's son is married to one of the twins (Mrs. Kelly Alito) currently working as Special Education teachers at Prosser. The other twin is Kimberly Windeatt.

Here's the funny thing about the twins as they boh teach a Bi-lingual English class for Polish- speaking students and neither 'speaka the Polish'....hahahahhaha!

Okay, hiring one of the twins is 'borderline' nepotism. But, hiring both to work at Prosser is downright GREEDY!

And, po po wonders where their money is

That is unincorporated Norwood Park. Here is a little history for you south side cops an old timer once told me.
Back in the 1940's what is the North side of the city(currently 016) was all horse stables and forest. The city started to buy and annex the land to the city but felt no one would move that far north. The city developed the area in pieces. I think it started west of Narragansett. Back then there was no Reed, HIP,Shorsh Village, Norridge, or Harwood Heights. The area remained unincorporated Cook County. The towns of Norridge and Harwood Height became incorporated in the 1940's and some of it Chicago. A little patch remained unincorporated which is called Norwood Park. The 016 District completely surrounds Norridge and Harwood Heights, each towns population is around 6,000 residents. All of that area could of been part of Chicago but at the time the city wasn't interested in the area.
I was told the area is called Norwood Park because it is close to Norridge and Harwood Heights. Also the CFD also provided fire protection to all three areas until the 1980's when they started the Norwood Park fire department.
Norwood Park remains unincorporated until this day. It is where John Gacy used to live and where all those boys bodies were discovered. That is why on the news clips you see the Cook County Police on the crime scene. It was their jurisdiction back then and still to this very day. You rarely ever see a Cook County Police car in that area and like one poster stated that alot of people in that area know this and cut through Norwood Park to get from Cumberland to Canfield Road. So they speed all the time and never stop at stop signs. Occasionally when there is a job out there and no CCSP available to respond CPD will get the job. This area has been told to incorporate several times but the residents refuse. See the homes are huge in that area and if they were to become part of Chicago they would pay high amount of property taxes on those homes. I think they would rather annex on to Norridge or Harwood Heights but Chicago now wants those taxes now and would legally challenge it since Chicago completely surrounds it. Also another true story, a couple of big streets and sanitation bosses were residing in in unincorporated Norwood Park. The homes were huge and beautiful, but envious city employees found out and dropped a dime on them. So the SS guys instead of losing thier jobs and beautiful homes had them annexed to the city. They got a city street light and city garbage cans. It looks funny but true. Shit back to the stop signs, the reason they probably put up the camera enforce is a ploy to get people to actually stop when driving through there since they have no police presence and people know it.

Its like what the city did 10 or 15 years ago when they posted signs all over saying, "radar enforced" when in reality there was no radar at all.. people saw the signs and freaked out and slowed down... eventually everyone realized there is no radar and went fast anyways... trust me, the county does not intened to by any cameras for these.. the signs cost about 3 dollars to produce. stop trying to freak everyone out.

Just because people dont drive to the worst locations at the worst time of the day to complain, to a person not interested in listening, doesnt mean the problems go away..... Spring/Summers coming. Every year gets worse as the the overworked Officers cant keep up with the calls and the system finds more often for the criminals than the victims. Why not be a criminal? Get arrested, have a judge let you go, then get paid by the City for being criminal....etc, etc, etc... Well, the Officers in 008 are greatley appreciated. Keep up the good work. I'm waiting for shortshanks to downsize city council. We can do with less alderthieves. It's a "part-time" job worth over $100K a year. Get rid of 1/2 of the aldercrums and make the rest work full-time for the 100K+ jobs.
Just-saying, but I know this will take an act of God to enact.

did you see that the guy who burglarized the officer's home who was shot had a $100,000 bond and the guy who stole the bleachers from a school had a $275,000 bond? unreal. a violent career criminal who violated a police officer's home gets less than a guy who stole bleachers. only in cook county.

fyi- if you're fed up and want to run a candidate for Mayor, you'll need to get 12,500 signatures to get on the ballot.

Because it's so easy to strike a signature; you'll need at least 25,000 signatures to be safe.

It's the Chicago way!!

Of course, 5,000 Police officers could easily get 5 signatures each and be done with it.

Off topic but of utmost importance for law enforcement:

Didn't the department recently open up that training class for special employment in the tubes? Hmmm. Maybe the brain trust had some intel on what might be coming?

This is about three years after this was first mentioned by Mark Donahue at FOP meetings. That terrorism specialist jody weis really got after it, over two years after he got here. And what is the police mission in the tubes? Besides the canary in the coal mine that is.

Watch yourselves out there people, it is entirely possible a high profile attack will occur here, be alert.

CTA on High Alert After Moscow Bombing

Chicago's police and public transit are on heightened alert after dozens died in two rush-hour subway bombings in Moscow.

Chicago Transit Authority spokeswoman Kim Myles on Monday said the Chicago Police Department's public transportation section and CTA personnel are watching closely for any suspicious activity or behavior after the Moscow bombings.

"The safety and security of residents is our number one priority," CTA officials said in a press release There are no known threats made against Chicago area targets in connection with these heinous terrorist attacks."

Russian authorities say two women blew themselves up on Monday in Moscow in a subway jam-packed with rush-hour passengers, killing dozens. (38 at last count)

It brings tears of joy to my eyes watching carloads of gang members being pulled over and "interviewed" as I witnessed on Archer Ave. by El Patrons restaurant the other day. Its good to see Police activity, (proactive) you guys(and girls) are keeping our neighborhoods safe and clean. Keep it up! I cant say THANK YOU enough!! Westside Sgt.

On March 23rd, 2010 Prosser Staff members recieved a letter from the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) describing the current TB scare at Prosser. (The first Prosser student tested positive on December 9, 2009.)

Asst. Principal Dr. Raul Luna (holds a medical license), Principal Kenneth 'BUZZ' Hunter never once told the Staff of this, never once did they tell the staff that a Student (For which more than ten) were diagnosed to have tb. Shame on you BUZZ!

You wouldn't want former Insane Unknowns/Admissions/Prosser Head Basketball Coach Jeffery Davis to get sick! Opps, I mean Jeffery Scott Bates to get sick!

The poor Staff of Prosser, how much longer will we have to deal with Buzz?

Buzz obviously did not care, neither did Dr. Luna, who was too busy with his Insurance Company to even have the time to deal with this situation! Shame on you!

I can promise you, if in fact any of us test positive with TB, I will sue the city but also Buzz, for his guitar!

****Please remember there are 2-4 CPD officers working at Prosser on a daily basis.*****

O.T.Be careful and be on the look out of this militia group called Hutaree:

"The group planned to use "weapons of mass destruction" to attack the funeral of the officer they planned to kill and then retreat to prepared fighting positions fortified with improvised explosive devices, according to the federal indictment unsealed Monday.
....The federal government said all of the suspects were part of a group called the Hutaree, based in Michigan. It's described as an anti-government extremist organization that planned on acting out or attacking law enforcement officials"

You are exactly right. Will never happen, because when the 1st sh*thead gets charged every alderman and reverend will be screaming how the police are just trying to stop the peoples from complaining on the police. City will say it's for your protection but will never back it. BTW, where your hats or get a day.

I guess I don't have a major issue with this kind of enforcement technique.

You are supposed to stop at stop signs. If you don't stop, you get a citation.

It seems a whole lot more efficient if the citation is just mailed rather than tying up a cop who could be doing more urgent things than worrying about a minor traffic issue.

It also eliminates most of the arbitrary and randomness out of the situation.

The area in question is Norwood Park Township. Considered unincorporated Cook County. Cook Sheriffs Police Patrol the area. Fire service is provided by Norwood Park Fire Protection service which also serves Harwood Hts.& Norridge. I'm sure Beat 1613 which borders this area could clear up any further confusion you might have.
