CPS Cuts

Someone mentioned that the schools were cutting jobs via e-mail. Whether or not that was true, at least they're cutting in the right places according to this article:
  • Chicago Public School officials on Saturday confirmed a major transition of the administration, affecting 280 jobs through layoffs and closure of vacant positions.

The layoffs began last week and will continue through Monday. They are part of a broader wave of major cuts at the central office that new schools chief Ron Huberman has undertaken.

The layoffs come amid the high-profile resignation of David Pickens, a top aide for former schools chief Arne Duncan. Last week the Tribune revealed that Duncan's office kept lists of people -- many politically connected -- who dialed up the office seeking help in landing a seat at a top school.
The "central office" seems exactly like many of our bureaus - a place to hide numerous middle managers with no discernible function or talent for anything. The schools (and our Department) are still too top heavy.

Perhaps instead of J-Failure and crew telling everyone to "police smarter," they ought to start a course called "manage better."

can the federal government lend us some money just like they did to gm and the financial industry--- we promise we will pay it back just as soon as we run all of these thieves out of office and put some responsible people in--- everyday it's the same bullshit, the city, state, cta, cps, all broke and unable to meet its financial obligations....

SCC, from what I've heard from my friends at 'The Board,' last minute calls were made by various CLOUT to remove connected names from the final
Layoff list. Last minute shuffles were made as CLOUT outclouted 'lower clout.'. Some people who were laid off were caught completely blindsided, assured by their clout that they were immune. Many of those people left in tears last Friday as their clout couldn't return their frantic speed dialed calls.

Did the CPS just get 60 million dollars from the government to teach kids not to eat fatty food. That must be more important than saving jobs in this economy.

Well I'm sure they'd like to tell you that just middle managers are getting laid off because that would appease the masses, but my wife just happens to be the least senior person at her school, with 9-10 years. She's just a regular Special Ed teacher with a Masters Degree.

They DID just get $60 mil to hire civilian street patrols around the most vicious of the zoos...er ...I mean schools in the city.

It's all legit. Another example of Obama stimulus money creating jobs?

Look, if there is one place where there needs to be some cutting of the fat in the CPS, it IS in administration! But don't try to sell me on the idea that $60 mil from The Dept of Education in DC and $$$ earmarked for EDUCATION, should be spread around the communities of this city's bucket of blood high schools and NOT to the schools themselves!

That $60 mil, broken into much smaller chunks, could provide 100's of schools around this country with a difference between teacher layoffs and survival.

So, instead of thousands or tens of thousands of school kids benefiting from educational $$$$, now, a bunch of phony and corrupt store front ministers will be spreading money around in their off-shore accounts and kicking the rest back to the Obama/Daley/Burke/Madigan Crime Family!

Yeah, that's right. IT'S ALL LEGIT! Where can I sign up to run one of these Citizen Patrols? Give a couple $ million and leave everything to me. I'll take care of it for ya!

I don't know if the ration changed, but for years the CPS had twice as many administrators as the New York City Public Schools, and only half the students. Its about time they make some cuts.

And hubes gets 60 MILLION DOALLRS in to payoff "citizens on patrol" money that would be much better used to help hire what 700-800 Chicago coppers? wtf! All the federal money gone, where does the lottery-tax money go? how much more are the clowns in springfield, and chicago taking? Graft on the rise the saying "the manilla envelope please in the back pocket" is still going on! Want a juicy contract? just payoff the pols and you get it! Over charge? over bill? no problem as long as they get their cut correct mayor-madigan-quinn and of course the "50 followers"!

Unfortunately, most of the people laid off were not "clouted". They were ordinary, hard-working people, who worked "citywide" events on Saturdays without getting extra pay; stayed overtime and came in off hours to help out the "new" people who don't have a clue on anything, without extra pay-- people who cared about their jobs and the children-- people who knew what they hell they were doing, and who did it well.

There are CPS 'Teachers' living in the suburbs (Palatine, Evanston, Skokie, Glenview) with 'waivers'. How about canning them and hiring some of the 9800 who have been laid off so far if they move into Chicago?

Why is STOCK school closing? Northwest siders pay enough taxes to have 2 such special ed schools.
Why are the tax payers punished! Talk to your elected officials and explain how they will NOT get your votes on the NW side if this shit happens!!!
WE PAY THE DAMN TAXES!!!

The CPS is incompetent to the core. Let the laid off teachers go out and get a real job. Huberman will cut their balls off. He has no sympathy for the incompetent, He became a father a few months ago. He knows his kid will go to school in the not to distant future.

Cut the whole administration of the CPS down 90% and it will actually function smoothly with alot less theft and redundancy.

It's called "grandfathering." Residency hasn't always been mandatory. Those who live in the 'burbs were teaching before it became mandatory to live in the city.

I wonder if Huberman's little gang of followers (Adam Case, Sarah Kremsner, Adrienne (Felonious Motorola woman) Hiegel, Pat Taylor) will get laid off, yeah right. THey are in charge of important things like Performance MEasures and most participated in the Executive Pension sham at CTA. Will no newsfrauds in this city ever ask Huberman a real question at a press conference.

In five years, when that baby is ready for grade school, Huberman will be the head of some OTHER Chicago department - probably ours. He won't have any need to be politically correct and send his kid to a Chicago Public School.

What a waste of tax dollars. The majority of CPS students can obtain a GED when they transfer to IDOC.

MORE NONSENSE AT PROSSER HS.....

I guess everyone that works at Prosser Career Academy High School has some kind of 'funky' deal or ways going on,

Case in point is Prosser Assistant Principal Dr. Raul Luna aka Mr. Magoo

Magoo has a license to be a practicing physician, yet, Magoo tells people that makes more money people being the assistant principal at Prosser, doing very little work as the AP, and running his auto insurnce company on N. Milwaukee Ave in Chicago.

And, Magoo earned $134K last year, meaning the taxpayers will be on the hook for his pension shortly. Magoo will 80% of the average of his last 5 years of work or $107K/year upon retirement

The biggest question is: Does Magoo run the insurance company using CPS phones and computers during the school day?

This could be as Magoo is continuously taking phones calls from his cell phone while in his office and with his school phone next to him. And, walks the halls on his cell phone when an office phone is steps away. Weren't Gov. Quinn's personal cell phone records called into question for this?

Also, Magoo is the boyfriend of former Prosser clerk, Mrs. Rosemary Alioto and lives with her in Morton Grove (outside of the city)

Rosemary Alioto's son is married to one of the twins (Mrs. Kelly Alito) currently working as Special Education teachers at Prosser. The other twin is Kimberly Windeatt.

Here's the funny thing about the twins as they boh teach a Bi-lingual English class for Polish- speaking students and neither 'speaka the Polish'....hahahahhaha!

Okay, hiring one of the twins is 'borderline' nepotism. But, hiring both to work at Prosser is downright GREEDY!

And, po po wonders where their money is

Not true. Residency for CPS has been in effect for over 20 years.
A principal can say s/he needs the teacher because of a shortage or need for teachers in a particular area or just a because CPS feels like it.
When we were buying a house & I worked for CPS, my principal said he'd give me a waiver if we bought outside the city, even though I wasn't teaching in a shortage area.
