Police Shooting
When they say "March comes in like a lion, out like a lamb," the opposite appears to be true for police shootings in this month:
- A 25-year-old man was critically wounded tonight in a shooting involving Chicago police in the city's North Austin neighborhood.
No officers were injured in the incident which occurred at 9:16 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Mayfield Avenue, according to the Independent Police Review Authority.
The man was taken to Loyola University Hospital in Maywood in "very critical" condition, a fire department spokesman said. He didn't know the victim's age or gender.
Best wishes to the officers involved.
UPDATE: Post corrected for proper lion/lamb reference. Thanks.

no officers injured is the best part.
What they say, SCC, is that March comes "in like a lion, out like a lamb."
Hey that is what Viper says too.....
WTF?
Damn, another one! Go CPD!
Let's hope "very critical" turns into "very dead".

March come in like a lion and out like a lamb
He's Dead!!!
Off topic, but I'm just glad with the handful of tasers that have been supplied to our district, that the Desk Sergeant is able to arm themselves with one of the few available tasers. Wouldn't want those things on the streets or anything like that.
What's up with them Hillbillies from Ohio and Indiana talking about killing cops....Be careful out there my friends
With all this violence out there and more violence to come. I would like to ask the membership how it feels about officers needing to habe to take the power test test to carry the M-4? What will happen when an officer dies in the line of duty when the proper epuipment or firearm would have saved their life. I for one do not think it is fair or responsible for our administration to act in such a poor manner. I hope that his becomes a thread or topic for discussion. SCC please keep up the excellent job. On a side note, SCC keep your head down I have heard at 35th st 5th floor they want your asses on a platter.
Bad guy DOA, per ch. 9 news.
Buh bye.
OT- This Cozzi ruling seems to be taking a while. I think the if it was going to be bad we would have heard the bad news real fast. Again please keep writing Bill, it must be torture being in limbo. The best thing that can happen is that you get the letter back "return to sender, wrong address." FREE COZZI! DUMP WEIS. Zero tollerance for all excempt bullshit.
Good, no officers injured....
On a different note, word from my Sergeant and his conversation with a high ranking boss is that all officers with less than 10 years on the job will go to 401(K). For those with more than 10 years, not much will be left in the pension since many officers would be forced out.
WTF??!!
whats up with the killing in 016? near the woods?
He's Dead!!!

What's wrong with having ONE Tazer in the station? It's been used frequently to deal with out of control prisoners. Idealy, everyone should have a Tazer who wants to carry it but we know that's not going to happen!!

Sounds like you got about a minute on the job kid. Tell you crazy fucking relatives to stop coming to the station to complain about you and your two year wonder hard charger FTO disrespecting them. Because after they deal with your immature ass I have to deal with them at the desk all jacked up. So yes, I’m going to have a taser on the desk. Fucking Cry Baby Dumb Ass!

To 2:11 a.m.:
Apparently you've never worked the desk.
If you recall up until very recently only Sgt.'s and FTO's were trained to carry a taser. So a Sgt. is always going to be able to take a taser before a P.O. will and most often the desk has a desk Sgt. and it's their prerogative if they want a taser or not. I see nothing wrong with a desk crew having 1 taser available to them. They deal with stew bums, nuts and irate people who aren't always happy to deal with the police. We had a goof actually attempt to jump over the desk and damaged a computer monitor and a printer. He would've been a perfect candidate to be tased if the desk had one available.
If there were only a handful avaialble to the district I'd say you might have a point. Our district has about 24 available to the watch so having one assigned to the desk isn't going to drastically affect who gets to carry one on the street.
Completely off topic: Any truth from Headquarters Dugan got the riot act from Bartender Bea? Heard a rumor that the two have been in a huge power struggle since the Lopez debacle and Masters sided with Cuello. Are they trying to force Dugan to retire when J-Failure leaves..

desk sgt always keeps one in case its needed in lockup or processing... which happens alot. just sayin.. use your stick and quit relying on your taser pretty boy.
the proverb goes like this:
IF the month of March comes in like a lion, (ie., typical winter weather), it goes out like a lamb, (spring like weather)
OR
IF March comes in like a lamb, (ie., atypical spring like weather), it goes out like a lion
it all depends upon the weather.
one less piece of shit in the world...he dead!

In the 006th district, those tasers come in REAL handy for the desk crew. Unlike some other districts, only the crazies (the movie was based on any summer in Gresham) comes to the station. Saved us plenty of napkins (for the blood) and paperwork. Hate to see Miguel the custodian have to wipe up blood, bones as well as the idiots who throw their shit around like the monkeys in the zoo.

Completely true, he was as red as a beet when the female bartender put him in his place. Many holes in the drywall where he was kicking. Was muttering something about "going against nature"....

Yea, but did CPD get rid of theirs?
Regarding the carbine power test requirement. Several months ago there was an armed homicide offender running around a south side district. The man hunt was on. The w/c was on the scene coordinating a search with po's on foot. Two guys had carbines, another copper asked why those without were expected to search? His reasoning to the w/c was he was looking for the same armed bad guy and no power test is required for that.
The w/c agreed but said we all knew the answer to that.
Remember, frankenforehead has his own body guard(s) ahh driver(s).
Let's see how bad it gets come April 1st when the 6 hours of foot patrol start. Four officers walking up and down the street from 1900-0100hrs. Brain man Weis saw Philly do it and figured it would be a great idea, but in typical moronic fashion they are sticking with the new motto, "do more with less" Philly put 200 on foot, CPD is using 4...
Wish this was an April fool's joke but its not, Weis even though being told by almost all the exempts it was a bad idea, fought for it and got his way, so its happening for the next three months.
Who is the fire guy that took Morrers job at the airports?
From Chicago Breaking News:
"Police, however, said Hardy turned and pointed a gun at officers when he was told to stop during an incident near Hirsch Street and Mayfield Avenue....
"The man didn't even get to take two steps, and then he was shot..."
What would 'Lynyrd Skynyrd' say?
On a different note, word from my Sergeant and his conversation with a high ranking boss is that all officers with less than 10 years on the job will go to 401(K). For those with more than 10 years, not much will be left in the pension since many officers would be forced out.
----------------------------------
This will not happen for officers already in the system. That would be a nice lawsuit for thousands of PO's...but wait....this is Shitcago....anythings possible.
Who is this Viper character?
Since when does a man with a gun try to toss a gun and run away and expect he won't get shot dead by police?
Only in the ghetto is it expected their right to runaway. They watch too many gangster movies.
Shoot them in the back, in the ass, in the balls, anywhere you can fucking shoot them, nowhere does it say no fair to shoot in the back. both eyeballs are ok with me. Shoot and shoot to kill and don't stop shooting until the threat is neutralized.
The same scum that complain the police shot some miserable fuck in the back won't hesitate to shoot anyone anywhere anytime.
Good job officers.

If the district has a lockup it could very well be needed inside. If not, he's a wuss.
