Kids Shot; J-Fled Watch Begins
Rumbles coming and going, including this one recently:
- There is a rumor from City Hall that Shortshanks is going to buy out the contract of J-Fled because of all the shootings and all the flack from the rank and file. The details of the buyout are being worked out.
Two children were shot tonight in a playlot in the Southeast Side's Hegewisch neighborhood.
One of the victims, a boy, was shot in the side of his body and taken in critical condition to the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.
The other victim, a girl, was shot in the leg and taken in serious condition to St. Margaret Mercy Hospital in Hammond, Ind., Langford said.
As the reliably democratic voting ethnic enclaves start to see the results of no police in their neighborhoods, the pressure on Shortshanks to make a substantive move will increase, and J-Fled will serve his ultimate purpose in Daley's chess game - Pawn of Blame.

Eliminate the aldermen position in chicago entirely as a paid position. Create a voluntary alderman slot. I know that there are hundreds of activists who would do this in our city.

Activate retired mothers and fathers, business persons, anyone interseted is serving this city because they want to live in a safe and improving community.
We all see the alderpersons today. They do and offer nothing to local government that can't be done by a volunteer force.
This is what happens when you bring in a businessman to run a police department. It's ironic. Daley puts J-Fled in charge. Then Brust is brought in, then MASTERS sent over. What does Daley expect. ?You've got people witout a clue running the department and Daley calling the shots. All Daley rants about is gun bans, but refuses to hire the police needed to bring the department up to full strength. They create units that deplete the districts and expect the districts to do the job. They put all these units in certain areas and every other part of the city is left for the wolves. Parts of the city where people actually pay taxes. Daley is the problem, but as usual he will place blame everywhere else. I don't know if this department will ever become the department it was or if we could ever take back the city. With the mindset of the bosses and the way they want this department run, it will take years, if at all, to bring the city back to some normalcy. Everybody blames the cops on the street but nobody really looks at where the problem truly lies.

Hegewisch AKA Copland is a great place. I would imagine more cops per block than most places in the city just like parts of 22,8,and 16. Did you at least call 911 and give the police a description of the shooter and direction of flight?
Did you give your call back number so you could IDENTIFY the suspect if the officer's needed you to?
Do you know that if this guy did shoot someone, the fact that you saw him on the scene running away would be a nice piece of evidence in the case against him?

Even a quiet district like 012 got crazy last night. beat car arresting three assholes in ABLA ended up fighting the assholes and tasing one of them The New Breeds gathered and broke out the windows of the squad car. Bosses had everyone pull out, then regrouped and went back into ABLA arresting every "swinging dick' that was on the street. Good job by Tact,3rd Watch and 1st Watch cars....
Bosses and Police here sent a message that this bullshit won't be tolerated here. Maybe the rest of the watch commanders in the city will get some balls and do this.
Everyone needs to calm down, and get back to work. Work together to fix the city.
This department is run by the triple-lindsey of city hall, legal affairs, and IPRA. It's lawsuits, and CYA before officer lives and community safety. That's the truth. Good ideas and new programs/equipment are routinely poo-poo'ed becuase of fear of lawsuits and bad newspaper headlines. A man goes to prison, comes out a 'minister', converts a liquor store into a storefront minsitry, and his voice now controls the police. Figure that one out.
Situation will not improve if Mayor uses his standard selection criteria: Race, gender, nationality, reverund approval - all politics- and not one ounce of consideration as to actual competance and qualifications.
Look at Police and Fire Committee Alderman. All he could say about him was: "he's good" "he's very good" and "He's good in the community". He has been doing this for so long he knows no other way and doesn't realize the cumulative weight of this has wrecked the city.
Lived in Bridgeport. Brought my one year old son to an event just so he could by chance meet Old Mayor Daley which he did. Stood in line freezing for hours at his wake. Liked Richie for his first couple of terms. But he has gone completely soft. Corrupt, cynical, political, evil and mentally ill.
He is wrecking this once proud city and must go. New Superintendent will not change all of the above.
This is off the topic, but I was not sure how to bring it to anyones attention. According to fleet in order to supply enough cars for the new Summer Initiatives, cars that were scheduled to be junked are being call ed back into service. Mars lights are being reinstalled at area 1 as I write this. This does not effect me directly, but shouldn't this be a safety issue? Two weeks ago a department already short on cars was ready to junk them, but now they are exceptable?
The question is who does he replace him with. Any outsider, even an Ex-CPD (as in Huberman, Keane,etc..) will probably kill moral even more than it has already. Once the decission is made we will see if Da Mayor has any respect at all for us or the department. ALSO REMEMBER THE FIRE DEPT CURRENTLY HAS A MALE WHITE IN CHARGE, I'M JUST SAYIN...

Fled was hired to be dick's stooge. He was not allowed a free hand, not that he would have done things much different, to do it his way. Anyone promoted, units created, etc. were all done with at least tacit consent by dick.
He surrounded himself with people, policy group, that have little or no clue what policing Chicago is.
He allowed the political game to continue and made what appears to be the wrong choice at every turn.
How a super-sleuth like he didn't see the planting of Masters in his office as being his total castration boggles the mind.

Good detectives have recently retired this year from Area 2 because of that piece of shit Lt. He is a disgrace to this dept as he brother and father are to the city
Daley will buy off J-Fled and appoint someone from an minority group to be Superintendent..Hispanic or Black..It will be based upon where Daley needs the votes..I would take a guess and say Hispanic because they are making the most noise about immigration and they are much better organized on political matters where they have an interest..

After all, we all know that no mortgage broker would refuse to act for the good of the people to close a loan on his own time without being paid, or no auto mechanic would ever pass someone broken down on the side of the road, right?

you have to feel for him a little, city hall has totally hamstringed this guy - no promotions, no hiring, no say in exempt promotions!
If Daley did promote Bob Hoff fire commisioner I would be stunned. Unlike J-Fled, Hoff is actually qualifed for the job.
Please place a top cop from within who has been on the streets from the ground up.......NO CAREER MERITS, NO POLITICAL HACKS, we need a solid police leader who can also stand up to city hall and let police be police.
