Bad News

  • The White House says President Barack Obama won't be heading to the Gulf Coast in the next few days. But press secretary Robert Gibbs left open the possibility of a later presidential visit to assess the spreading oil spill.
Oh wait, now he will go (7 hours later):
  • President Obama plans to visit the catastrophe zone off Lousiana's coast within the next 48 hours as SecDef Gates mobilizes the Lousiana National Guard and WH convenes a principal-level homeland security response meeting. Republicans begin to question speed of Obama's response.
Republicans to question Obama's response? That's unpatriotic! you aren't allowed to question the president...unless it happens to be a Republican in office:
  • The rapidly expanding environmental catastrophe caused by the oil spill off the coast of Louisiana is presenting a growing political challenge to the Obama White House, with Mr. Obama and his aides at pains to defend the response and forestall comparisons to the Hurricane Katrina crisis.

  • Failure to get control of the relief effort and contain the environmental challenge could pose the same kind of political threat to Mr. Obama's popular standing that the much-criticized handling of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina did for former President George W. Bush. And unlike Katrina, it is likely the federal government will be the clear lead authority in dealing with the BP spill.
Wait a minute. What's that last line?
  • And unlike Katrina, it is likely the federal government will be the clear lead authority in dealing with the BP spill.

  • Mr. Obama's response to the disaster will be closely scrutinized for parallels to the response of Mr. Bush to the devastating Hurricane Katrina that blew into New Orleans in August 2005, destroying levies and damaging the below-sea-level city. Later assessments by some organizations found that the primary responsibility for the disaster response lay with New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin and Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco, not federal officials, but that did not lessen the political damage to Mr. Bush's administration.
Finally, a media admission that it was the state and local failures that doomed New Orleans and not Bush's fault.

And for all the drooling lefties who will start screeching in the comments about how this is different, it isn't. And it isn't so funny when the shoe is on the other foot either, is it? Don't expect to see your crap in our comment sections either.

"Officials note that a key difference between the spill and Hurricane Katrina is the pace of the onslaught of the disaster. While the hurricane hit the Gulf Coast in a fury, the oil has — literally — crept to the shores of the gulf. While the eventual harm from the leak could outstrip that of the Exxon Valdez accident in Alaska, that will not be known for weeks, if not months."

I think OBama don't like white people (kinda like what was said about Bush, Kanye West just the opposite.)
OBama acted really slow with this mess. Now the beaches from Texas to Florida are in danger. How come the Director of Homeland Security has not been replaced yet?
Just imagine if we had a God forbidden terrorist attack... He would scatter like a chicken who J-FLED!!

Watch the Democrats try to spin this into justification for “Cap and Trade”. Of course there is no logical connection between the two but logic, truth and common sense are not attributes of the Federal Government.

Amen brother! When Katrina hit, it only took the left mere hours until they started screaming that then president Bush was doing nothing. All the press coverage of people stranded on roof tops and inside the stadium with comments on how Bush had dropped the ball on this one was appalling.

Now we have another disaster and you don't see 1/4 of the coverage as we did with Katrina.

And the only difference between now and then is that this is a man made disaster.

Look for more hand outs as the oil covers the gulf side beaches, just at the beginning of the tourist season!

State and local government? How about all the stupid assholes that stayed when they should have went?

I could never figure out all the hand wringing and compassion for a bunch of idiots that couldn't look at the sky and feel the wind and get the fuck out THEN bitched and moaned and cried racism that nobody came and helped them. When you stay in a no man's zone, and you were warned to get out, had an opportunity to get out and didn't, why should anyone come and save you? I realize that police, fire and military are there to save and serve, but why be a pain in the ass and put others in danger because you're a stupid moron?

That's the one thing that always bothered me about people becoming first responders. You have to go in and help someone who caused their own predicament and risk your life in the process.

God bless you people. Really.

Censorship? Where? Here? You're a moron. Only governments can censor and we don't owe you a platform.

It's also amazing how when the republicans are in power, dissent is the highest form of patriotism, but let a democrat run things and you set world records in the category of Godwin's Law (look it up dickhead).

The passes the media gives this administration are amazing. The excuses you give it are pathetic.

To the unpublished "Fair and Balanced"

We don't claim to be FoxNews, so blow it out your ass. We make no bones about where our sympathies lie and we call it as we see it.

FEMA got the equipment and supplies where it belonged for Katrina. The failure was at the local level by Nagin and Blanco not having any plan in place - or do we really have to run the pictures of the hundreds of flooded school buses that could have evacuated New Orleans twice over and the pallets of undelivered supplies at local airports with no truck drivers in sight?

The shitheads that lived in NOLA didn't bother help in the rebuilding either. Vast number of Mexican roofer and dry wall men came to town. Piggly-Wiggly now even has a Mexican food section in its stores down there. The shitheads could have made a lot of money rebuilding but they were to freaking lazy and still are.

Let's face it, Obama is like every other "organizer", store front rev or professional protester. The only thing he has ever run is his mouth. He can only assign blame, not deal with problems. When he walks into a room full of senators or reps his condescending demeanor makes me cringe. He is the least experienced guy in that room but he buys his own b.s. that he is somehow smarter than guys with decades of experience.Come to think about it, he is alot like most of the exempts on this job.

A grim report circulating in the Kremlin today written by Russia’s Northern Fleet is reporting that the United States has ordered a complete media blackout over North Korea’s torpedoing of the giant Deepwater Horizon oil platform owned by the World’s largest offshore drilling contractor Transocean that was built and financed by South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., that has caused great loss of life, untold billions in economic damage to the South Korean economy, and an environmental catastrophe to the United States.
Most important to understand about this latest attack by North Korea against its South Korean enemy is that under the existing “laws of war” it was a permissible action as they remain in a state of war against each other due to South Korea’s refusal to sign the 1953 Armistice ending the Korean War.
To the attack itself, these reports continue, the North Korean “cargo vessel” Dai Hong Dan believed to be staffed by 17th Sniper Corps “suicide” troops left Cuba’s Empresa Terminales Mambisas de La Habana (Port of Havana) on April 18th whereupon it “severely deviated” from its intended course for Venezuela’s Puerto Cabello bringing it to within 209 kilometers (130 miles) of the Deepwater Horizon oil platform which was located 80 kilometers (50 miles) off the coast of the US State of Louisiana where it launched an SSC Sang-o Class Mini Submarine (Yugo class) estimated to have an operational range of 321 kilometers (200 miles).
On the night of April 20th the North Korean Mini Submarine manned by these “suicidal” 17th Sniper Corps soldiers attacked the Deepwater Horizon with what are believed to be 2 incendiary torpedoes causing a massive explosion and resulting in 11 workers on this giant oil rig being killed outright. Barely 48 hours later, on April 22nd , this North Korean Mini Submarine committed its final atrocity by exploding itself directly beneath the Deepwater Horizon causing this $1 Billion oil rig to sink beneath the seas and marking 2010’s celebration of Earth Day with one of the largest environmental catastrophes our World has ever seen.
To the reason for North Korea attacking the Deepwater Horizon, these reports say, was to present US President Obama with an “impossible dilemma” prior to the opening of the United Nations Review Conference of the Parties to the Treat on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) set to begin May 3rd in New York.
This “impossible dilemma” facing Obama is indeed real as the decision he is faced with is either to allow the continuation of this massive oil leak catastrophe to continue for months, or immediately stop it by the only known and proven means possible, the detonation of a thermonuclear device.

The blowout occurred on April 20. In short order, fire broke out on the rig, taking 11 lives, the rig collapsed and oil began leaking at a rate of 40,000 gallons a day. BP tried but failed to plug the well. Even so, BP appears to have remained confident that it could handle the situation with private resources (as did the administration) until Wednesday night, when, at a hastily called news conference, the Coast Guard quintupled its estimate of the leak to 5,000 barrels, or more than 200,000 gallons a day.

Only then did the administration move into high gear.

In addition to a series of media events designed to convey urgency — including a Rose Garden appearance by the president — the administration ordered the Air Force to help with chemical spraying of the oil slick and the Navy to help lay down oil-resistant booms. It dispatched every cabinet officer with the remotest interest in the disaster to a command center in Louisiana and set up a second command post to manage potential coastal damage in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida.

BP needs to be free of big Government intrusion into its oil spills. A panel of conservative Republicans Announced support for Bp's innovative plan to deliver Oil directly to coastal customers by use of Ocean Waves. This is a corporate matter.. we don't need big Government involving itself in our business...

SCC, Would you ride on a yellow school bus? I don't think so.

If President Bush really wanted to help, he would have hired all limos within a thousand miles of the ninth ward to pick up those residents and deliver them to some 5 star resort until their houses could be rebuilt, restocked, and redecorated.
Also, President Bush could have had Air Force One land in order to tie up the very limited resources of NOPD & NOFD in order to PROPERLY show the "tax payers" their proper respect! Um hmmm
