How Bad Will it Get?

- Clearly the thugs shown in this video are not deterred or frightened by men armed with military style weapons--what makes you think they'd be any more deterred by soldiers manning checkpoints? Pointing a gun at a thug who knows you have no legal justification to shoot him does nothing. Do you want soldiers going through troubled neighborhoods house-to-house, searching for wanted criminals and illegal guns like portions of the south and west sides were Fallujah? I didn't think so.
Meanwhile the Chicago Police Department, increasingly stressed and stretched, scrambles from one crisis to the next. As resources are pulled from around the city, gang members in previously "quiet" districts become increasingly bold--witness some of the incidents in Uptown, or two recent shootings in the 2300 and 2900 blocks of Armitage Avenue. The suburbs are not immune to the violence, either, as witnessed by last weekend's fatal shooting at a late-night birthday party in Zion.
Chicago is approaching the point at which a disastrous collection of social problems, failed policies, budget shortfalls and manpower issues are about to collide. It remains to be seen whether the citizens of Chicago and their political leadership have the will or wisdom to do anything about it.
"Joe" writes over at ChicagoNow.com and admits to being a suburban cop/detective. His column "Arresting Tales" is an interesting take on things and delves a bit deeper than we usually make time for. Even he sees a disaster looming for the CPD. Go read it all.

The potential is there for bad things to happen in all of these good neighborhoods. Need to protect the homeland and band together against all political rivals (i.e. reverends, alderman, mayor, J-Fled etc.)

Uptown and 2300-2900 w armitage were shit holes 20 years ago and just because idiot yuppies buy condos for big bucks in those neighborhoods doesn't mean the the area is great. People should realize what they are getting themselves into when they try to take over an area of the city.
The Burbs are turning into Chicago West thanks to Section 8 and the Yuppies who want to live closer to the perceived night life and hook up clubs. Those people are just perpetual victims that the scum prey on.
The CPD is the "exxon valdez" of law enforcement it just keeps on steaming ahead full throttle with no-body at the controls. Disaterous summer on the way and no-one can stop it. well well, I can't wait for the 3rd of July, Not only will the thug life characters be batteling in the Southside fireworks park, but these white T shirted devils will destroy Navy Pier. There are many little shops that these animals will invade, stealing what they want, and just wait until the attacks on regular families that are gathered to watch the fire works. this is a limited area and nothing good is going to come of this. Mayor Daley, what were you thinking of, just cancelled this fest altogehter or revamp it, Take a ride up to Milwaukee, they charge real money and have no problems, stop trying to apease all the folks in Chicago, and start worrying about the taxpayers and working class people. The THUGS and DogAsses don't vote anyway.

It's always been that way. Media Affairs Director drives squad car into lake while drunk. Top exempt member gets arrested by Niles PD for DUI. Another exempt repeatedly stalks ex-girlfriend. BTW, the last example was finally demoted to Lt. but only after being given two more chances. Think you would get the same courtesy?
It's time to put society back on track. The police are the law! If you get pulled over and you act like an asshole, you're gonna get a crack. If a copper tells you to do something, you do it or get a crack. If you're breaking the law, you're gonna get a crack, locked up and put in the system. The police are the executive branch of the law-we execute justice.

You're wrong my friend. The Thugs and Dogasses are controlled by the gangs and the reverends, who just happen to be the strongest voting block. The are clueless, idiots and vote to keep the free housing, food and medical coming. That is how they will control society. Kill all small business by increasing taxes and parking. Break all unions. 11500 S kedzie at the car wash just for info this is not a good place to go, black p-stones have taken over the area and sell at the car wash and use it as a meeting place to kids from Mt Greenwood. They pretend to be drying and vacuuming their cars. I got my car washed went to Dominick's and passed the car wash on the way home 1 hour later and the same guys was still drying their car. My son was there last Friday and he said he was asked if he wanted some "green or X". He no longer is allowed to go there. 2 guns recovered there the other night no arrests. Gang banger must have left them out of his car when he was cleaning it. 11700 kedzie is all section 8.

I live and mount greenwood and do call the police on teens causing problems..for example 11100 S christiana and when they come they just look and drive by the problem and keep going and the teens stay there and laugh when the police drive by. So why call the police, they don't do anything except drive by.

Read the paper. A certain mayor got his ass handed to him in the parking lot during his citys fest. Dont speak unless u know the truth. I was there last year and the thugs were out there too! They swarmed the place as it got dark outside. If you go there, be sure to leave early. I had my weapon but felt uneasy with my wife and child walking through the wall of assholes to leave. I say never again! Naperville would be a better choice.......

I have heard from a good source the problem will be non-existent soon. Daley has Weis looking into it. Weis has Cuello looking into it. Cuello has the ADS's looking into it. The ADS's have the Commanders looking into it. The Commander's have the Alderman looking into it and the Alderman went to Daley to look into it. All is well. It's all legit.

Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis today said he hopes to stay on as the city's top cop when his contract expires next year, and did not close the door on taking a pay cut to make it happen.
"Those are all things the mayor and I should probably sit down and talk (about)," Weis said when asked if he would agree to a new contract that's less than his current salary of more than $300,000 per year, tops on the city payroll. "Like I said, I love this job, and I'm sure we can work things out if we come to that point."
"I'm open to anything," Weis said when asked again if he would take less to stay. "Like I said, it's a great job."
The fests up in Milwaukee are pretty good. Most of the festivals are on the lake front and are behind a fence and they charge admission. There are no problems at the German, Polish or Italian festivals. I go there every year. You can park for 5 bucks within 2 blocks of the entrance. The city festival, however, is not in this fenced in site on the lakefront and they do have some problems. That one I would not attend. Do yourself a favor and go up for the ethnic festivals. Good food, bands ethnic bands from around the country and just a good time. Not crowded. Plenty of places to sit and eat.Not expensive.

It's working out nicely; the city is still paving and landscaping like mad on Milwaukee Avenue -- you'd think the Olympics were still coming, and were going to be held right there -- and there are big signs saying "BUSINESSES ARE OPEN DURING CONSTRUCTION."
In many cases, they're not. All of this fresh concrete sidewalk and iron grillwork and trees is in front of empty stores -- "FOR LEASE," "FOR LEASE," FOR LEASE."
The real estate insanity still hasn't stopped, either. Go west on Montrose from, say, Horner Park -- or west on Lawrence -- and look at the unsold new condos (with bulging, creaking Mexican scrap-metal trucks parked outside for local color) across the street from a vacant lot with signs promising more condos, next to a whole block-long building with all the apartments emptied out and all the storefronts boarded up, also with signs promising more condominiums.
These "developers" -- and the banks that are still lending money to build unsalable units -- are stark, staring, bug-eyed crazy. It's like they have a compulsive mental disorder. They don't know what else to do, so they do this --until they drive their Jaguars out into the Forest Preserves and blow their brains out, like real estate shark Steven Good did.
...and if they're not building condos, they're building new banks like mad -- as the FDIC takes over the one across the street.
One sees the weirdest, most inappropriate things. Example -- First Avenue and 31st Street in Brookfield, on the northwest corner. The place used to be a small independent gas station. Then the EPA destroyed it with the new rules about underground fuel tanks, so it became an auto repair place -- a muffler shop or something.
Today, it's an "Edward Jones Investments."
I wonder if they've kept the air hose you drive over to ring the service bell. Will the guy clean your windshield too?
