Hitman Dies in Jail
- During the 1970s, just the mention of hit man Harry Aleman's name was enough to strike fear into those whose doorsteps he happened upon.
"He was the hammer of the Chicago mob," said Lee Flosi, a former FBI agent who headed the Chicago office's organized crime section in the 1990s. "You never want him sitting the back seat of your car."
But long stretches in federal and state prison and cancer took their toll on the 71-year-old. His state prison mugshot shows a man with sunken eyes, wavy gray hair and a wispy mustache.
He was an historical oddity - the only person ever tried twice for the same crime. He could have shed a lot of light on Chicago history, but he never would have talked. It certainly would have been interesting for a lot of people.

The Cubs could have used him he was a great hitter.
Bob Cooley notified.
Butch will be waiting at the gates of Hell.
The person of note in the Aleman trial is Judge Neil Linehan, then ASA Linehan. He was and is the ONLY Cook County prosecutor ever to convict a made member of the Chicago Outfit of murder. Now that's historical! Aleman wasn't considered to be "tried twice for the same crime" since he paid the judge off to guarantee a "not guilty" in the first trial.
Harry was the man who killed giancanna in his basement
Evil incarnate, I hope he was in agony for a long, long time.
tayor street lost a good guy
Wow! i miss the days of seeing Aleman hanging out on Taylor street corners near the club .

and so will many others. He will be with many that are just like him.
The feared 'hitman" was a skulking lil coward. He never once in his rotten cowardly life ever went up against a guy who could defend himself. A guy who was armed. Policemen do it every day. This piece of shit worm was a pathetic weasel, more a product of the press, than reality.
Hey there!
Wuz jest fryin' up some sausage an' peppers. Want some?

So what, Scott Cassidy, the piece of garbage was also the asa on that retrial. These moron asa 's are moths attracted to lights. Mobsters and police are prime resume builders for these scumbags
Maybe 'Chicago Breaking News' could hire a proofreader? Missing words, bad grammar. What dolt wrote this?
For those of you who think those old outfit days are gone, just look at how many of the current sponsored Alderman are still around. The Burkes/ Madigans/ Daleys make me sick to my stomach.they are the public face for a very dark entity that is pure evil. Harry Aleman thrived in his heyday due to their political cover. PLEASE,PLEASE register to vote.
This should be the fate of every hitman.

Momo wouldn't let harry anywhere near his basement, at least not while he was cooking peppers and sasseege.
The Ant
Aleman was the real Hitman. Thomas Hearns admired his work so much he called himmself Thomas "Hitman" Hearns. That is where it came from. Hearns invited Aleman to sit ringside at his fight with Pipino Cuevas in Detroit in 1978.

The rumor was that two CPD detectives were sitting on Giancana's house 24/7 but conveniently took a coffee break just before the hitman came in, did his deed, and left with the sausage and peppers on the stove. What kind of timing is that? Just a cup of coffee away from catching a hitman! What a coincidence.

What, die of old age?
I agree with 5/16/10 12:10 pm. Mob enforcer my ass. He like the mob and all mob enforcers are little pieces of shit called dingleberrys who stick to your ass. This applies to numerous union BA's too. They pray on the weak or the desparate. If I ever had some so called mob enforcer on my ass trying to cut their way into my business, my Glock 22 would do the talking and their narrow asses would be burning in the alley trash can behind my business. Must have been dumped their by someone officers. Fuck Harry, fuck the little mob maggots. I hope the son of a bitch suffered and every member of his rotten family suffers on their death bed too. So long asshole, burn in hell.

In the joint, of cancer...Smartass.
Say what you will but he never killed some 6 year old kid playing on the corner while trying to shoot some other punk because he lived on the wrong block. Bottom line is Harry killed a whole lot of people. People who were either outfit guys themselves or chose to do business with the outfit. I'd rather have Harry living on my block than any of these doo-rag wearing savages that will shoot anyone for no valid reason. On the plus side Harry was always wiling to push the button on a rapist or pedophile gratis.
I never understand prople's infatuation with the mob or criminals of the past.
Al Capone was nothing but a murdering piece of shit who probably was directly responsible for the murder of numerous police officers.
Dillinger killed at least one police officer in Indiana.
Bonnie and Clyde did the same.
Same thing with the mob, fuck all of them-no better then the jagoffs we deal with on a daily basis.
OT....I cant wait to see the villians in the new Fox series "Ride Along" set in our shithole city. Something tells me viewers will be shocked to see our violence is actually caused by the Russian Mob, crooked cops, or rich corporate white guys with british accents.
Anyone seen Whitey?
"Say what you will but he never killed some 6 year old kid playing on the corner while trying to shoot some other punk because he lived on the wrong block..."
Personally, I prefer organized crime to this disorganized gangsta shit. At least you knew where you stood.

Lighten up Francis.
I am not Francis, I am a citizen troller who forgot to put that ID upfront in my post. You know, when I think of shit like Aleman, I also think of Hillside PD Anthony Raymond. I grieved for his children and his wife too. And his poor parents. You see, when the three wise guys robbed the restaurant at Cermak and Mannheim in Hillside in 72, Raymond happened to make a traffic stop on them. They kidnapped him, tortured him, stabbed him and strangled him. They then drove him to Wisconsin and buried him. I am still sore about that and I was just some punk 19 yr old suburban kid at the time. These wise guys are friends of Harry Aleman and they are not to be admired. You who think you would rather live with THAT trash than some hood rat leave me astounded. They all peddle misery, as if you can trust Harry Aleman. Garbage is garbage and I do not want to know where I stand with trash. I often wonder about wise guys who wind up dead and you coppers write it off as a gang dispute. Ever wonder if some Joe did a hit of his own when he was backed up against the wall? This gang lore is bullshit. I stand by what I said; they prey on the weak or the desparate.
This mudball, and scores like him operated with impunity thanks largely to currupt politicians re-elected by morons, corrupt policemen-bosses and blue shirts alike, and judges. The Billy Logan murderer was ID'ed in a photo spread the next day-the detective informed his corrupt Irish V/C lieutenant who tried to do everything he could to screw-up the investigation and when he failed, a corrupt Irish lawyer named Cooley bought off a turkey judge. Keep voting for these dogs and you deserve everything you get.
"Mudballs", "Turkeys", you have your facts screwed up smart guy. The detective notified his corrupt non-Irish VC sergeant who buried the case.
Aleman supossedly made the hit at Mama Luna's on Fullerton before they moved to the much bigger, nicer place.
a corrupt Irish lawyer named Cooley bought off a turkey judge. Keep voting for these dogs and you deserve everything you get.
I never heard of any Irish "made guy", but then again "they" use Irish names sometimes. Haunting isn't it?
We can clear this point up by asking the former Area 5 "turkey" detective now retired Lt who got the id. You can find him in Lake Geneva around this time of year. You can also ask the retired "turkey" and "mudball" detectives from Area 5 who actually arrested that POS and got him charged. No an easy task for a bunch of "corrupt" detectives.
As a citizen troller, I look at this whole mob business with Aleman and the unconnected Raymond case with some irony. Whoever posted after me is exactly correct. These mudballs live and prosper because of crooked politicians, courts, weak people and I am sorry to say some cops put on and are on the pad because in some cases, of the
1st Ward political structure. With that said, it was the convicted jewel thief Dep. Sup. Hanhardt who cracked the Raymond case. While it turned out he was a crook, at least in the end he brought justice for a suburban copper who was denied it for a long time. And most of all, for the Raymond family. I liken people who stick up for the likes of Harry Aleman to those imbiciles who think Jesse James was a good man. The good men were those citizens who took to arms in Northfield MN and shot it out with Jesse James and his criminal gang. Those are the men who had guts. Those are the good men and those citizens who gave their lives saving their community are the heros.
