Suburban Shooting - in Chicago

  • A person was taken to a hospital from the West Garfield Park neighborhood after being shot by a police officer, authorities said Thursday night.

Preliminary details were sketchy, but Broadview police assisted Hillside police in pursuing a carjacking suspect out of Hillside, a Broadview police sergeant said. A Chicago Police News Affairs officer confirmed that a carjacking suspect made it inside Chicago city limits.

The police pursuit ended on Keeler Avenue and Van Buren Street in Chicago. At some point, the pursuit of the suspect had proceeded onto the Eisenhower Expressway at 1st Avenue in Maywood. The vehicle exited the expressway in Chicago at Cicero Avenue, an Illinois State Police trooper said.

We're going to go out on a limb here and guess the criminals were headed home to the west side when they assumed they were "Home Free" in the city before being forcibly disabused of that notion. Best wishes to the officers involved.

To any and all CPD and suburban coppers that helped out with the chase that was just prior to this one from Elmhurst to the south side....A BIG THANK YOU to all of you for the help. Rat caught doing a retail theft hit and dragged one of our coppers about 50-100 feet through a parking lot and then tried to get back home to the south side of the city. He didn't make it thanks to all that helped. It's always a pleasure to go east when chasing some rat cuz we know there will be a ton of help. THANKS AGAIN

wild nite in chicago scc. last nite a lot of action all over the place. unfortunately some officers were injured hopefully nothing serious. two crashes. no word on how serious. off duty p.o. shot at, no injury. carjacking and kidnapping on the west side that ended up in 016th. kudos to the sgt that allowed the chase to continue because there were two children that were kidnapped and were still in the car. after a short pursuit, shithead taken into custody and children returned safe.
hope that the officers from the halstead south accident are ok, and our prayers are with them and their families. the most important thing is to go home each and every nite we work.

Is the Van-Keeler Lounge still there? (4156 V-B) Memories of the Snulligan Brothers (there had to be a dozen of them and they all had I.R. Nos.) Their mama should have drowned them when they were infants.

Sgt's contract vote is out. PBPA strongly urges members to ratify this insulting contract. Is this new leadership already bought out by Daley & Co? Google Boston Fire dept contract and see what an arbitrator just gave them. 19% over four years. Yes this was from an arbitrator! And unlike here, the PD has a mee too clause that enables their membership to receive the same even though they just negotiated 14% raise over 4 years. Ratify MY ASS, PBPA get ready for arbitration!

We also have the me-too clause, listen, the contract will be ratified, the arbitrator did a great job, explained every aspect of his decision to the nth degree, we weren't gonna do any better, quit complaining and be happy to have a job that actually gave a raise and no increase in health costs.

Saw the Elmhurst chase, there had to be around 40 squads involved in that one and that was before it got on to the 290 at Austin

Are you serious? Do you actually believe we will get more in arbitration? In this City? In this State???? I know its in a policeman's nature to be cynical about everything all the time, but this is one battle you need to give up on. I'm voting to ratify, we are not going to get a better raise than what is now offered, and to be honest, with all the union buddies of mine out of work and struggling to make ends meet, are we really in a position to bitch about our raise not being big enough? We make pretty
good money for what we do, and yes in a perfect world I would have liked to have gotten a bigger raise, but let's be honest, it's not going to happen! Voting against and going to arbitration is going to drag on for months and months and we'll end up with the same thing that we can sign off on now. Go ahead and call me a "union guy" or "cloutbaby" or whatever, but I don't know a soul on the PBPA board and I'm not meritorious...I respect your opinion, just respectfully disagree..Stay Safe

If you would rather have Boston FD pay it might be arranged. I'm sure daley would rather pay us that salary instead of what we get. Boston FD with that 19% arbitration raise is still LOWER paid than the step 10 CPD officer.

19% sounds great on it's face but it is still less than we make. Still want that Boston FD pay?

Fuck Kirshner, who was put in by Daley in a phony election to run the PBPA Sergeant's Association. Vote No! And shame on those racist suburban police for coming in to Chicago to shoot our young black honors students like dogs in the street.

Seeing how CPD Sgts DOES have me-too with CFD, ratifying their contract can do no harm if fire gets something better. Obviously you don't read everyting. No way CPD Sgts get more $ than FOP in arbitration. Fantasy world. Boston fire has 1,400. CPD has 12,000+ (depending who you believe)

With the concessions Boston made including health insurance, sick leave and pay grades, CPD loses none of these. Boston got a 10yr rolling residency provision. CPD wont get residency in arbitration, as it's not mandated by Illinois state law. Several health care changes and 'give backs' on unit grievences also dimish the contract. Boston never said they didnt have the money, all through negotiations. Daley did.

As well, the Boston City Council will meet next week to begin the deliberation process. If the Council votes not to fund the contract, it is null and void and the negotiation must start again.

Bet the mortgage. Arbitration in Chicago is a loser gamble.

Ratify.

NBC announced it was cancelling Law & Order. Instead, it will remiere L&O LA and L&O Chicago.......

"The unique thing about L&O Chicago is it will focus exclusively on white collar crimes of local & state politicians. No longer will we have bloody murders etc except for an occasional
'suicide' here or there. There is a plethora of stories, enough for years to come...."

OT.

The CBS Nationwide Evening News just compared Newark and Chicago concerning crime rates and crime fighting, with the slant being Chicago should learn from Newark.

And guess the name of the man at the helm of the Newark Police Department? The name is Garry McCarthy, a retired NYPD Chief, and, for those of you that might not remember or were not around, McCarthy was a finalist for our top job in 2003, along with Joe "Smooth and Slick" DeLopez and Phil "The Fat Flim-Flam Man" Cline. Shortshanks gave the job to Cline. Shortshanks can sure pick them. Two goofs in a row, Cline followed by J-FLED.

And, either the CBS producer for this story is related to McCarthy or it was just a wonderful coincidence, but either way, it was fantastic to see them lauding McCarthy's Newark Police Department and his innovative and effective leadership while pointing to a rising murder rate in Chicago that mare shortshanks and J-FLED have been unable to thwart. Never trust the news media, but this story was a very enjoyable piece of reporting! It was a big fuck you to mare shortshanks and J-FLED!

And the most memorable quote from the story comes from J-FLED. He said,

quote,

"I cannot believe that it is normal for Chicago to have more than one homicide a day."

end quote.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that quote came from the mouth of our leader and it was broadcast across the nation. What a dumb fuck!

Our own J-FLED is worse at extemporaneously responding to an interviewer than shortshanks, if that is even possible!

WAY OFF TOPIC; Re News against Cubs/Sox in AZ

As a hispanic male who was born in the USA to immigrants that came to America in 40's I think what you are doing is pathetic. Our culture is of fighters and explorers, NOT victims. The law in AZ is NOT a racial profiling law, it is a law designed to give police the tools necessary to combat a very real and expensive threat to this country. PLEASE READ THE LAW! The law doesn't give police the right to walk up to anyone and ask for papers as you and your supports said on the news, it allows them to enforce a more restrictive version of the current federal law that NO ONE IS ENFORCING NOW!
I was raised to be colorblind and I am an American before I am a Hispanic. STOP THIS NOW! Encourage legal immigration and assimilation. Let's show the world that Hispanics are not victims but leaders. Let's show the world that we will not be turned into victims like the black panthers and democrats have turned black Americans into. They have no moral compass, identity or culture because they are the left's welfare voter base and are happy to be given everything. Hispanics are not victims should be your motto.

Please stop! Be proud to be an American! Share your ancestry and culture, but be an American first.
