Wait - He Was Guilty?

Bet the jury never hears about this one:
  • A man who says that he was beaten into confessing to a pair of killings by detectives working under disgraced former Chicago Police Cmdr. Jon Burge pleaded guilty to one of the 1990 murders today -- even though he still insists he is innocent.

Flint Taylor, one of Cortez Brown's lawyers, claimed his client only pleaded guilty to murdering Curtis Sims so Brown could start a new life as a free man as soon as possible.

Uh, yeah. I'm guilty, but I'm really not, and I want to be considered "time served" so I can sue someone for something.
  • Assistant Attorney General Vincenzo Chimera presented evidence linking Brown to Sims' murder, specifically pointing to a 9mm Taurus used in the shooting that was purchased by Brown's mother just weeks before.
Golly, that's an odd set of coincidences.

Or it's a stinking pile of horseshit.

We're going to go with door #2 on this one.

Flint Taylor will find a way to sue on the behalf of Brown and collect for himself!

If he pled guilty a second time, Brown has very little legal standing if he tries to have the conviction overturned or sue the city.

Then again, this is bizzarro world now.

If he's innocent then the judge should not have taken the plea. If he goes on record now and claims innocence, the judge should vacate his plea (on the State's motion). Pleading guilty to a lesser does get him out sooner and does not waive any physical abuse claims.

ITK

How can Mr. Burge get a fair trial in this city? Couldn't they have asked for the trial to be moved?...Not a police officer

So.....he perjured himself by pleading guilty when he is innocent. So now he is a convicted murderer that now must go back to jail for perjury, right?

Man, the Crook County criminal court system is really hard to understand.

A short time ago, there was an Illinois Supreme Court decision upholding a 20 year sentence for a man convicted of a felony in Leo Holt's courtroom of all places.

In that case, the man agreed to plead guilty to a nice 6 year term, but then told Leo that although he was pleading guilty, he was actually innocent.

Leo blasted the defendant, "You're not going to shame me or this court!" You see, unlike Judge Clayton Crane, Leo had at least a smigen of dignity. Leo wasn't going to surrender his integrity by accepting a guilty plea by a defendant who was claiming he was actually INNOCENT!

So, Leo ordered up a trial, found the defendant guilty, and sentenced the defendant to 20 years.

The Illinois Supreme Court said that rejecting a guilty plea from a defendant proclaiming innocence was A-OK and they upheld the conviction along with the 20 year sentence. In Illinois, there must be a FACTUAL BASIS for a judge to accept a guilty plea.

How lucky for this defendant that Judge Clayton Crane doesn't have as much integrity as Leo Holt.

Judge Crane has just allowed an "innocent man" to plead guilty.

Judge Crane has shamed our justice system. You see, in our justice system, innocent people are not supposed to be allowed to plea guilty because they want a shorter sentence.

People claiming innocence are supposed to go to trial by a judge or a jury of their peers.

Thankfully for this defendant, Judge Crane could care less about justice.

They are all guilty. They are the worst of the worst. When these vile recidivists begin (if they haven't already) once again to rape, murder, burn their victims alive etc, there will be no detectives willing to go after these scumbags. They, and the useless felonious governor currently imprisoned, succesfully brought down the best dicks in the city. Who the hell is going to take the chance of being next?

I was unlucky enough to be driving on the northside Saturday morning and I heard that liberal pussy Spencer Thunderbutt from Copwatch on WNUR. Instead of respecting Burge as the hero he is this fuck called Burge a psycho and a child molester. It was on some show called This Is Hell and it was hell listening to this piss ant make alligations against Burge. This show has got to be taken off the air! Call the WNUR General Manager Doug Kaplan at 847-491-7101 or email him at gm@wnur.org and tell him to keep these hippies the fuck off the air.
