Carnage Continues

The final tally for the weekend - 54 shot and 10 dead. Add in the stabbings and the numbers approach 70 aggravated battery victims, mostly "outies," which means mostly preventable according to J-Fled, which means J-Fled's policies (as well as J-Fled), are failures.

Monday night didn't provide any relief as the Northwest side gets in on the act:
  • At least five people were injured in shootings Monday afternoon to early Monday evening on the South and Northwest Sides.

A teenaged boy was seriously wounded when shot in the leg in the Albany Park neighborhood this evening, authorities said.

ABC National News picked up on the story, so a "J-Fled Watch" is now in effect for the Chicago area since nothing annoys Shortshanks more than having Chicago come under a microscope and him looking bad as an administrator.

A lot of police are not being aggressive like they used too and the ignorant criminal bent people are getting their way and feel like they can do whatever they damn please. There were valid points brought up about police brutality, but then all law enforcement got effected and with all the lawsuits and the rule changes and such, policing is not what it used to be. So, this is what happened. It ain't pretty, is it.

Actually, this citizen reader thinks Daley IS a failed adminisrator. The good and the bad of the City is the result of his leadership. So you decide if the quality of life is good in your city and to what extent. Many people who come to Chicago only know it because of the lakefront. They think it is great and oh what an exciting and beautiful city. But that beauty is only skin deep. They don't go to places like Englewood, Avalon, Jeffrey Manor or other places where most of the people live. You know, where people live and what a city really is. Daley has forgotten vast areas of the city and because of it, businesses and their jobs have vanished. With that has gone hopes, dreams, prosperity and the result is people are left to try to survive by any means possible. We are finding it isn't pretty and will not get better. The worst part of all, no one is stepping forward to challenge this incompetent and blithering idiot. And that is the surprising part of the whole thing. A horribly mismanaged city and there is no one challenging Daley. You would think a potential mayoral hopeful somebody would be publicly positioning themselves to at least criticize Daley for his failures and there is no one. So the lack of leadership is shocking to me. Shocking is Not a bunch of savages cutting, beating and shooting each other. That IS what they do. You folks stay out of their way and be safe out there.

Every time I read about things like this, it makes me want to forget about ever visiting Chicago. I'm guessing a lot of what happened was/were in undesirable parts of the city, but it's the same thing that kept me out of Philly for MANY years, even though I only lived a few minutes outside of the city.

Please don't take my comment personally, either. I worry about safety, and even though I know something terrible could happen in a city of millions or a town of hundreds, the city still scares the hell out of me.

Please be safe out there.

It's one thing that we are treated as ignorant sometimes by the citizens and even more disgusting, by our own supervisors. There are many of us out here that know what we are doing and how to handle situations. However, we feel our hands are tied and we have no support to do so. This alone is a tragedy compounding a larger issue. We have no leadership and faith in the people in charge. Yes we have people on paper that claim to be our leaders, however they are not trusted, respected or seen as a positive factor among our department. It's a shame that our Mayor Daley no longer cares for this city. If he did, he would let Jody go, promote a respected and dedicated boss. Not a twice merit promotion non-respected puppet, to begin. He would back the department and the men and women out there doing it everyday. Stop being fake Mr. Mayor and stop ignoring the real problem, yes there is a one thousand pound elephant in the room, look at it, talk about it and take care of it.

Successful schools = FATHERS present. Stop spending money on fruitless programs, put the onus on the people who are responsible, the dead beat dads and Baby mommas who keeping having fatherless children. The blueprint for success is ever present in many areas of the city and in a copy cat society why has nobody suggested that the troubled neighborhoods follow the blueprint of the successful hoods, why? off topic: i was in br 50 yesterday, and a 16th dist officer had a gun case in where he and his partner pulled into an alley at foster/cumberland area and observed a 18yrs old gang member put a 9mm rifle into the trunk of his car. I and other officers in the court room listened to the testimony of the officer, None of the officer's in the court room could belive it when judge kull said "finding no probable cause". Then we heard that this newly appointed judge has thown out several gun cases in the past weeks that should have not been thrown out. I know for a fact that this judge was a high paid lawyer on retainer for several street gang's before his apointment. This judge should be at the daley center hearing divorce cases, not criminal cases. He is no friend of the police.

Chicago to spend $25 million to fight school violence

"And another $4.7 million will establish a school community watch program in 13 high schools identied by the Chicago Police Department as having high crime and active gang conflicts.
Most of that money will be used to pay 390 community “watchers” hired through 14 community organizations. There’ll be 20 to 30 of them per neighborhood, assigned to keep watch along designated safety routes during arrival and dismissal times. They’ll have two-way radios to communicate with school officials and police.

Hey SCC maybe you could bring to light this story of a Sgt. and his abuse of power and size in 023. This stuff has been going on a long time with this Sgt. and the bosses cover it up. Typical that the Lt. doesn't talk to the P.O.'s that witnessed this behavior. Not one person, even other Sgt.'s like this guy. Once again different rules for different folks and bosses cover bosses. It's SCREW the P.O.'s again! With stories like this, no wonder aggressive policing is a thing of the past.

Anonymous said...

As for the "chest bumping", this was actually a battery to a PO by the sgt. Sgt BK shoved PO KM after getting right in his face. This was witnessed by a number of POs on scene. Sgt BK then called for a Lt from the 23rd district to come into 20 and initiate his CR. The Lt refused to interview any of the POs on sceneand initiated the CR based on his sgt's allegations. But what did we expect. This was how a battery to a PO by a sgt was downgraded to a simple chest bumping. Kind of like what they do to the city's crime stats.

Channel 9 Noons News just showed Nancy Loo reporting live from Hirsch Metro High School at 77th Ingleside about the new and timely (?) initiatives announced by the shanks in response to all the recent shootings in Chicago.

In a recorded clip from this morning's news conference, shanks asked, "Do you know how many guns shot people this weekend?"

Shanks is totally out of his mind. And Loo did not identify the initiatives, but, if she did, I was too busy to hear them because of wretching in disgust at the delusional shanks.

Not sure where J-Fed is at, but the supervisors don't know shit. Why? Because there is only 1 or 2 a watch. if that. More than half the time some PO is subbing as the Desk SGT.

We have plenty of sergeants in 007. No problem here. A 2 year wonder even manages to get a summer furlough. We have sergeants on medical, IOD, detailed out, furlo, caps, tac, etc. and we take care of out senior desks officers by paying out of grade to be the desk sarge! Great bosses (bubblehead is on medical)Shit, man; there isn't a better place to work!

Not enough HGS dicks in A/2 to handle the shootings. The dicks were getting back to back shootings no chance to clear anything. I know the clearance rate sucks but it will keep going down. No one even cares anymore not going to take the chance of being sued and punitive damages, Chicago will be Detroit in 5-10 years only bigger and more violent.

I would like to commend Mayor Daley on his ranting today at a press conference with Ron (aint never done a days honest work) Huberman.

To all you fine citizens do not let the mayors smoke screen fool you. the majority of these shootings and by majority I mean 99.75% are either gang or drug related.

Look back over the last 5 to 7 years and see how we have gotten to this point.

Less police on the street and all the shitbags know this.

Not allowing the police to rule the street the way it once was and the shitbags know this.

And the big one, not showing support for the officers against the media that bashes us.

Hey FOP make some fucking noise when you should make some noise.

You are to busy selling your officers down the river with this past contract.

Hey good citizens we have gone to a 4 on 2 day off format. Do you know what that means? LESS POLICE ON TE STREET and the shitbags know it.

The liberal fucks , media , and mayor and all his henchmen have given birth to this new wave of crime and now he tries to deflect it all away from him and blam it on guns. the last time i checked i have never seen a gun go off and kill someone on its on.

people kill people , guns dont kill people.

and mr mayor you created this monster when you took the teeth out of your police dept and gave the streets to the shitbags.

The chicago river will be flowing red this summer because it will be one of the bloodiest this city has ever seen and we have the mayor and all his henchmen to thank.

you should be disgusted what this city is turning into !!

congratulations Mr Mayor you have done one hell of a good job.

Here is the problem, NO FATHERS. Look at the successful neighborhoods in the city and they are most definitely neighborhoods where FATHERS are a daily influence on their children. I guess racism gets in the way.

off topic: i was in br 50 yesterday, and a 16th dist officer had a gun case in where he and his partner pulled into an alley at foster/cumberland area and observed a 18yrs old gang member put a 9mm rifle into the trunk of his car. He is no friend of the police

HOW ABOUT THIS ONE YESTERDAY AS WELL IN BR.50... BY THE SAME FUCKING JUDGE
A 014 OFFICER WENT TO GANG DISTURBANCE CALL ON THE 1700 BLOCK KIMBALL WHEN OFFICERS ARRIVED ONE OF THE MUTTS STOOD UP DROPPING A 9MM HANDGUN AND THE REST OF STORY DEVELOPED IN THE COURT ROOM AND HERE ARE THE RESULTS
Result - The Judge Geary Kell found probable cause on the Felony Poss of firearm charge but at the same time found no probable cause on the Valdez Law Violation even thought the officer gave excellent testimony about the visible gang affiliation officer describing tattoos on the defendant's body.

As to not getting your renewal--we all know we have to have them, we are all over 21 and we (well most of us) have IQs in the triple digits, if you use the excuse that you didn't get a renewal--you're a putz.

"I know the constitution guarantees the right to keep and bear arms..." he said and went on to say we (Chicagoans, I guess) "...like the gun ban."

He challenged the Chief Justice to walk the streets of Chicago.

If I remember correctly, the Supreme Court is located in Washington, D.C., where they overturned that gun ban. Don't D.C. and Chicago vie for "Murder Capital" every few years? Chicago can't be much more dangerous than D.C.

Near the interview wrap up, Looza asked ayers if he had any regrets. ayers swiftly and arrogantly put it right back on Looza, asking Looza to be specific. Looza couldn't/wouldn't do it and the slick ass ayers slithered out of answering the question.

Looza is inept as an interviewer and should resign in disgrace. He foolishly went up against a wily tiger without a whip, chair or working brain cell and lost big time. Eddie Gooflooza disgraced himself.

As much paperwork and bullshit reports that is requested daily of our District, the POD missions we could do here in our own District with LD personnel amongst the many other daily tasks that we need assistance with as to not take a full duty officer from the street, why would you think JFED that the Districts do not need bodies?

--------------

Gang affiliation can ONLY be proven with an admission.

off topic: i was in br 50 yesterday, and a 16th dist officer had a gun case in where he and his partner pulled into an alley at foster/cumberland area and observed a 18yrs old gang member put a 9mm rifle into the trunk of his car. He is no friend of the police

--------------

I believe that you are still paid for your court appearance even if the defendant is released.

So, the question is....who gives a shit what the judge does?

You need to put down these illusions that you are making this county a better place by arresting one more member of the criminal element.

That "J-Fled, it's time to pack the cats" comment was brilliant!!!

For some reason, the phrase 'packing the cat' makes me think of something completely different.....

The point is getting a person off the streets that doesn't deserve being on the streets that could harm you or your family or some other innocent person. If you're doing your job, the Judge should be doing their job.

Also, you need to take a long hard look in the mirror and ask yourself, "Am I really a cop?" Because with statements like yours, I do not want you on my streets.

6/23/2010 09:32:00 AM

Yes, but that admission must be backed up by other proof IE tattoos! I put down on an UUW arrest that the offender is a self admitted GD. The states attorney asked if I am going for the Valdez law I said, "No, that is impossible to get." She said, "I hear ya!"

"Heard they're setting up triage tents at Daley Plaza in case firefights between warlords erupt at Taste."

--6/22/2010 11:03:00 PM

Don't forget the little black machines in front of the tents. No one admitted without a sticker on their forehead. Hope you've got the right change...

By the way...did the Jamaican government ever root that drug lord out of the slum in Kingston, or has he just sort of disappeared? They killed something like 50 people, but so far I've heard no results.

You're not really safe anywhere anymore.

"Thug life" is a consumer product. Pick out and study those who produce it and market it to your children. Name names. Look at the faces.

There you will have your answer.

O.T. I have yet to receive my city sticker renewal in the mail and when I asked the guys on the watch most were in the same boat as me. I have no problem with going out and getting it on my own, but is the city trying to pull a fast one? Even if it came today there is no way I would get the new sticker in time. And you know the inspectors will be out in the parking lots on 01-Jul-10 checking our cars. Anyone else have this problem?

6/22/2010 09:29:00 AM

I chose to mail mine out this year because I didn't want to wait in line. Mailed it out on 24 May and I'm still waiting.

How about because these assholes that get let go by these judges usually end up killing someone, and that someone has been shown to be a cop, in far too many instances, and we are tired of it. One jagoff in prison for gun possession keeps one of us alive.

You need to get off your lazy ass and be part of the solution, instead of a condescending prick...

Signs and portents

Things lining up nicely for Chalkie 2010 --

* First day of summer

* Summer solstice (longest day of year)

* Hot, humid, unsettled weather

* Taste of Chicago and other mass events

* Saturday, June 26 -- Full moon AND partial lunar eclipse on the same night.

* ...and now, earthquakes. "From the sixth floor of her condo in downtown Arlington Heights, Ellen Hanrahan said she felt her building do 'a back and forth sway for about eight seconds.' She said her cat stopped eating 'and hunkered down on the floor -- which is very strange for him.'"

Ooo-WOO-ooo. Very strange for everyone. Gonna be a bad weekend. Bad, bad, bad.

how about this.....there are people, who constitute a class of people (lowest class, underclass?), who, by their behavior, do not deserve, or are not entitled, to be within or among decent Americans.....how's that for starting a discussion?

If this was garbage filling up ours streets the mayor would be forced to fire somone for not doing his job. But j fed is hated by all working chicago police officers so mayor daley feels that j fed is a perfect fit to run the department, The reason being daley hates all city workers and unions because they cost him $$$$$$$$$$$$. Daley's gotta go, where is DAVID HOFFMAN

I think the whole Deparatment should get a new ribbon to wear on our uniforms. A "Summer of 2010 Violence Increase Award". At least J-Fed and his policy group would have one more to proudly display, next to their lonely "Appearance Award"they gave themselves. Oh I forgot, they are giving themselves one for the silly useless handbook they put together.
