No Gun Meeting for You!

If Shortshanks doesn't like your message, he'll cancel your meeting:
  • Gerald Vernon says he did everything he should have to obtain a permit to hold a meeting at the Tuley Park field house on the south side. He told the park supervisor he expected 150 to 200 people to attend, filled out the paperwork she gave him, paid a $100 fee, and walked away thinking he'd reserved a meeting room for the evening of June 30. The group that would be convening was Illinois Carry, an organization advocating for the right to bear concealed firearms.

But on Wednesday, a week before the scheduled date of the event, he got a call telling him his permit had been revoked.

Vernon says a Tuley Park official informed him he has to submit a new permit application that will be reviewed before he gets approval for the meeting. But when I contacted the park and asked about it, I was told the event had been canceled altogether.

Says Vernon: "This just sounds a whole lot like Daley's bullshit."

Once again, the Chicago Reader, a staunchly liberal paper given away for free, is the only media outlet giving voice to the other side in Chicago. The author, Mike Dumke, has admitted to supporting much of Daley's anti-gun agenda, but even he smells the heavy-handedness of this move by Shortshanks.

Monday is going to be an entertaining day to say the least.

Lawsuit, violation of the first ammendment. He did everything that the city wanted of every other group. But was selectively denied.
Would be nice if a constitutionaly friendly attorney take the case pro bono.

Daley does it again. He's opened up the city to the potential of a civil rights lawsuit for trying to silence a message that HE doesn't want to hear, BUT MANY OTHERS DO.

Daley is a bully and thinks he can push people around until he gets his way. If I had anything to do with this meeting or organization, I'd be in Federal Court Monday morning seeking an emergency restraining order against the Park District for violation of civil rights or whatever law fits.

And I'd also be demanding that an injunction be placed against the Daley Crime Family from interfering with the freedoms, guaranteed by the
U S Constitution, of the peoples right to assemble peacefully and that the meeting be allowed to be held as planned barring a LEGITIMATE reason not to.

This little arrogant stuttering prick has got to be stopped! The past has shown that the ONLY way to do that is in Federal court!

I guess the city don't need the money and they would reather the gangsters meet on the play ground that day...... Why let honest people meet and use the park.

Daley's got to go and it won't be to soon for me, vote, and vote him "OUT"! Put Daley on the unemployment line, where he belongs.

We know King Daley's opinion of the Second amendment. Now he has trashed the First amendment in a vain attempt to preserve his strangle on the second amendment. Remember Meigs field? He trashed the Fourth amendment. What's next?

Chicago residentsd have a long history of suffering fools. They have believed the lie of gun control beginning with King Richard the 1st. Now, King Richard the Lesser is continuing the lie.Wake up Chicago. You have the God given right to defned yourself and the US Constitution put it in writing. Richard the Lesser has already denied yourr 2nd Amendment rights and is now denying your 1st Amendment rights.

How long before he decides to begin searchiong your homes for your safety and denying your religiopius freedom Don't think it's possible?
Then how come he can get away with forbiding a meeting bnecause it disagrees with his philosophy?

Daley's gun control os racist. Free African-Americans were forbidden the rioght to keep and bear arms at the end of the civil war. They were also forbidden the right to assemble and to present grievances.
This is just Richard the Lesser's attempt to turn back the clocks on racial civil rights.

Yea, I know - a rhetorical question.

Let's hope he keep his fingers off the Second Amendment Freedom Rally at the Thompson Center on July 9th at 11 AM. It's on state property but Shortshanks runs the state too.

They would NEVER even think about thinking about denying a permit for anyone else, like gay-rights group, anti-war, etc. Hell, even the G-D Nazis can get a permit.

But not a pro 2nd Amendment group.

They should reapply. If the need money for a lawsuit, I'm in.

Have the meeting anyway, if he can bulldoze a runway, people (citizens of this great country) can have a free speech meeting.

The NRA got Polosi and Reid to include them into their sleazy DISCLOSE Act.

"Now the NRA are the big defenders of the Second Amendment of the Constitution, the right to bear arms. But yet they think it's all right to throw everybody else under the table so they can get a special deal, while requiring everyone else to comply with all the rules outlined in this bill, and frankly, I think it's disappointing." -- House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH), June 24, 2010

I called NRA and canceled my membership.

Not A Cop.

You sir, are an ASSHAT.

Why?

Because you rely on the mainstream media's account to tell you of the NRA's position. The mainstream media that HATES the NRA and is dedicated to its destruction.

If you really want to know the NRA's position, go here:

In either case, STFU and stay off this blog.

You can talk about law suits against the city all that you want, but until you have been involved in one, you have no idea of what you are up against. The city will fight everything tooth and nail and it will cost you a lot of money and aggravation. They do not care about the costs. Sometimes it just is too much . Unless you have the backing of a law firm or a group, you are going to an uphill fight.

This such a blatant violation of the 1st Amendment that it's a no lose in Federal court. In fact, it's such a gimme, that I doubt Daley himself could screw it up.

And it's the kind of thing that even the ACLU can get behind.

Richard J. Daley was Chicago's Saddam Hussein. Little Dick and William are the Uday and Qusay.

Here's to SCOTUS giving Little Dick a TOW missile up his ass tomorrow.

Heavy handedness my ass says a citizen reader. It is a constitutional right for the citzens to lawfully assemble and speak. Gerald needs to have an attorney handle the matter for him OR, disobey the government, find himself under arrest. You see, then he can go after the diminuative little idiot and his corrupt government. And by the way, sometimes you will find some interesting articles in the Reader. It often has its own brand of sarcasim and wit that is at times refreshing. A good while back, I read a piece on Lt. Burge that was surprisingly fair. Sure it was critical but it also covered some highlights of his career that were impressive. These things were never said about him in the biased establishment media outlets. And I will tell you Jackie and Andrew Wilson should have been beaten and lynched by an anrgry mob of residents at 83rd and Morgan. What supposedly happend to them was nothing.

If the people decided to rally for that meeting in Tully park and the leader wanted them out and ordered his police boss to evict them forceibly would you do it? If Daly got one of his owned judges to approve some bullshit warrants wanted to confiscate all registered guns who would do it. The police??

Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley (not to be confused with his daddy, Richard J. Daley) is the godfather of the Daley Crime Family. He is often referred to by his many nicknames and alter egos.

One of our local newspaper columnists calls Daley "Shortshanks" in reference to his short 5'-6" stature. In the same vein he is sometimes referred to as "42 extra short".

Another term of endearment here on the blog is "the stuttering prick". This one is in reference to the way he gets all flustered and stutters whenever he is questioned by the media about almost anything. Thou shall not question the king! When he gets mad, his face will turn red, he'll ridicule the questioner and stomp out of the room.

Sometimes he's the guy from the 5th floor referring to where his office is in City Hall.

Chicago's Police Superintendent is Jody Weis. He was brought in a couple of years ago from the FBI. His moniker was J-Fed from the beginning but changed to J-Fled a couple of months ago when he was accused of fleeing from an outdoor press conference when gunshots were clearly heard in the background and he told the reporter, "I gotta run"! Those gunshots killed a man a few blocks away and our "leader" never bothered to show up at the scene. Having NEVER been a police officer, he has no idea what we do. He is nothing more than a puppet for the mayor and has ruined and demoralized this department more than most people will ever know.

Stop in and visit anytime Frank.

Perhaps you are correct, but I am unable to find anything in ILCS that exempts any politician from UUW statutes. I am pretty sure that any City Ordinance that defines them as Peace Officers would be flawed. I know that this business of Aldermen being exempt from firearm carrying provisions has been around as a belief for a long time, but I have never seen any documentation that it is correct.
