Mayor Daley said Tuesday it was his notorious impatience — not a desire to denigrate the FBI — that prompted him to complain the federal government was not doing enough to combat gang violence.
“I said, ‘Finally, they did it’ because, for a year-and-a-half or two years … they’d come in and talk to me about their investigation. I want it completed right away. I’m like that. You know that. I want it done,” Daley said.
Asked if he planned to apologize to the feds, the mayor said, “It wasn’t derogatory to them.”
When you insult your FBI handlers like that, it's only natural that they should slap back at you. And seeing as how the FBI probably has Shortshanks on any number of wiretaps for whatever reasons, well...
As for Daley's "notorious impatience," we've been feeling that way for years about his going to jail ourselves - we'd just like it done.

OT (kind of) Was listening to the Jim laski radio show yesterday afternoon on wgn 720. He interviewed 32nd ward ald. Scott Waduespack. He is thinking of running for mayor and actually speaking out against shortshanks!!!This guy is totally pro police. He said that we (the police) are getting hit from both ends by Daley and his clan. Agrees that the ranks are down and we need to hire more police. Also stated that we are being hit in our pension fund by the mayors nephew. Said he raided our pension. Alderman Scott Waguespack
Alderman Scott Waguespack lives in Bucktown and his family has called Wicker Park-Bucktown their home for many generations. He helped organize and coach underprivileged kids in Little League baseball at Churchill Park and basketball at Wicker Park, giving them an alternative to joining a gang. He is also an active parishioner at St. Hedwig's Church.

Previously to becoming Alderman, Scott worked as the city administrator and chief of staff to Berwyn’s new mayor, Michael O’ Connor. As Berwyn's city administrator, Scott helped the administration introduce fiscal responsibility, saving the city millions of dollars; increased the value and quality of first responders by finding ways to fund new projects and by providing Police and Fire with the tools to aid Berwyn's citizens; and improved the city administration so that it is more efficient and more responsive to the needs of its residents.

As a regular contributor to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation I have to question why Phil Cline, as of 2008, was paid over $80,000 as the executive director of the Foundation. Who needs to be murdered next for the Cook County state's attorney's office to start prosecuting repeat offenders on felony charges and not continually allow them to plead to misdemeanor charges and be given legal "slaps on the wrists"?
And when will Mayor Daley step in and use his influence to demand stricter sentencing for these repeat offenders and stop allowing them a free pass to sling their drugs, rob, assault and murder innocent citizens and police officers? Does someone close to the mayor have to be murdered, robbed or assaulted for him to act? Or are Daley and the people around him too insulated that they're immune for such things to happen?
I constantly hear stories from my friends that are probation officers and Chicago Police officers about how these repeat offenders are allowed out on the streets again and again to continue to hold the people of Chicago hostage until they commit another crime.
Mayor Daley needs to wake up and be moved to action before the 2011 Chicago mayoral election. Otherwise, I can foresee Chicagoans being motivated for a change in their city's leadership.

PHOENIX (AP) -- A judge has blocked the most controversial sections of Arizona's new immigration law from taking effect Thursday, handing a major legal victory to opponents of the crackdown.
The law will still take effect Thursday, but without many of the provisions that angered opponents -- including sections that required officers to check a person's immigration status while enforcing other laws. The judge also put on hold a part of the law that required immigrants to carry their papers at all times, and made it illegal for undocumented workers to solicit employment in public places.
U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton put those controversial sections on hold until the courts resolve the issues.
Opponents say the law will lead to racial profiling and is trumped by federal immigration law.

I saw a panel discussion somewhere (Ch 11 ?) about the possibilities in the mayoral race and it was stated that IF Daley could be beaten, it would, most likely, have to be by an "outsider" and not be by anyone currently in the city council. The reasoning was simple and sensible:
Anyone running AGAINST Daley would have to be an ANTI-Daley candidate and how in the hell could ANYONE in the Council claim to be ANTI-Daley when they are supporting 90% to 95% of everything that Daley shoves down their throats?
I can't even name most of the Aldermen, so on name recognition alone, they lose. Then, Daley has appointed OVER HALF of the current Aldermen due to deaths, retirements, incarcerations etc. None of those people would dare run against him. There is a VERY small group who MIGHT stand a chance, but Daley's got the built in response to their candidacy that they voted for almost EVERY issue he proposed!
Anyway, just tossing that out there.

He was totally pro police when he worked for the mayor in Berwyn. The police chief in Berwyn gave him good grades. That chief is Bill Kushner, retired CPD.
Pro police doesn't mean the rights violating police, it is the work hard, do your job right police, the old days are gone and not coming back. Still he stood up for the police there when one Berwyn PO got involved in a shooting, he also marched with us in April, 2009 when we marched on City Hall when the IOC came to town. No publicity, no interviews, he was just there walking around the building with us for an hour or so.
Maybe Robert Grant needs to find a campaign spigot of money, and run for Mayor! I don't think he'd have any problems getting signatures and votes, legitzky. I mean, let's face it, if it takes a Fed to clean up CPD which wasn't really the problem; then it really takes a Fed to exorcise City Hall.

We don't need any blogs out there that print the crap he does representing the CPD; we've already suffered far too much damage to our professionalism and credibility as a Dept. I'll continue to read what you have to say HERE, but I'll pass on any Shaved Blog references. You just can't compare that blog to this one, and you don't have to be a boss or have a degree to see that SLC is demeaning to all of us who strive to be law enforcement PROFESSIONALS.

OT (kind of) Was listening to the Jim laski radio show yesterday afternoon on wgn 720. He interviewed 32nd ward ald. Scott Waduespack. He is thinking of running for mayor and actually speaking out against shortshanks!!!This guy is totally pro police. He said that we (the police) are getting hit from both ends by Daley and his clan. Agrees that the ranks are down and we need to hire more police. Also stated that we are being hit in our pension fund by the mayors nephew. Said he raided our pension. We need to get this guy on the ballot. Needs 50,000 signatures, which is crazy in itself.Get the word out on this guy!!!!!

As a regular contributor to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation I have to question why Phil Cline, as of 2008, was paid over $80,000 as the executive director of the Foundation. He is collecting his CPD pension which is considerable. I can see his expenses being covered and maybe a token tribute for his time but 80 grand? Come on Phil... how much do you need?

That is one reason why I no longer contribute to that organization. Good on the face but I don't trust former Supt.'s with money. Call me paranoid. Phil apparently is worried he might miss a steak dinner sometime in his life and die hungry.
The FBI should investigate those who submit false affidavits in "jackpot justice" lawsuits. They should recommend that charges be brought against those who make false claims and their attorney's.
Then the Office of United State's Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois should obtain indictments and prosecute these scumbags.
This would help restore the morale of detectives working in Chicago and they would have confidence in obtaining confessions from offenders.

His job is to wine and dine the rich corporate execs and movie stars and use his charming personality to coax them into big money donations. Which we can all be fine with because we know he can charm the pants off anyone.
The problem is he does submit the dinner and travel receipts for reimbursement, plus collects the 80g salary.
Yea we all know phil's 80g salary comes from the donations of the rich and not from the policemen. But that doesn't make it better. If Phil's ingenious cpd memorial foundation was so true to heart as he and his buttkissers say, then Phil would not accept a salary and allow that extra 80g to go into the fund.
The man is a millionaire and collects multiple salaries right now. He's always been a cheapskate and got away with it. Charming=phil is for phil.
