- A Chicago Police lieutenant will appear before the Internal Affairs Division Friday, after writing a blog that slammed Supt. Jody Weis and the policies of the department.
Lt. John Andrews is being called before the disciplinary body for the commentary on his blog, “The Adventures of a Highway Road Runner.” He titled it “A City at War with Itself: Chicago — Fast Tracking to Anarchy (Understanding the Organizational Paralysis of the CPD and the Mission to Recovery).”
The posting sharply criticizes police Supt. Jody Weis, calls the city’s “power elite” and some elements within the Police Department “corrupt,” and says police officers have been weakened to the point where criminals no longer fear them.
We assume he wasn't removed from his position and didn't relinquish his star, shield and ID. 011 District readers, any info?

OT: People keep asking where is the morale survey? Well, someone neds to take the bull by the horn (FOP?) and file a Freedom of Information Act request. The new FOIA law requires a response witin a certain time period - 90 days I think. If they fail to respond or comply a complaint can then be filed with the Ill Attny General.
This is like shooting the messenger and not addressing the problem. It they spent as much time trying to get equipment fixed and running maybe that would be time better spent.
They can and will stick it in his moon. Too bad. They are doing more to unite opinion against them than at any time since the Cozzi fiasco.

Speaking of supporting our fellow officers, I heard from Bill Cozzi. He is extremely depressed and sounds really bad. He has not seen family or anyone in a year. It was just about this time last year that he went to prison.
Could everyone please take a few minutes out of their day and send him a card or letter? I know it would lift his spirits.

Why am I getting the feeling that this guy is going to be promoted because of this and that this may have been orchestrated. He has become a folk hero to some officers but not to the ones that know him. The ones that do know better. If he is elevated to an exempt rank all will get to see what a true jagoff he really is.
The new FOIA requires an answer in 5 days however the agency served can filoe for and get a thirty day extension.
Takes away a cop's freedom of speech rights, doesn't it?
Is being a Lt. of police on the North Side really all that bad???

There are many thousands of sworn and civilians who are doing their best to stick it in Weis' moon daily. 24/7 three shifts a day, no letup, no retreat, never.
Weis reports he would do the same thing to Cozzi? Well he will feel the repercussions of that decision till the day comes when he is fired and beyond.
And Weis will be served with federal subpoenas for years to come and be required to return for depositions and court dates. Weis will greeted by that sign "Welcome to Chicago" outside of O'Hare for years to come.
Do not waste an opportunity to fuck with j-fled, if is doesn't jeopardize public safety or put an officer in harm's way.
Let him see how it feels to get a good old fashioned CPD butt fucking.
He won't be the first boss run out of here mumbling incoherently and wondering how it all went so wrong.

John Andrews should be the next Superintendent. Citizens you want control and safety? Mayor you want to CYA and win back the glory you so desire and need from the citizens of the city, the answer and solution seems completely clear.
Excellent. It's going to be a long road, but at the end of that road Lt. Andrews should be able to retire in luxury.

Not a cop, but I truly respect and admire what you do every day. Private companies send out memos all the time instructing employees how to "handle" social media sites. This is a gray area not challenged in the courts yet, really, so companies will try to write policy and eventually it will become the status quo. I believe, and I'm no Constitutional scholar, that whatever you do on your own time (not on the clock), with your own equipment (phones, computers, etc) is First Amendment territory. Your employer does not own you for 24 hours. As long as what you post is true and not slander they can't touch you. Of course, they can try and intimidate common people who don't have the resources of a large corporation, or a city, for that matter, but the Lt.'s First Amendment rights will out. Just hang tough.

Never worked for the guy, but sounds like this poor LT is a real policeman's Policeman, and one of few competent and qualified bosses.
Unlike Jim Mauer who writes what appears to be a noble letter. But why now Jim? You were part of the same pool of elite political hacks. Why didn't you come forward then? That's cause you were enjoying the spoils of all the political bosses on the job have to enjoy. We all remember you bragging and celebrating what you thought was going to be a promotion. Then when you didn't get the Superintendent spot or 1st Deputy Spot, you retired. But as luck would have it, as does for all clout bosses on this job, they pick up other nice paying city jobs when they retire. You were given the Airport Police which you ruined for yourself. One thing you don't mention in your letter is how bad Morale was when you were there Jimmy boy. Cline wasn't the greatest, but the reality is that Moral began to drop when Hillard left. The only (ONLY!) thing different from when Jim Mauer was chief was the number of man power that existed, as the numbers were declining and continue to decline to this day. The BEST Thing, J-Fed ever did when he arrived as Superintendent was clean house of just a few exempt/clout monsters, including Jim's friends. We still need to get rid of plenty more, and have a long way to go. So, don't go patting yourself on the back Jim; more importantly don't go calling the kettle black. The best way to put it as far as the difference from when Jim Mauer were around as an exempt and now? "SAME SHIT, DIFFERENT FLIES"!!!! The Political garbage continues.

This is how it went down:
Brett Godstein and all his minions in the Predictive Crime Super Troop were clustered around their computers when the red lights atop the monitors began flashing. He immediately called Masters and Weis, who somehow are so close they actually now share the same phone - with a city hall prefix.
"Sir, I and my computer/people have been able to mathmatically predict, using million dollar software algorithms, that if we watch all the POD cameras simultaneously from the CPIC, we'll be able to witness a crime - LIVE!"
The Jody Masters/Michael Weis demanded such course of action, then immedialy recalled Bartuch and Herlehy from the training regimine that had them repelling their car off an in-flight Spectre gunship while simultaneously firig carbines in the strong hand and duty weapons in the support hand.
The Wonder Twins changed clothes from tactical black BDU's to tactical green BDU's, then sped in the WTAcar for HQ. Sure enough, after just a few hours of scanning some 200 cameras located in neighborhoods where crime continues to happen as a routine matter, BAM! The Predictive Crime Super Troop was vindicated when a crime actually DID occur! The Wonder Twins low-crawled to a phone and called in the dastardly crime.
A lowly beat cop, the most dispicable and retarded creature alive and barely worth mentioning, was sent to the actual crime scene where, by some quirk or miracle, he was able to locate the offender based upon a brief description and make the arrest. Misdemeanor charges were approved.
At last hour, it was reliably relayed that all members of the PCST and the Wonder Twins were given red satin capes and nominated for the new "Superintendents Award of SuperMerit." Aunt Bea, true to form, rubber stamped the Jody Masters/Michael Weis request for the award. It was awarded two hours ago on the roof of the new Trump tower.
Congratulatins to all - except the beat cop. You suck. Now clear that lunch and hump some calls you dog!

Agreed. It is beginning to look like this is all part of some conspiracy to drive out Jody and Daley can say he had no choice. Andrews will be exempt which is all he has ever wanted and evryone who put him on a pedestal will get to see the real John.
In spite of this bad feeling I signed the petition because he has the right to publish his blog just as the racist disgusting SLC does.

Lt. Andrews was correct about many things... and perhaps a little niave about others. Corruption and political favors have been part of this department forever. It's the Chicago way! Carother's promotion(s) were not unusual! 2,3 and 4 levelled merit political promotions were the norm way before J-Fed ever showed up. The blame is on Daley and his democratic machine cronies for catering to the shitheads in this city and handing them police officer's heads on silver platters! The criminals aren't afraid of the police cuz they know we're not going to bust a nut to lock them up and take a chance of getting fired or sued or God forbid, going to jail! Throw the damn states attorney's office into the mix. They're ready and willing to FRY a cop when he or she's the accused. with Daley's blessing. Settling cases out of court for big bucks, allowing alderman, pastors, and the liberal media to dictate how the police are gonna do the job, meritorious promotions, a thin blue line on the street. All these things combined have crippled the CPD, and it's been happening for a long, long time. Just look at our sanctuary city status (tell the truth, how many of you out there even knew Chicago was a sanctuary city? Or knew what the hell it meant? Do you recall voting on it?)
It's all about the vote. Its always been about the damn vote.
I'm no fan of Jody, but the problems with this department were in place and knawing away long before he became superintendent. Of COURSE he's in Daley's pocket! That's basic Chicago politics!

I had the pleasure of talking to Lt. Andrews shortly after his IAD meeting. Very upbaet afterwards. He truly is a very down to earth person. Not at all as I have heard him protrayed. Would work for him anytime.
For those who knock Jimmy Jackson, all I will say he is for the guys on the street. He is one of the few top exempts to shake coppers hands and talk to them anytime he has contact. Maybe you look doen at him but I would go in a door anytime with him. For the record I do not know him personally, But he is a boos that hasn't forgotten where he came from.
What bugs me is that many bosses are raked over the coals for this and that. Many of these bosses I have heard they are tyrants, but once I worked for them, I found they were great bosses as long as you weren't a dog and did your job. I never wanted rank on this department, But I would agree just do your job out there. Take your calls, answer them and don't screw off for an hour on a 15 minute call. I understand we are busy, But the few who are always answering up for all the jobs don't deserve you dogging it constantly. We are all overworked, but remember we are all overloaded. Everybody should jusdt take their calls and come up for the next one right away. It's just fair to everyone else. We don't do it for the bosses, but for our fellow officers. It's not fair that some bust their asses everyday and the same few dog it the whole watch. Just saying, we are short. Time to stick together and not let just some do all the work.

Only in Chicago can a person be denied their Constitutional Rights by the upper echelon.

A) Did the Lt just ask for 72 hours to come back with an attorney and get it? B) there is case law on this which says that the 1st amendment does not protect a cop's job in every case. It depends on what was said, the forum, and whether it was said from the perspective of an average (!) Citizen or a police officer. So let's not think that there is a slam dunk defense here for the Lt.
Klimas, J-Fled's fed buddy, is hte complainant. I'm guessing that they are trying to bend over backwards to make this all go away, and and avoind being sued by Lt Andrews violation of his First Amendment rights. Liek cockroaches, the Former Feds are running now that the harsh light of truth is shone upon them.

Not Perfect by any means and no one inclucing him would say he was.
But he was the police and ran patrol as the police.
Not like this Dickhead who thinks he is perfect. Weis will not resign, because to do so would be to admit he was wrong and the FBI is never wrong. Even if they have to bury their mistakes.
Weis has buried too many of his mistakes already and we have gone to their funerals.
Jimmy Mauer should run for Mayor just to get rid os Shorty.
