Big Surprise - Not
A message has been sent already. You think the messengers aren't holding this one in reserve?
The one-year deadline has passed for congressional ethics investigators to announce whether a probe into U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson will resume, and so far, the committee refuses to shed any light on the situation.
The Chicago Sun-Times first reported last year that congressional ethics investigators began an inquiry into Jackson regarding his entanglement with former Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
With Blago's retrial looming and Jackson politically wounded, well, you can figure it out.
And Axlerod is headed back to town? The news just keeps getting worse and worse for Chicago.

Show of hands, please:
How many of us think that maybe Rahm had just a little bit of something to do with Jesse Jr.'s bimbo eruption?
As much as I dislike Daley and believe he should be in jail, Chicago will be worse off should Emmanuel get in. Between Emmanual. Axlerod, and Obama we are really screwed!
How does Weis continue to keep his job? Just from 9pm to 5am there were 1 killed and 11 wounded last night. That's just the night. That's not counting the other shooting during the day yesterday.
http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2010/09/at-least-9-injured-in-overnight-shootings.html
I know everyone in my district is afraid to do anything b/c if you make one mistake Jody Weis will hang you out to dry. So the result is a huge slow down. People aren't doing tons of street/vehicle stops and stopping a lot of these shootings b4 they happen. It's self preservation mode now and unitl we get somebody that has been the police and knows what we face out there on the streets this is going to continue.
Did anyone but me hear JJJ's very well spoken opponent on the radio this morning? Member of the Apostolic Church of God running as a republican?
Interesting.
CORRUPT POLITICS CHICAGO-STYLE, NOW RUNNING WASHINGTON D.C. AND U.S.
With the next mayor watch for massive changes in the CPD. Expect police officers to be required to work as, of all things, police officers. Very few desk jobs, CAPS gone. Inside people, much fewer.
Pension changes coming. FOP must be on their toes these next few years lest we all be bulldozed.
Mayor Daley want to save money in CPD budget , have a superintendent and approx 10 exempts
assign captains to run districts operations
,lieutenants to run all watches and units
sergeants in charge of field operations
hire civilians for all clerical duties and force police officers back to basic patrol duty
get back to basics to many chiefs not enough indians
do this and you won't have to promote or hire any police for a few years , you'll need more civilians but at half the cost
how about civilians to process crime scenes , taking photos and collecting evidence doesn't require a sworn police officer
The 'Dem Heavies' are in for a nasty surprise. IF they get in (people are really pissed this election cycle)they will be gone in less than one term because their ideas and policies have left this city is on the edge of bankruptcy; and they can't blame Bush.
Whoever the next Mayor is there are going to have to be some pretty severe cuts to nonessential services and the peasants will no longer put up with cuts to public safety and basic maintenance.
Among locally elected officials, "ethics" is a dirty word.

It is absolutely evident that when Emmanuel mentioned to a reporter several months ago that he had aspirations to someday be mayor, he new that Da Mayor was being forced out.
Now Emmanuel's camp is scaring everyone out of the race. First Daley, second Jackson, will "Shart" finish the trilogy and become #3 ??? Watch for Shart to announce that he will stay put at the Sheriffs office in the next week or two ending his mayoral aspirations.
The big question is what do they have on Daley?
And if Emmanuel wins, watch for Masters to go right back to the Hall to be Chief of Staff there.

The story line is that Axelrod is coming back here "to work for Obama's re-election."
Do we look stupid?
we r so fucked. could they at least spit on our ass 1st before they ram it in?
OT: Obama's brains are leaving in droves. His creators Emanuel, Axelrod, Larry Summers, etc . All the rats jumping off the sinking ship. He will be even more doomed without his evil cabal.

Daley Inc. is restructuring, consolidating and fine tuning. They are NOT going to relinquish Chicago without a fight. Too many connected people are just too fucking dirty to let Chicago fall to somebody nobody sent.
The budget mess will be fixed on the backs of municipal employees.
Municipal employee labor unions will openly be declared as solely responsible for the budget crisis and destroyed with nodding consent from the public.
People are still jealous and shit-talking about "sweet" Police pensions supposedly being the root of all fiscal evil. Watch for them to take a real hard run at our pensions on the pretext of fiscal restraint after years of intentional and chronic underfunding.
Forget about CPD getting it's mojo back and re-taking the streets. Mayhem, bloodshed and crime is part of the equation now to help distract the citizens and therefore keep them under control.
Policemen are considered dangerous. Too aware as to what's really going on and still thought of as a threat which is part of why our numbers have been so drastically reduced and we've been so villified in the media so as to drive a wedge between the guardians and those who need guarding.
Hmmmm... Maybe they actually do fear an uprising when the Police finally have enough and decide to shove back after being pushed for so long?
Daley Inc. and the 1600 Pennsylvania franchise are conceding major Republican gains during the mid-term elections. That's why Emmanuel is running for mayor. To fortify Chicago as the yellow-pinky, change you can believe in, holy city.

keep your knifes ready...a lot of sharks swimming into the city via O'Hare from the infested waters of D.C.. just what we needed, more sharks running for politics!!!!!!!
With the next mayor watch for massive changes in the CPD. Expect police officers to be required to work as, of all things, police officers. Very few desk jobs, CAPS gone. Inside people, much fewer\----------------------
As well it should be. We have far, far too many people working meaningless inside jobs. Radio room people. Desk people, CAPS people. Neighborhood relations and senior citizen officers, crossing guard supervisors. All making $70-80 K a year. Fuck these people.
I knew about Eman and Axel, but Summers is leaving too?
Good! That guy is a Greenspan dropping.
You think we are treated bad now, just wait. Rahm will screw us even more than Daley. If Meeks becomes a serious candidate, I hope everybody remembers how he made that BS beef on the sergeant in 005 during the traffic stop a few years back. Fioretti has made his living suing coppers, and Dart does not like the CPD. Bad times ahead for us no matter who replaces Daley.
OFF TOPIC
East Chicago mayor found guilty of corruption
My heart skipped a beat when I read/misread that headline
As if no one can figure this out, Axlerod will likely be working on getting Rahm elected Mayor. This has been in the works since Rahm just sort of offhandedly, almost absent mindedly fantasized to a reporter that he might like to be mayor someday, if daley should choose to leave office in, let's say, oh, a few months.
And voila! Lo and behold, what a coincidence, a confluence of events have unfolded, the sun, the moon, the earth and the stars have suddenly become in perfect alignment and Rahm is all set to be crowned, er, ummm, elected 'da new mayor for life here.
And if you disliked daley, you are really going to despise Rahm Emmanual. We will have to come up with new pejoratives to describe Rahm because all the usual extreme negative descriptors have been used up; ie, Antichrist, Beelzebub, evil one, bastard, cock sucker, thief, crook, no goodnik, despicable person, bum, jerk etc.
Bad times ahead for us no matter who replaces Daley. 9/24/2010 09:04:00 PM
Good times are ahead, if "we" start recruiting pro-police candidates now!
As well it should be. We have far, far too many people working meaningless inside jobs. Radio room people. Desk people, CAPS people. Neighborhood relations and senior citizen officers, crossing guard supervisors. All making $70-80 K a year
*********
Well, radio room is not a meaningless job, I would rather have a copper /ret copper on the radio....We talk the same language.
Could be more bimbo eruptions to come. Rahm should be careful.
If we were smart...and we are not, we wouldnt care who gets in because they should be more worried about us than we are about them.
We are not bonded with the Firefighters, water, streets & san tc.. We act like a bunch of hotshots that want to outdo each other.
If we all bonded together as one brotherhood/sisterhood, the mayor let alone the new mayor would be crapping their pants/panties.
But nooooooo...we bitch and moan and do nothing about it. I for one havent changed from day one on this job and I never will. I will not sell my soul or anyone elses to get noticed by some over city college educated ego maniac asshat of a boss. They may be the vehicle....however we are the engine. We can run without the vehicle....but the vehicle will always need the engine.
Someday I hope we are smart enought to figure this out and all city workers could unite for the better of everybody. OK...I know....I am thinking way outside the box.

I get so tired of these posts. Desk, radio and all the "inside" people you hate so much are still Police Officers. When they are needed "outside", at least they are available. When they are "civilian" they are useless for anything but the one hour they pass out radios.
I never got the animosity a few coppers have for the inside guys. I never wanted to be inside, so I was always glad they did it for whatever reason.
The politicians are trying whittle us down as it is. They don't need any help and they will just throw away any savings. We, of course, will be the losers with diminished ranks and less safety on our end.
Say what you want, but you guys *do* have a pretty sweet pension. One that you contribute to, and one who's contribution from the City is considered part of your compensation. The only thing at issue here is why the government has been neglecting its duties of contributing, and how to secure the ballooning costs of keeping up such a structure. As usual, it comes down to their mismanagement.
As a non-cop taxpayer, I don't see anything wrong with your "sweet" pension. I think it's contractually obligated, and a deal's a deal. It could probably use some restructuring, but in no way should people who have worked and put into the system get the shaft after the agreement's made. That's like the bank calling you up today and saying, "no wait, you have a 30 year fixed but we're just going to forget all the equity you've put in for the last 24 years." Bullshit.
Any Democrat machine politician will continue our downward spiral.
You should read up on the Battle of Athens in 1946. We need that here, today.
Are you kidding me? There is such a thing as congressional ethics investigators? HA HA. It seems more of a phrase or concept. Gee I don't know, given the history of congress it does not seem that the ethics investigators do a very good job.
You know... for one, I agree with J-Fled, about the gold brick and the fkcn whiners..... been screaming bout DALEY must go, and how bad he is, then now that its bout to happen , some hitch that we are worse off now... bunch of fckn pessimist... why not do something about it and VOTE ... THEIR IS NOOOO REASON THAT EVERY OFFICER CANNOT REGISTER TO VOTE, AND IN THE PROCESS GET AT LEAST 10 FAMILY MEMBERS OR FRIENDS OR "SOCIAL ACQUAINTANCES" TO REGISTER AND VOTEEEE .. NO REASON THAT CPD CAN'T ACCOUNT FOR 100,000. VOTES... AND YOU KNOW WHAT COMES WITH CONTROLLING 100,000 VOTES .. A LITTLE FKCN RESPECT AND FEAR...
Nobody in the CPD, with less than 20 yrs. on, should be working ANY inside job. Isn't the job of a police officer to work the streets and surpress crime, and protect the taxpaying citizens? Then why are so many sitting around drinking coffee and playing on computers, and shuffling papers needlessly, day after day. I guess this is what happens when a true crime-fighting organization like CPD becomes the Political Police. Under 20 yrs. on, get out in the streets with your handcuffs, and catch some fuckin criminals, like you were hired to do. Wear a uniform, and do your job. You will be old and have 20 or more years soon enough. Till then, earn your paycheck.

Dear Sir,
Although I do appreciate your support in this public forum, please do not take our pension issues and act as if we were soooo fortunate to have it.
Yes, as you say, a deal is a deal, but that "sweet" pension was paid for with OUR blood, OUR ability to become punching bags and not have the State's Attorney's Office approve felony charges against the piece of shit that was fighting us, OUR missing family events, OUR inability to be home on major holidays, all for the sake of protecting the good citizens of this city.
So please, do not act as if it is some great gift that we are so lucky to have. It was earned my friend.
Take the next test. More people bow out after learning what this job is about because what we see on a daily basis, sometimes cannot be put into words.
Signed,
20 year vet

What is so sweet about it? Most other places including the State Police have better ones.
Plus, all the "news" about pension reform - such as not allowing people to pad their pensions by working overtime, we are already barred from doing that. NONE of our over time, or out of grade pay is pensionable. Even some of our normal compensation is not pensionable, so we aren't getting a pension based upon anything but our base pay which is quite a bit LESS than what any of us actually gets paid, so, it isn't really sweet, we pay into it - it isn't fully funded by the city, and the city is always on the lookout for ways to take $ out of the fund/not put their share into the fund.
Is it a good pension? Yes, I think any pension is good at this stage, but I don't think it is sweet.
As far as I know the government, City of Chicago, has made the required contributions.

24+ years on CPD, I work a beat car daily, by myself. I stop cars and people, write tickets, arrest assholes and all the rest.
I can't help if inside do nothings suck dick so they get to drink coffee and play on computers and answer phones.
If I had my way they would all be out on the streets.
My pension is about one of the only things left on this job that is earned, not given, at least it is for me.
I've earned it with my early years going around the clock on rotating shifts working 6 days in a row, years of missing holidays at home, years of going to court on my day off, injuries in accidents, IOD's battery on police, stress, asshole bosses etc.
I apologize to no one. If someone thinks it is sweet they are welcome to apply and come do what I have done to get that pension.
Go ahead, come on this job, do it. I dare you, I fucking dare you. Then go to work for 24+ years and tell me what your feelings are towards some outsider saying that the pension sure is sweet.
I bet by then you will think it isn't enough. It is amazing what being a policeman for almost a quarter century will do to alter your opinion of things.
Have an extra donut for me will you, I lay off the donuts.

So true, my friend. Young, Full duty officers hiding inside doing menial tasks as secretaries and answering a phone. Typing memos and bullshiting with their boss. Then doing personal business on company time. What a scam.
Rahm Emmanuel came to town, riding on a pony, told the JJ's "kiss my ass" you both are freakin phoney !!!!

All the demithiefs are conspiring for the job to make sure it's still "Shitcago as usual" !!!
Agreed with the 20 years plus on to work inside jobs. After that many years on the street, you become mentally and emotionally drained. From constantly changing hours, missing personal life committments, lack of sleep, and all the other stress we know of. Most importantly, many officers become physically beat up and deserve to take their knowledge to the inside tasks. Just like it used to be, and it worked great back then.
