Joe the Cop Dissects CTA Shooting
- On September 20 I wrote a blog post about the CTA Red Line shooting that occurred last weekend:

I wrote the post in reaction to a number of news items that appeared on September 19. In my opinion, the media coverage followed a pattern that I recognized from other police-involved shootings over the years, right down to specific phrases in the stories. I coined the phrase "ghetto shooting template" to describe that pattern. I was not attempting to be flippant, or deliberately provocative.
50+ comments later, it's safe to say that I have never seen such a reaction to anything I've written. This is not the first time I've talked about police-involved shootings, or about racial issues in law enforcement, but this time I definitely struck a raw, raw nerve.
"Joe" isn't CPD, but he's local law enforcement and he's been around the block it seems. Click over to his site and search around a bit of his writing. Some really good stuff there.

Joe's analysis is dead on. Truth hurts but thats the reality. Single family home, kid raised by the street cause momma was better raised, slinging dope and hanging on the corner more cool than being at school, arrest record- something to be proud of, produce some kids, get baby momma some gov checks and get paid by the city when u fight/get shot by the police. It's the ghetto way of life. Never-ending cycle of fucked up life values and bad choices, thats how i see it everyday life on the beat; although most of these people are perfectly fine with it. We get this all the time when the skewed up ghetto reality(morals, values, rules and made up laws) clash with reality most people live in where people obey laws, take responsibility for their actions and follow common sense. For most readers of this blog at this point i think i'm preaching to the choir pretty well. Good nite

It's just too bad that the average Joe doesn't know this. It's too much to expect the poverty pimps in the hood to admit this and it's a shame the media people can't/won't admit they actually already know this. Even the most red/lefty media type knows the truth of what joe says, they won't say it because the screaming from the ghetto would be deafening. If you point this out, the "leaders" of the community scream racism.
Maybe there should be an investigation into what lawyer provided scripts are handout to these families and witnesses. Another idea would be to bring the case to trial and have the city win it instead of settling it.
I think the media might find that putting up mugshots instead of the played out graduation photo might make for more interesting stories and sell more papers.
People know the deal. They're starting to see the media for the shit bag apologists and yellow journalists that they are. They will publish what they know to be bullshit just to sell a paper.

Basically, what the comments show is that the truth hurts, and as usual, someone cannot handle it.
I think the true test of the 'real' concern for the 'shootee' (only the media calls them a 'victim')by the family is often shown when they get a lawyer and file suit BEFORE they even bury the body.
As you well know,these bottom-feeder lawyers include paying for any funeral expenses as part of their fee.
They know it's a win-win situation for them as the city hands out checks like they hand out pool cars in the Area. Cha-ching!

Read the comments. Typical " strong black woman" bullshit responses and ghetto grape " juice" response. No matter how many facts you throw into the conversation the more riled up they become. They live in the make beleive world where they beleive that the White man is still oppressing them and keeping them down. Yet everyone gets the opportunity to go to school. Yet they rather be hanging on the corners with their friends. They will always hate the police no matter what good they do. We point to Election Night 2008 as our example and object lesson.
It was literally the night of the 200lb five year olds (grande mal victim complex, poor impulse control, misdirected anger, lack of respect for the property/persons of others and openly/boldly challenging lawful authority) being told they were free to do as they pleased because "one of ours" was elected POTUS.

Funny -- that's exactly the same speech I heard on a city bus the night Harold Washington was elected. Black guy gets on, stands at the front of the bus, and announces to everyone, "Po-leece gon' beat YOUR ass now."
Harold Washington did greet my (elderly, white) mother on a downtown street. No beating, though.
Get real.

We've seen the best of "translators" get knocked out of their square by the mere fact that they're in the presence of someone who is black (usually male) that didn't buy into the "school is for girls, gumps and goody two-shoes" mentality.
It's actually pretty damn funny to watch.
As we recall one well respected black Policeman saying when the "c'mon bro" card was played, "MY brothers obey the law..."

A "thug life" mentality is spreading farther than you might think. I work (as staff) for a large and expensive local University. Yesterday I saw a very white student wearing a "NO SNITCHING" T-shirt. Which only reinforced my long-held belief that a good percentage of our undergrads at least are overprotected children of privilege who will be lucky to survive their first dose of nasty reality if it ever finds them.

However, once the media was there they were running to get there faces on T.V. claiming to have seen everything Some of the BS was directed at the police for not getting to the call quick enough. The Fusion Center was literally calling us and telling us names of people to interview because they were on T.V. claiming to be witnesses. Once we tracked them down it was the same thing "no we did not see it, yet they had a mouthful when the cameras were on. The other joke was we had to tell the mother to get off the computer because she wanted to see herself on T.V. and the internet; the investigation is still open.

Joe the cop replies to a reader about a cop in Orlando who injured a senior citizen. I looked up the article and read a great quote from the Orlando Sentinel's columinist Mike Thomas. The quote is as follows

Funny, but you can no longer access the article regarding what hapened on the CTA. Censorship in this city is almost like China. The ghetto mentality, which not everyone possese's is a way of life today, but where are the opporrunities for young black men other than the corner? My answer is jail, but that is me.
Let us take back our city and with a minimum of unecessary death's, especially CPD. Hell, Afghanistan is safer than living in this motherfucker!

Just remember that the man most responsible for the election of Harold Washington over Jane Byrne was Richard M. Daley.
Jane Byrne loved the police.

At that time, a lot of Daley Worship was in full swing. Harold Washington loved the police too. While it's nice to acknowledge which former mayors loved the police, it's ancient history. In fact, 1983 has been over for 27 years!
Now it the time, to keep eyes on the prize and not allow another Daley clone to dictate over Chicago for the next 21 years! Remember, Daley II, not Washington, destroyed the city over the past 21 years!

There is a book by an author by the name of Larry Elder called, "Stupid Black Men; How to Play the Race Card, and Lose". As a Black man, I would recommend every Black man to read it.
Settling lawsuits is going to be a way of life because we really don't have any peers, in a court of law. Big cities are afraid that jury pools are tainted and antipolice. Springfield needs to limit the amount these dumb ass family members get. Also, the families should get the money over time like the lottery. Most of the dumb offenders wouldn't be worth much do to getting popped or incarcerated, anyway. Being the way that the police are treated by every entity here in Chicago it's amazing police really care about anyone outside of their family. 99.9% of all police officers wouldn't want to do anything to give some dumb ass' family a chance to get out of the ghetto, on our taxpayer money.
