- Unhappy with the Chicago crew that took over the department, the police union is planning a no confidence vote against the new chief.
Sgt. Louis Cavaliere, president of the city police union, said Wednesday that he expects a proposal to be introduced at a Sept. 15 union meeting asking for a vote of no confidence in Chief Frank Limon. The union would then schedule a ballot vote at a later date, where the union rank and file can make a public statement on whether they support the chief.
The rank and file is rankled by, among other decisions, management reviews of how much cleavage female officers reveal while in uniform and on how promptly senior officers must arrive to daily crime-statistics meetings, according to the union president.
Here's another article from another New Haven outlet reporting how Limon and his hand picked assistants from Chicago have systematically insulated themselves from any meaningful professional contact with their Department.
We suppose that means he's headed back here to take some new six-figure spot.

Hint. Any agency that hires any of our exempts, ask just one question. Did you ever score well enough on a promotional exam to be promoted off the list? That will save you a million head aches.

I attended the Honored Star Ceremony for Sgt. Al Haymaker the other day at HQ’s. One thing happened that offended the living shit out of me. I was able to deal with J’Fleds disingenuous remarks about Al. We all know he’s all BS so it’s just what's to be expected. What really frosted my ass was the way Chief Judge Timothy Evans was catered too. First off, the mutt shows up a full 15 minutes late for the ceremony. Then instead of just standing in the back with the rest of those who couldn't be seated our own African Princess Director of Human Resources Missy Ladner has the nerve to walk him down the aisle to the front of the assemblage like he was visiting royalty. Who the “F” do these people think they are? This is the same Tim Evans who when in the City Council was no friend of the Police although he was honored with some BS award at this year's Recognition Ceremony. What is Ms. Booty Ladner trying to pull? Word has it she’s angling for the DS of BAS spot when O’Keefe leaves next year. Her many and varied qualifications include: loosing the City of Chicago’s Shakman law suit before she was kicked out by Mara Georgas; she’s managed to turn the Personnel Division into a ghetto jobs program for the 1’s of the Department; she screwed the Detectives out of their ability for merit promotions, and so on and so on for this racist City Hall plant. It wouldn’t surprise me a bit if she did get the job the way racist/idiot 1’s are promoted well beyond their abilities in this department – see Trahanas, Brown et al.

Hey Sgt. Kirchner the race based merit Lieutenants promotional list has just been published, so where's your lawyers, Bob? Maybe you have learned from Mark Donohue the merits of sitting on your hands and selling your membership out by complacency.
In addition, if any jack-legged reverends had any modicum of input in the selection of candidates then the department and city violated the "seperation of church and state" doctrine.

There is plenty of rank and file that are very capable of running Polce Departments. They will not be given the opportunity, due to the fact of the affirmitive action employees on this jobs and in Cook County. You better be a minority if you plan to become a boss.

While I think Limon was nuts for leaving River Forest, it seems that New Haven coppers really don't have much to beef about. Sorry guys if you're expected to be professional. Maybe if hadn't created a screwed up dept. they wouldn't have felt compelled to bring in someone from the outside. After all, it wasn't like here, with the feds forcing Daley to hire one of their own.

Do you really think Weis is doing Blacks any favors here? Do you think we are NOT even more disgusted than you at the sight of Carothers, Brown and Ladner in positions of authority? Don't you think there's a reason that these three high profile jobs have gone to some of the worst examples of black leadership within the CPD?
BINGO! It's because they are all playing 'the political game,' and quite well, I would add. Any self-respecting black officer of high rank has either left this pathetic Dept. or will shortly. Some of our better examples, like Eric Washington, Skahill, Helm (and others), have been demoted and or shuffled about or forced to retire.
Believe me, the majority of blacks on this job are far more disgusted with this patronage poop going on than you will ever know.
Actually, the complaints aired in the article are pretty vague. The reporter even stated that Limon is popular with the citizens in New Haven. Jody should be so lucky here!

Vetting should be done by a disintrested civil jury for the one time process. It should incorporate the top 3 candidates and the hiring should include a probationary period.
term limits should become mandatatory for ALL city administrators from the mayor down.
and no confidence votes should become routine provided that a probable cause for the vote has been established prior to a call for the vote.

What is the logic behind having a protest at H.Q. instead of City Hall? I was at the demonstration we had at City Hall and felt that at least there was some coverage by the news media that brought our concerns with J-Fled to light. I believe that having the demonstration at City Hall made an important statement and was an important geographic and symbolic location that forced the news media coverage. We might as well hold the demonstration at Promontory Point in Hyde Park or an abandoned industrial site. All the coppers I've spoken with think that the F.O.P. leadership is screwing the pooch by picking H.Q. as the current location. An explanation as to the site choice would be appreciated.

The union isn't full of shit. Limon has taken care of a few people who are quick to attack the union president and who are trying to turn this into a reforendum on the union. This is quite easy to do in a recession in a city where almost every other municiple union took layoffs. The fact is there have been 40 grievances in a department of under 400 people since Limon has taken over as chief. The union has written over 20 letters to him with various concerns, questions, and suggestions. Limon responded to one grievance and no letters. That's a legitimate concern.
