Brutal Sat night. 7 shot in a bar in 003 with 1 dead. 4 shot in 008. A couple killed elsewhere and about 17 shot overnight? Het JFed, if the gang meeting reduced violence to nothing since your talk with the leaders why aren't you in the districts like 003, 008 and 007 where it's all wild west? Maybe because there are a lot of other factors to the violence than you think. A night like last night shows just how much impact MSF, TRU and GEU have - none. But rebuilding the districts' authorized stenght may have an impact. How about trying it? Maybe the old way really is the best way: cops on the beats where they are needed.

Regarding the tac team/U of C incident; it would take all of 42 seconds to get their info if they did not want to handle the arrest. Put them in box 1, notate they are arresting officers in the narrative, done. Still get credit for arrest and gun, and not looking at 30 pending.

Unfortunately, this cartoon could be seen as the modern-day replacement for John T. McCutcheon's famous drawing of the season, "Injun Summer," which the Chicago Tribune ran on the front page of its magazine from September 30, 1907 to October 25, 1992. For me, it more than anything else announced the arrival of fall.

Enojy it here --

http://www.tkinter.smig.net
/Chicago/InjunSummer/index
.htm

The Tribune claims that "The drawings may be timeless, but the text had outlived its day. Complaints had been voiced for several years about its offensiveness to Native Americans."
While the Tribune no longer runs this gentle, utterly harmless, mystical tribute to autumn and memorial to the area's Indian tribes of the past, it knows a good thing when it sees it, and will happily sell you a copy; unmounted $5.95, mounted $59.00.

Such is the "sperrit" of our times today...do you take VISA?

Unfortunately, horrible things can happen in the fall woods these days, in an America gone half-insane -- this has now become a story covered nationwide.

Man Could Face Death Penalty In Ill. Student Death

The Associated Press
Saturday, October 30, 2010; 9:57 PM

"DEKALB, Ill. -- An Illinois man may face the death penalty if convicted in the slaying of a college freshman who went missing earlier this month.

"William Curl is jailed on $5 million bail in the death of Northern Illinois University freshman Antinette "Toni" Keller. The 34-year-old Curl of DeKalb appeared in court Saturday via closed-circuit TV.

"He has been charged with first-degree murder, criminal sexual assault and arson.

"DeKalb County Judge James Donnelly told Curl about the death penalty possibility in court.

"The 18-year-old Keller was last seen Oct. 14. Two days later, burned human remains were found in a park near the university in DeKalb, 65 miles west of Chicago."

http://www.washingtonpost.com
/wp-dyn/content/article/2010
/10/30/AR2010103002494.html

Slain NIU student's family: Crime details 'not comforting'

"DEKALB -- The man accused of murdering 18-year-old Antinette “Toni” J. Keller of Plainfield was unemployed and lived in a public housing unit meant mainly for senior citizens and the disabled...DeKalb police have said Curl is believed to be jobless and had never been a student at or worked for NIU. He had lived in the public housing complex for about four years...A neighbor of Curl's in the 16-story public housing complex Golden Years Plaza, said he used to live on her floor before moving to his current eighth floor apartment."

"No one from Keller's family attended the first hearing Saturday morning for William “Billy” P. Curl, who faces nine charges for allegedly raping, burning and killing Keller: five counts of first-degree murder, and charges of arson, criminal sexual assault, unlawful possession of a converted motor vehicle and obstructing justice."

http://www.dailyherald.com
/article/20101030/news/
710319983/

Talk about early retirement -- it must be nice to move into the "Golden Years Plaza" at age 34 and to spend one's endless, idle days stalking victims in the parks for sport.

"The remains were so badly burned, officials said, that they had to be sent to an out-of-state forensic expert to confirm they were human."

Think about that for a minute.

Lethal injection is too good for some people. Thank God he was captured so quickly, before he could harm anyone else.

All I can do is to offer a prayer for the victim and her family and friends.

WRONG!!!!

This is almost 30 years experience saying this, most cops that do vote will vote Republican, certainly on the state and national tickets.

The problem is that MOST COPS DON'T VOTE AT ALL.

It was said in recent elections that only 25% of CPD voted, and I assume that also includes that all the people, family and so forth that they can influence. No wonder Shorty wants to keep the residency requirement and can push us around. He can take our tax dollars and not worry about a backlash at the polls because we don't bother.

Try to find an older CPD cop who ever voted for Shorty.

Stay safe. Have you voted yet, do you plan to vote November 2nd. If not you are playing right into Shorty's hands.

P.S. To SCC How can we get an estimate of how many cops will have voted this election?

I noticed fewer elaborate Halloween displays this year; it was really going during the real estate balloon, when it became Halloween instantly on the day after Labor Day, with a red-hot 45-day-long retail season fit to rival Christmas.

I was actively starting to resent Halloween, as it had become the desperate, forcible mercantile replacement for the entire season of Autumn, and for Thanksgiving -- but people have flipped their last condo, and have blown their home equity loan on big-screens and pairs of matching Hummers and all that plastic-tombstone junk by now.

It's kind of a relief. There was getting to be something juvenile, childish -- in the pejorative sense, as opposed to "childlike," "innocent" -- about the whole thing. Every single day can't be a holiday, no matter how badly Mr. and Mrs. Twentysomething "want the good stuff."

I hope the little kids have fun running around in the dark with flashlights (a "ray gun" that turns different colors and beeps is even better, in my personal experience with space weaponry), screaming and making weird noises, and I hope they get lots of good candy. Nothing beats the family getting together and making a homemade costume. That's really what it's supposed to be.

Over on the idiot side of things, everyone watch out for the DUIs and domestics and the parties gone suddenly, explosively bad when someone starts throwing up s__t and someone else runs to their car for a gun(sigh)...

God bless all on this beautiful afternoon. Be safe tonight.

My 5-year old took his own informal poll as he handed out candy and asked the kids where they went to school. There was not one from Christ the King, Barnabas, Sutherland or Kellog! They would mention the school name and then announce, "it's
"Engwood" or "Rozelan". Why can't these kids trick or treat in their own neighborhoods? Don't the residents of these areas purchase candy for the little darlings?

If some black folks realize that Halloween means someone will get shot/killed in their neighborhood, then they had better move out of that neighborhood, and live among civilized people who know how to conduct themselves.

Certain elements of certain races prefer to live in chaos...they like the excitement....and then they're rewarded with entitlements by the democrats/socialists, in return for their vote. If you happen to disagree with the climate/mentality of your neighborhood, move out. But, if all you can say is, "woe is me...folks gonna get killed on Halloween", then, a-hole, you are living where you belong...you'll get no sympathy from me.

It isn't enough to NOT vote for a particular office. You have to actually vote for the 'other' guy.

And, as for finding out how many of us voted, sorry Charlie. It's one of the few rights to privacy we still hold in this country. Who we vote for and IF we vote is none of your business. (Of course, if we don't vote, we absolutley forfeit our right to bitch, moan and complain about those elected to office.)

What choice do they have? Mt Greenwood park gets an estimated 400-500 kids throwing eggs and shaving cream every year in the park. In the past, they were driven out of the park, and tore up private property in the neighborhood.
Also, the vast majority of the little darlings are firemen and policemen's kids. The stacks of beefs against the PO's was brutal when efforts were made to drive them out of the park.
Lastly, remember about 4 years ago, the guy who tried to confront 4 kids at 111 and Central Park over throwing eggs (not at his car, he just felt like giving a civics lesson)? I wonder how he felt the next morning with his cracked skull.
To stop them , it would take a plan the size of the South Side Parade, and we know how well that turned out every year.

"What choice do they have? Mt Greenwood park gets an estimated 400-500 kids throwing eggs and shaving cream every year in the park."

I saw how one grocery store in Jeff Park handled this. On Halloween eve, six hulking teens approaching the checkout with double armloads of egg cartons were told "No. Put those back. We won't sell them to you tonight. Come back tomorrow if you still want them."

It worked fine. I mean, even the worst s__tass parents aren't going to get excited enough to try hiring a lawyer. "The store reserves the right to limit quantities." "The store reserves the right to refuse service to anyone." Says so right here in the sale flyer.

And get those skateboards out of the store too.

Amazing what happens when people say "no."

Get out the hoses and start cleaning up the mess in the park while they're throwing. Been told not to. No one's fault if they stay there and get wet, we got a job to do. Go cry to da boss over dere.

No one likes "wet and cold."

"worked". Try it sometime. Never had a boss bother me. Never.

Go back to sucking his ass.
