More Mayoral Dropouts

  • Congressman Luis Gutierrez and Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan both ruled themselves out as possible candidates for mayor next year.

Gutierrez, who said several weeks ago he was circulating petitions, announced his non-candidacy Thursday afternoon at the Latino student center at U.I.C.

The 56-year-old congressman, recognized as the national leader in the movement for the reform of federal immigration laws, says he would not abandon what he called his vocation to begin a campaign for mayor.

"We're not going to win simply because of Chicago. We have to have a moment that stretches across this nation...and I'm committed to making that movement a movement that will bring about comprehensive immigration reform," said rep. Luis Gutierrez (D).

Hours earlier, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan emphatically denied she was considering running for mayor.

Yeah, Gutierrez supporting cop killers, illegal aliens and blanket amnesty in sanctuary Chicago wasn't going to play to a wider audience. Madigan, like it or not, carries her father's baggage, and Rahm has campaigned in deeper sewers than that. So we're on Meeks-watch, Fioretti-watch and Chico-watch? Anyone else?

Carol Marin and Sneed were WRONG? How can this be?
Two unimpeachable pillars of Chicago 'Journalism' misinformed the public!

With over 10% unemployment, why do these people have jobs?

That luis gutierrez is a joke. First He was a part of a puerto rican terrorist groups called the "macheteros". They want puerto rico to be like castro's cuban paradise. Then with his pal clinton some of his terrorist buddies are released. He along with a bunch of "educated" puerto ricans who do not live in puerto rico protest that the u.s. leave vieques island. It was used by american soldiers for much needed live fire war games. This bankrupted puerto rico as the u.s. Government paid for use of the island. And this ass hat wants to be mayor? Puerto rico is in economic ruin and he has not offered to help what he caused. He saw the american government and our soldiers as the enemy, and he wants to be an american city mayor? He would scream "fuera la marina de vieques" wich means marines get out of vieques on telemundo, and he wants to be a mayor? Its a shame that he's even a senator. He hates soldiers and police. But you know how it is, all this will be ignored and anyone who brings it up is a racist.

Word is, Mr Bigfoot Rahmbo and the Obaminator have signaled to the pipsqueaks to stay out of his way in the race for "his" dream job.

Other candidates will be crushed and the voters be damned. No one will stand in his way! By the time the actual election rolls around, our choices will be no choice at all. Once again, we'll be saddled with a candidate who is not the "best" one but the lesser of the evils who are still running.

Is it at all possible for a candidate that has Honesty, Integrity, and no affiliation with the bottom feeders of Shitcago/Crook County to surface in this election ???

Voting for the lesser of two Evils is no longer an option.

It's time to drain the cesspool an be rid of all the scum that inhabit it.

It is going to take a lot of cash to give the mayor's race a good run, a lot of cash. If you cannot raise the money and no one is lining up behind you, and you are not a multi-millionare, then your chances are slim, at best. And, I would believe that there is a lot of racial and ethnic pressure to have only one candidate from each racial and ethnic group.

Chico seems to be on the rail and in the lead, with no signs of exhaustion or falling back, as they come around the far turn.

Why? He seems to be the triple threat. He's home grown and Hispanic, at least enough to claim so, knows how to walk amongst the old gaurd and, from his days at the school board, knows how to win over the reformers of all colors.

As long as there are no land mines ahead, it looks as if the momentum will continue to build. We could do a whole lot worse and it does not look as if we could do any better, at least as of today.

What happened to Carol Mosely-Braun?

Wasn't she claiming interest?

Not that she would stand a chance, either.

you just watch them all drop out. when all is said and done, rahm will be running against a couple of token candidates.

we are soooo screwed!

Luis and his ilk demand the closing of the Gunnery Range on Vieques.

Klinton complies.

What happens next? The Navy said (in essence) "There is no need then for a huge Naval Base at Roosevelt Roads Puerto Rico" so they closed it up tight and threw thousands of civilians out of work.

The Little Rooster doesn't even live in the Congressional District that he represents. What kind of respect is that for "his people"

Look for him to go down in the payoff scandal, zoning scandal and cheap house scandal that the Feds are looking at him for.

He is a major, Police Hating POS.

From 1986 to 1992, Gutierrez was the alderman of Chicago's 26th Ward. In late 1992 he was elected to the United States House of Representatives from the State of Illinois's 4th district and thereby became the first Latino to be elected to Congress from the Midwest.

Regardless, he is a scumbag that isn't worthy of being a Latino or even a lowlife alderman or a slick representative. Even in error, please do not elevate him to the rank of United States Senator. The idea sickens me.

What none of these morons's seem to realize is the next two Mayors of Chicago will be 'one termer's' at best, because the only choice they will have is municipal bankruptcy (with required FBI forensic audit) or cutting deeply into programs 'for the community'. And 'the Community' won't like the end of freebies

Pretty much the same for President of the County Board and Governor.

I respectfully disagree with the above brother/sister.
Luis Guiterrez was first and still a FALN gangster terrorist and then he became even worse.
He was elected into politics.

Let's all just remember the term Harold Washington used to describe Luis Gucci-terrez:

"Pipsqueak"

Harold always did have a way with words.
