Security Breach at O'Hare

  • Bond was set at $200,000 Friday for a south suburban man charged with riding a bike on an O'Hare Airport runway Thursday night, then trying to go inside the terminal through a security door.

Marlow Sahron Land, Jr., 22, of the 17300 block of West Wausau Court in South Holland was charged with one count of criminal trespass to a restricted area of an airport, police said.

An unarmed security force, minimal staffing by CPD (sometimes numbering in the single digits overnight) and a giant construction presence. Nope, nothing could possibly go wrong here, like people riding bicycles on the runways.

Too bad he wasn't shot. Bond should have been a million or two -- just to make a point to other MTV "Jackass" idiots that there's a limit.

This isn't like running out onto the field at a baseball game. Marlow Sahron Land here -- as worthless as he may be for anything else -- and his bicycle represent a rather large Foreign Object for a jet engine to be ingesting. Hundreds could have died if all the "cascading failures" got lined up right.

Remember the last Facebook smartass who got killed riding his bicycle the wrong way down the expressway not too long ago? The SUV that did him had to be towed away...

If this Land likes airplanes, he'll love Fed Air...

You mean the problem Jimmy Maurer ignored until he was no longer being paid his enormous salary? Yeah, that one.

Whistleblower Jimmy. The final entry on your tombstone. Didn't get what you wanted and tattled.

There was another one about 2 weeks ago. Daleys multi million dollar system was proven wrong again. Too bad they will not listen to the coppers stationed there.

No one was "sleeping on the job" asshole ~ the airport goes from York & Irving to Mannheim to Higgins/Touhy/Route 72 and is patroled by 2-5 P.O.s on midnights....why don't you bid out to the airport and see if you can do better, Jag!

Your right on the money about Maurer~that bitch didn't do anything about the manpower shortage at the airport while he held that position until he threatened a female commissioner and was fired!

Maurer had been complaining about this issue all along. If you don't realize that, you weren't paying attention. I work out there and I know how many attempts he made to get more staff and to get anyone to pay attention to the enormous potential security crisis. But the political flunkies who run the place didn't want to hear about it.

"Whistleblower Jimmy (Maurer). The final entry on your tombstone." - 9:47 AM

I am a PROUD whistleblower versus the City of Chicago and CPD management. Do you have a problem with that? Perhaps you and your clout-infested ilk are the problem. Kudos to guys like Maurer and Andrews.

As a dick at Area 4, I handled many of Maurer's Part I arrests in 013 while he was the terror of Henry Horner projects, Black Panther HQ and the south end. Jim was da REAL muthafuckin' PO-leece.

So maybe General Patton was a hero to Maurer. Even I had a hero with a huge heart. While I never got his autograph, I did meet him--the big fellow was really friendly. I fell in love with him and made some $$$ to boot. They even made a movie about him that was just released.

So Maurer brought his dog to work a few times. I too plead guilty. My Bailey was involved in more Part I felony arrests than most of the current exempt suckholes.

The SC Gamecocks have held the top-ranked Crimson Tide at Columbia. Congratulations to the #1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes! Don't get complacent. OSU will have their hands full with the Badgers in Madison next Saturday night. Terrelle Pryor is now the front-runner for the Heisman Trophy.

That will be your last martini, partying Pamela. BTW, tell #4 that good things happen every time he touches the ball. Jim Tressel, take note.

Amazing. He might have built up enough street cred to keep his job (which, I think, is what all this sudden MSF stuff is all about) if he'd done things like that his first week here...

Getting a little late in the game, huh?

Oh, dear. That was "Marlow Sahron Land, Jr." How clumsy of me.

I'm seeing matching father-and-son golf sweaters with the little alligators. I'm seeing one of those mail-order fill-in-your-name street signs at the head of the driveway -- "LAND ST." I'm seeing Illinois plates "MSLSR" and "MSLJR" parked precisely, geometrically next to each other.

Still taking this in. 22 years old, this one. Grown man. Like the ones who got killed while throwing up s__t with spray paint on the expressway -- weren't they "graduate students" or something?

The "9 years old and really dumb" stage isn't a stage anymore; fully formed chronological adults are doing things like this now.

Jimmy M is for Jimmy M, just like Phil C is for Phil C. Whatever position they are in, whomever they are working for, they will do what it takes to get the job done - as long as it includes a little something for themselves.

In the meantime, they add a little humor, a little casual demeanor, a smile, and always say hello = and there you have it = they are just great guys.

Come one...puleeze...its called politicians. Some are just a little better at it than others.
