Raffle from Spiewak

New uniform item has been approved. And to go along with this new lightweight jacket, the folks at Spiewak are holding a raffle, exclusive to the Chicago Police Department:
  • The Chicago Police Department has approved the Spiewak Performance Fleece Jacket as an optional lightweight jacket for department use.

As a way of expressing our gratitude for the hard and often thankless job the men and women of Chicago Police Department do every day, Spiewak will be holding a raffle specifically for Chicago Police. The details of the raffle are as follows:

For every SPIEWAK S327 fleece jacket purchased at an AUTHORIZED Spiewak distributor in Chicago until December 31, 2010, the officer will automatically be entered into a raffle to win one of the following prizes:

1st Prize Two airline tickets to New York City; Two nights accommodations; Transportation from/to the New York airport; Visit the Spiewak Corporate office in New York to be fitted for a pair of CPD approved Timberland Pro Valor patrol boots

2nd Prize One pair of CPD approved Spiewak Microfiber high performance cargo pants; One pair of CPD approved Timberland Pro Valor patrol boots

3rd Prize One pair of CPD approved Timberland Pro Valor boots

In order to be eligible for the raffle, the officer must purchase the SPIEWAK fleece at one of the following distributors in Chicago:

JG Uniforms; Kale Uniforms; TriTaylor Uniforms; AJ Uniforms

The winners will be announced shortly after the New Year. Good Luck and Stay Safe!

    Andrew Schwab
    Midwest Spiewak Representative
Disclaimer: SCC is not receiving any compensation for promoting this raffle or product. We do own a Spiewak winter jacket and it is a damn warm jacket for the cold months here in Chicago and we paid full boat for it years ago.

We should just wear anything we want as long as we have the start and nametag visible, you know, like Old West lawmen did. After all, there is no "uniformity" on CPD anymore. We look worse than an old Hill Street Blues roll call. Since I've been on we have had:
1. leather jacket
2. 3/4 nylon
3. spring/fall Ike nylon
4. tufanyl waist lenght and 3/4
5. pullover sweater
6. zipper sweater
7. the new jacket with flip down ID boards
8. reefer
9. blouse
now.....oh, who can keep track.

The CPD uniform standard is a total fucking joke. You wonder why there's no respect for the Police these days? Look in the mirror!
You look so cute with your turtlenecks and "DICKIES". The pants with the 20 pockets are really sexy. The baseball caps are the best. We wouldn't want anything like a traditional crown hat messing up your gel crusted $30 haircuts. Fucking security guards have better looking and more authoritative threads.

Atlas and Chicago Uniform have the cheapest / crapiest quality of uniform.
Their coat linings are like paper.
Their prices are higher.
I wouldn't shop there if my life depended on it.
AJ's - Southside
JG's - Northside
Both have far better quality and service.

You cant have it both ways - get a uniform check and a first issue clause, then bitch about how everyone looks. The dept already ponied up the cash for your issue. It's called a uniform allowance. But you and I know that money gets spent on other things - like fam vacations, school tuition, and property taxes. Dont get me wrong, I know these are valid expenses for most of us, but if we ditched the first issue we'd lose the uni checks. Of course, the only req items are the wool and blouse. Keep bitchin and see if they dont respond with "OK. Everyone needs to wear their req uniform items now. No more optional items. Unif of the day is your class a.

When we had no uniform options and forced to wear the hat and sweat year round, I always heard cops say "why can't they let us wear something practical and durable". Now they are, and a few goofs want us to all look the same. Why?

If someone looks bad in the uniform its because they are sloppy, dirty, overweight, underweight - basically no self respect for their appearance.

Besides, theres no "uniformity" in today's department anyway.

This is going back some years but it probably is still there. If you look in department uniform specs you will find a style of approved earmuffs. They are black, warp-a-round and elastic. They were popular when the only the round crown cap was permitted, before the fur trooper caps, knit caps or baseball caps. You will see them in old pictures and probably for sale in the uniform stores, in a box, on a shelf gathering dust.

Stay warm and safe this winter.

P.S. There was also a spec for a "muffler" you could have. That's not a silencer, that’s an antiquated term for a neck scarf.

This is how the military wears their stuff - going all the way back to the old LBE up to today's MOLLE. I think they manage to run, jump, crawl, and climb pretty well.

Additionally, there is something to be said for getting that weight off your hips and onto your shoulders. Reduced back issues and no longer any need for suspenders. I dont know how you wear your vest, but mine is secure to my body, so things arent going to be bouncing.

Guys for years have been 'violating' the order about vest covers by adding pockets for radios, flashlights, and oc spray. This certainly is no different. If you want my opinion, seeing so many guys with knives clipped onto the slit pockets on the current vest cover is a greater concern. Or M4 mags poking out of them. Secure pouches with snap or velcro covers are much safer by comparison.

My .02

I'm tired of the beards and long hair along with the dreadlocks, twist, & braids and what not. Go back to the way it was when we looked like a real department.

Screw you, I been on the job 20 years and I wish someone would tell me I can't wear twists or braids.......can you say lawsuit aka the one Pat Hill won about her hair??????

20 years on or not, just referencing Pat Hill makes it clear that your a fucking softball. That goof did more to divide the department than any defendant, which she should have been for the pot smoking. Fuck her.
