Superhero Hangovers
"Superman" and "Batwoman" spent the night in West Side jail cells in full costume after they were arrested in separate alcohol-related incidents early Saturday.
Mario A. Reyes, 21, of Hoffman Estates, allegedly was intoxicated and was kicked out a party in the 800 block of South Oakley about 3 a.m., police said. He allegedly broke bottles in the hallway, frightening partygoers, Chicago Police said.
Reyes was charged with misdemeanor reckless con- duct and spent the night in the Harrison District lockup in his Superman costume -- cape included, according to police.
About 5 .am. Saturday, Cori Prifogle, 36, couldn't find her apartment door in the 700 block of West Washington, police said. She asked for help from a woman in the building and allegedly became belligerent when the woman didn't recognize her, calling the woman names and pushing her, police said. She was charged with misdemeanor battery and taken to the Harrison District lockup dressed in a latex Batwoman outfit, police said.

I have an inkling that the Data Services people have already flagged these two CB numbers to trickbag those who try and view them.
Don't try it guys and gals!! Resist the temptation.
our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the young woman who lost her life during a fall at the palmer house during a party last night----
How could you lock up a fellow crime fighter? He was just exposed to Krytonite that's all.
He was trying to find it in the bottles he was breaking.
That's the story we're running today in the Daily Planet.
There'a an idea for a coffee table book. Pix of those arrested on Halloween in costume, nationwide. Make it evoke a 'Blood on the Highway' tongue in cheek theme.
Didja hear about the dimwit who has been running all over town wearing a police superintendent's uniform?
how did batwomen look :) in latex
civilian post--
One time I, a rather hairy male, was dressed in a black ballerina tutu and my date was dressed up as a frog. We strolled through Lincoln Park and found ourselves on the bridal path. Along comes a police car. We caught a break, but to this day my wife and I laugh at two things: the older cop chided us that we could have been run over, and I politely said, I thought this was a horse path and he seriously said,"Horses would hurt too" (we are married and my wife still says that to me when I say something dumb) and when they were letting us go I asked,"you guys seem like you see this kind of thing all the time," and the older one deadpanned, "what kind of thing," like our costumes didn't even raise an eyebrow. "Wouldn't be the first time I saw a he/she fucking a frog."
Years later I saw that the younger cop had been murdered taking a psychotic lady off a bus...
stay safe officers.

There is always a log.
Thoughts and prayers would not need to go out to the family of the female who lost her life at the Palmer House yesterday, if she had used the hand rail as a HANDRAIL. It is not called a ass rail, it is a HANDRAIL. I can see a lawsuit coming because the hotel does not have some type of catching device next to the bannister to catch fools.....
A bunch of white clueless college kids roaming the west side Sat. night. Party let out and they had no idea where they were at just walking around with their heads in their asses. Wake up kiddies this isn't Kansas anymore the scarecrow lion and tin-man will kill your ass and feed toto to their pitbulls.

the kids she taught have more sense than she did. Idiot. Her family will probably sue the hotel for having a staircase w/ a railing.
Concerning the 23 year old "teacher" who died at the Palmer House party after drunkingly trying to slide down a bannister.
Graduate of NIU last year able to get a CPS teaching job with benefits and good salary and then dies stupid, what a shame.

The 'younger' cop, a veteran about to retire at the time of his murder, worked for me for a couple of years. He always had that kind of sardonic wit and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed one.
Thank you for another really good memory of a really great guy. Rest in peace, Rick.

"Authorities say Megan Duskey, a special education teacher from Crete, apparently was attempting to slide down a banister when she fell four stories and was killed instantly. Although there's no indication the tragedy was alcohol-related, the fire department put a stop to the party shortly about 12:30 a.m. after ambulances had been called on four separate occasions for partygoers who appeared to have gotten sick from too much drinking."

If you want to humilate yourself and your companions and ruin your career -- at least it used to be so -- a much safer way is getting liquored up and then jumping in your evening gown into the swimming pool at some elegant formal-dress soiree' at -- say, the Saddle and Cycle Club, right in front of the firm's general partners.
You are not Zelda Fitzgerald. You won't actually die, but you will wish that you had the next morning. You will spend the rest of your employment with that concern in mundane tasks involving staplers and collating.

Sorry for the needless loss of her life, but I agree that she was the cause of her own demise. We know, in this line of work, that people just make really stupid decisions sometimes.
Speaking of super heroes - did anyone take a look at the recruiting video on the Departmeht's web page? Did he really say " you can be just like Spiderman? " or did I mishear that?
"Megan Duskey, a special education teacher from Crete, apparently was attempting to slide down a banister when she fell four stories and was killed instantly. Although there's no indication the tragedy was alcohol-related..."
Yeah, there was "no indication the tragedy was alcohol-related" either, when that CPS field trip of "honor students" and "future leaders" went up to Wisconsin, stole some boats that turned out not to have plugs in the bottoms, and took them out on the Fox River at night to drown.
The taxpayers picked up the tab for the funerals, but no one ever did us the courtesy of sharing the tox screens with us. Drunk? High? Hallucinating giant water lilies? Who knows?
I hate to say it, but I suspect that something similar will occur in this case...none of your business, just pay up.
Grown woman, at one smasho of a party with four separate ambulance runs -- in the Palmer House, yet? We never had that much trouble when we were 15 years old drinking in someone's basement and watching old war movies...we finished up and either walked home or slept there.
I don't know what to say anymore, except it would seem that it's the alleged adults -- like the ones riding their zoomy bicycles A. the wrong way on B. the Dan Ryan -- who seem to need chaperones and those little leashes today.
Think of it as evolution in action...

You can think it, but putting it here make you a class "A" jagoff in the J-Fled mold.
As of now, there is no suit, just you being a smug prick. She was a great kid that taught special needs kids. She made a mistake having fun and wasn't hurting or bothering anyone.
You don't belong on our job.
Some things don't mix well with alcohol -- asides from cars.
Balconies are bad -- usually at least one goes over the edge from their group-rented hotel room during Spring Break down south, trying to walk around balanced up on the railing...
Water is bad, too. There's always the one who decides to swim out there at around 3 AM...then starts having trouble, and someone else in no better condition goes out there after them...
...and then there are the ones who do make it to the end of the evening, and then decide to walk home down the railroad tracks...
...and of the ones who make it home, a certain percentage falls asleep with a cigarette going...
I see these things in newspapers from fifty, one hundred years ago. Sad little single paragraphs.
Human nature.
I say a prayer for all of them, and go on with the day which God has given me.

Yeah, I saw her picture too. Guys get angry sometimes -- it's not really at the person, it's just frustration at the waste, the senselessness.
Every day, I see more people who don't think at all -- strolling diagonally across four lanes of fast traffic with their heads down, texting away with both thumbs.
Please think more, people. It'd make the policeman's, fireman's, paramedic's, and Medical Examiner's jobs a little easier...
