Stroger Era Draws to a Close
- Cook County Board President Todd Stroger's administration treated families whose homes were damaged by floods to a nearly $79,000 party at Brookfield Zoo, paying for the day of fun with federal grant money meant to restore those homes, newly released county documents show.
The Sept. 12 zoo event included parking, admission, special attractions and "hungry as a bear" picnic baskets for up to 2,250 people, according to an invoice. The zoo tab also covered more than $8,000 in entertainment, including a prize raffle, a disc jockey, a face painter, seven caricature artists, a juggler and a stilt walker.
At the event, called a "family resource day," flood victims also received tips on how to remove mold, job training and health screenings. There was a music therapy workshop.
What any of this has to do with restoring flood damaged house, we really don't know, but the Toddler really ought to be explaining this to a federal magistrate at some point. We're sure he'd be a big hit in prison.

I can't wait for this arrogant PIECE OF SHIT to leave the office. What a fucking joke this asshat has been.
The reason given to explain pissing away 80G is better than any comedy writer could have come up with.
"We had to get them all together to explain everything and have them sign up"
Where the Fuck are the Fed's Grand Jury on this? Is the office vacant??? Inquiring minds...
I'm sending Tod some Vaseline for Christmas . . . he'll need it in the near future.
In addition to this inappropriate expenditure, Stroger ought to also be explaining who owns the connected company that catered the food for this ridiculous extravaganza. A TV news report a few months ago put the cost of each child's lunch at $13.00!
Ahhh Cook County/Chicago, Illinois; a thief's paradise!
This has everything to do with how liberal Democrats want to spend the tax dollars of hard working Americans. Piss it away on crap like face painting and music workshops while the rest of us go to work.
WAKE UP! Anyone voting for a democrat in this city is as guilty as the criminals we arrest. This is a disgusting display of waste by these idiots that Chicagoans vote for again and again.
Quinn, Daly and Madigan are here to destroy what is good. Civil unions, reduced pensions for teachers, cops and firefighters while they keep pensions for politicians in place. ENOUGH! When will these fools learn?
And on that piece of shit station ABC7, they had the poor Todd story on at 1700 hours and NOTHING on the funeral....fuck you Ch. 7!!!!
Just once, I'd like to see one of these bastards charged with mismanaging Federal funds and forced to reimburse the funds from his own wallet!
From a post yesterday...
"DOWN-SIDE: Watch for (Former alderman) Ed Smith to be named to a position in Cook County President elect Preckwinkle's administration."

Now is a time when this will be common.
You see, while WE citizens were screwed by the now dead Dan Rostenkowski from collecting more than one gov't pension, the same does NOT apply to politicians. They can happily collect several. For instance, besides everything he's stolen from the taxpayers, I believe Shortshanks is in line to collect pensions from The state legislature, Cook County States Attorney's Office, AND the City of Chicago.
The list of these people goes on and on... Bobby Rush, Danny Davis, Beavers, Gutierrez, John Daley, Stroger, Fritchey, Preckwinkle, etc. etc.
Great retirement if you are a chosen one.
Thats Bullshit! They didnt have a Boo Boo party for us on the northside.
Good riddance, Erkl.
What a fu**ing thief. Just like his old man. Ghetto is as ghetto does.
Where is the FBI and Fitzgerald? Fraud is a crime and indictments should follow!

Congratulations on raising up the first squawk about civil unions, Mr. or Ms. Lack of Insight.
Reality check - it gives some of the benefits of civil marriage while making it illegal to force religious institutions to recognize same sex unions. The Federal government still doesn't recognize civil unions so gay or straight couples in a civil union can still get hit with higher taxes, depending on how they file. The new law applies to heterosexual couples who want a civil union as well. Why (you might ask if you had a brain...)? Because our seniors living on social security- which isn't much to start with- get their benefits cut if they marry. This law allows them to inherit, make medical decisions for their partner, guarantees hospital visitation, etc, without those couples falling lower down the economic chart.
Think about it- is a gay or lesbian police officer or firefighter any less dead that a straight officer? Gay and lesbian families don't get the in the line of duty benefits that married officers do (and some of the gay and lesbian couple do have children). Would you band together to help their family if tragedy struck? Most of you would in a heartbeat because you're decent human beings- but Mr. or Ms. 12/02/2010 01:16:00 AM, I doubt if you would.
Seriously - how does a civil contract between two adults to take care of each other's well being, actually affect you?
It doesn't, so quit whinning.
I rarely watch the news but because the wifey was watching, I got to see that little, glasses wearing, weasel Todd actually BRAG that the citizens of Cook County got THEIR money's worth for his term in office. To that I say, only if they incarcerate your little punk-a$$ will I call even-stevens. But what do I know, I just wear a blue shirt and drive one of those cars with the funny blue and white paint job.
Just like his old man. Ghetto is as ghetto does.

Amen brother!
Over 2200 people attended this fucking event and only a few hundred people were actually helped with the flood. Another disgusting waste of taxpayer money.
Don't forget how he praised Donna Dunnings, his piece of shit cousin who was convicted of fraud and helped bail out the bus boy who worked at the steak restaurant.
My house had some water damage----where's my pic-a-nic basket?
FYI - I saw a clip on the news today about some "plan" the Rahmfather has for running the city. The new wrinkle is that it appears he has Ex-Dem Senate candidate David Hoffman on his "team".
The Zoo?? Sounds like a family re-union to me!!!!

Go fuck yourself. I don't care one way or another about civil unions. The point is that they waste time with that bullshit while stealing from public servants and blowing smoke up everyone's ass to take the attention away from the theft.
Now tell me you didn't vote for the Machine just because they talk nice about gay issues while they steal from you if you're a cop.
How in the hell did these 2,500 "Flood Damage Victims" know of this event and NO ONE ELSE DID.
Hells bells, how many of us suffered damages that we repaired on our own, cause that's what you do when something breaks or is in need of repair in the home you own??
Furthermore, please someone take a tally and review how many of the actual attendees are HOMEOWNERS !!!
Do you think that when Stroger leaves, all his clouted relatives will be demoted by CPD? Dep. A. Stanley, (niece). and the lot?
Does that mean Ramos is coming back to cpd?
