- Rev. Jesse Jackson said Saturday that he plans to file a lawsuit seeking to strip former Chicago Police Lt. Jon Burge of his pension.
The Chicago Police pension board split 4-4 on whether to allow Burge, who was convicted for lying about police torture under his watch, to continue receiving the payouts. Five votes were required to strip him of his pension.
Jackson said Saturday that he will file a lawsuit over that vote because Illinois state law states pension benefits shall not be paid to public officials “convicted of any felony relating to or arising out of or in connection with service as a firefighter.”
We can't imagine how Jesse has any standing whatsoever in any lawsuit. He's injecting himself into something once again in a desperate effort to stay relevant.

I am embarrassed that Jody Weis promoted Ernie Brown to Deputy Superintendent, with all of the sustained allegations of misconduct in Brown's CPD history - as a command staff member!
I am embarrassed that Jody Weis and Mike Masters are members of the Chicago Police Department. Their tenure is marked with the highest levels of corruption within the command staff ranks of the Chicago Police Department.
It would be a real reach for anyone to associate Burge's conviction FOR LYING with his occupation.
Everyone seems to forget he was NOT convicted of torturing, raping, pillaging, whatever.
He was convicted of lying. I could lie about my weight to a Fed. That has nothing to do with my job. I could be CONVICTED of lying to a Fed about my weight. It still has nothing to do with my job.
Burge served this city during a different, violent, wild and crazy time in this city and he deserves his pension. Period.

I doubt that is true. The CPD has had a lot of corrupt higher ups going back into the 1800s. You can't really expect honest higher ups in any city department in a city run by a series of criminals for over a century.
He was convicted for something he did after he was retired. The law says he keeps his pension period. If they do this than any retired officer that breaks the law will lose their pension as well. I love the way these liberal racist pukes try and change the rules whenever they feel like it or do not like the true legal decision rendered.

the media allows too many commentators to say burge was convicted for torturing prisoners. not true. he was convicted for lying about knowledge of it during a deposition -- long after he retired. his sentence was based on the lying conviction. the judge even said that if he took the 5th at the dep, he would not have been charged criminally.

Rahm dodged questions about this being a clout plum from Bill Clinton and any responsibility for the housing crisis in this country.

A LESSON FOR J-FLED ;
An old prospector shuffled into town leading an old tired mule.
The old man headed straight for the only saloon to clear his parched throat.
He walked up and tied his old mule to the hitch rail. As he stood there, brushing some of the dust from his face and clothes, a young gunslinger stepped out of the saloon with a gun in one hand and a bottle of whiskey in the other.

Correct me if I am wrong, but neither of these guys are getting a pension from our funds....can anyone dispute or confirm??
I am not a police officer and I don't live in Chicago, so I don't believe I am entitled to comment on what an asshast JFled is (although I just did so). But Jesshup "N'gimmeyomonay" Jackson, that's a different story. What a complete, total, worthless scumbag POS. After all his decades of promoting racism and feeding out of the trough, I find it hard to believe that the media gives this jagoff any coverage. Rev. Jesse Jackson. The "Rev." actually stands for revolting. What a frigging hypocrite.
The hard truth is that this city was in a real bind in the 70's and 80's, between 800 and 900 murders per year, not to mention the A/Robberies, Rapes etc. Police Officers being shot or beaten on a regular basis. The Lefkow's, Flint Taylor's, Daley's, Thompson's, Webb's' Jackson's, and Weiss' all lived in relative safe enclaves protected by good men who wore blue. Not one of them could Jon's jockstrap. He was and still is a brave man and this is his thanks, convicted for LYING? The above mentioned sons-a-bitches lie every day, and make tons of money and deal off the bottom of the deck when it comes to average Joe. The sooner we are rid of these rotten bastard's the better. Does OJ Simpson still get a pension, even though the killers of Goldman and Nicole have never been found? Burge was not convicted of something he did on the job. Just as ex-Gov. Thompson pleads for Ryan's mercy, despite Ryan's lies, leave Burge alone. For God Sake's he's already going to prison, isn't that enough? What about JFed and Masters?
I hate being told where to live myself as much as the next guy, but I do think the pension issue is more important right now. In 9 years, I will be able to retire and draw from a 20 year pension. I want to take that money and supplement a lower paying, more satisfying part time career. I want to have my pension there to help me pay my bills after I gave 22 of my best years to this job. No respect, working horrible hours, being left out of family get togethers, missing special events, being attacked, harrassed, injured, etc... some of these on a daily baises. Credit and character all affected by frivilous lawsuits being brought upon us by bottom feeding law firms, just for City payouts to low class criminals, when an Officer just does his job. I want the pension that was promised as a benefit of the job I swore to do. You see, we agreed to uphold the law, live in the City, and about a million other things. I, and thousands of others, agreed to and have kept our end of the deal. Now it's time for the City to hold up their end of the deal. There is a possibility that I will see at least 3 or 4 New Superintendents, 2 to 3 Mayors, and a couple new Presidents over my final stretch. I don't think the best person will ever be chose for any of those job's, but the rest of us that are actually doing our job's should be properly compensated. It's the least we should expect and it should not be messed with. It is the only light at the end of the Public Servants job. Our driving force.
