New Old Teams - Again?

Everything old becomes new again:
  • Remember how all of the Area Saturation teams were recently disbanded, under the premise that manpower would be put back into the districts?
    Well, here we go again....

It seems that A2 has decided that they cannot do without a team under their control. They have decided that each district in Area 2 needs to give up between 4-8 P.O.'s to be part of their new "64" Tact team. These officers will report to the district they work out of, pick up radios and cars, then report to Area 2 for assignment. They allegedly will keep two of the officers in Area 2 at a designated Hot Spot, while the rest will be sent back into their district to work on district problems. The only problem is these officers being sent back to their districts for the rest of the tour can be pulled in response to any urgent matter.

How many days have you seen Area 2 NOT have a shooting? There's your urgent matter, and less people in the district where they normally work. Of course, think through the scenario, and see where the potential exists for grievances on this, never mind the ever increasingly dangerously low manpower levels in district law enforcement.

Oh, and they are NOT being called Saturation teams, because we disbanded those...they are the new district tact teams (ie 364, 464, 564, 664, and 2264).
Re-inventing the wheel at the cost of manning the beat cars.

It was an interesting roll call today in 011. At the 3rd watch late roll call, we had the citywide team come in to talk to us. Things started to get heated when they were called to task. You would have thought Trustee Garza was going to jump over a table and punch a copper who had the balls to ask about why they did not accept the 24 hour rule for police involved shootings. "I've been in three shootings, how many have you been in?" he shouted at one point. Wow, all we are doing is asking questions. He then had to be put in a corner for time out. Things only got worse from there. They didn't have an answer for why the financial secretary cannot enter the FOP hall, or why arbitator Benn was picked for out arbitration when he ruled against ISP sergeants and Boone County Sherrifs. And why was he hired by FOP to sit on the election committee for $1300.00 a day. they mumbled though some nonsense, and then Garza emerged from time out to say that the question portion of the visit was over. Take your FOP book cover and pen and don't forget to vote citywide. When they come to your roll call, be sure to ask these questions. Along with how much did the FOP pay Julie Diemer when she was wrongfully terminated. We paid $360,000.00 to fight the case. I heard that was asked in the early roll call. They said to go to ther union and check the books. It was very said. We get yelled at when we ask questions and get bullshit answers. Shame on you citywide.

Looks like the phone calls got tired of working the beat. Im sure they complained enough of having to work the district, answering calls, writing reports, issuing tickets, handling domestics and working the mandated 8.5 hours, work thats definitely beneath them. What a joke! We need help out here! The beat officer is held in such complete disregard by the powers that be, its a shame. Maybe if our superintendent started out as a beat cop maybe he would realize what holds this city and this deparment together. Us, the men and women in blue on the beat, 24/7. Hold your heads up high! remember the mission is to be safe and go home to your families. May God Bless you all.

Well, if any of these newly formed A/2 teams lock somebody up, they will be in for a world of surprise when they get to the A/2 lock up.

That will be one way to keep the teams in A/2, have them wait in line for over an hour and a half to get their prisoners in.

Congrats to you A/2 - you have just passed all the tuff guys in A/4, with their black "Fillmore Ranger" hoodies, as being the worst lock up in the city, outside of central detention of course.

But then again, Central D, well those guys are in a "Unit".

Handjob!

Who is their Sgt going to be? Merit Detective and merit Sgt CP? Who had a CR for yelling out from the gallery in open court at a judge when he didn't like the way the case was going for his girlfriend defendant? Whose son was a "witness" to a shooting which happened in the Sgt's driveway and then hindered the investigation? Must be nice to have clout.

Area 2 never stopped having an Area 2 Saturation Team. Area 2 had 3 Saturation Teams most of last year. They all used the "42S" Beat designations. Now they have 1 Team that works straight days that concentrates on Burglaries and Agg Batteries. This Team was formed at the bequest of Alderman Hairston when the 3rd District experienced an increase in Burglaries last year. The Sgt that runs this Team is a former A/2 Detective that has close ties to Alderman Hairston.

So, between going into District A to get equipment, then running to District B to do roll call and assignments... and then returning the car and equipment at the end of tour...........you have wasted half the tour!

These guys running the show are the clowns.

Why do Area Deputies want to be tact Lts? That is an administrative position and should remain that way. Give it up guys, they are phasing you out soon.

Afternoons in 004 has no bodies to give up, but they have no choice. It is OUTRIGHT DANGEROUS there. There is a constant back-log and no assist cars to back you up. Another one of is going to be harmed. We don't deserve that.

I don't think ANYBODY likes CP. The only reason he still has a team is because the guys on it have families and need to work days. Those that don't already left his ass. Fuck him.

Does anyone realize that when you mention Area 2 that about 3/4 of the personal are forty and older. This is a sign of an aging police force. The tact, saturation, detectives, etc are, lets face it....old. Talk about old teams. Area 2 has got em. The problem with this is the young guys that are on the street see that as an edge.

Garza is the guy who has so much trouble reading officers' names at the general meetings award ceremonies. At least Caparelli could read English when he had that task.

I got the same thing when I asked how much that lawyer was paid. i was told to make an appointment and look at the books. I asked but no answer so far.

Just shut up and vote for citywide team, they are the only ones who can possibly do the job.

Everything one trustee said at roll call was bullshit. No proof for anything he said. None.
