Sucking Up Already

Anyone else see a certain policy group lieutenant all over Rahm at the victory party?

We're betting we just saw the newest member of the command staff of the CPD securing his spot.

Does this impact on Rahm's public statements to replace J-Fled, seeing how tight Ray Ray seems to be with J-Fled, Masters (Masters Masters) and Rahm himself?

OT:
Judge rules NYPD must turn over shooting reports
By DAREH GREGORIAN
Last Updated: 5:41 PM, February 22, 2011
A Manhattan judge has ordered the NYPD to release data on police shooting incidents that it had been fighting tooth and nail to keep private.
In a decision made public today, State Supreme Court Justice Emily Jane Goodman ruled the cops must turn over two kinds of reports that are filed after every shooting incident involving a civilian to the New York Civil Liberties Union.

Goodman's ruling orders the NYPD release two types of reports it creates after cops fire their weapons at civilians - an initial report that's filed 24 hours after the incident, and another more detailed report that's filed 90 days after a shooting.

REGARDING FOP ELECTION...

I have family "on the job" and happen to work at the postal station where your election ballots are being sent...as of this morning (Tues) I was told by coworkers that there are nearly 10,000 of your ballots received (we WERE at 21 po boxes already and now probably closing in on 30-32 of them!!! CRAZY amount of mailed ballots). At this point, I was told by officers in the family that this is a historical return based on past elections. This means only one thing...like any other election where people are fed up with the status quo and want "Change", they turn out in record numbers to make sure their voices are heard (to bad the same cant be said for mayor election tonite!). I have no stake in the game and dont know who is who in your election, but its gonna be a landslide for whoever the new guy(s) is/are. Just wanted to share this tidbit of info. with you guys. Thanks for all you do - your service is not unnoticed. Good luck to all involved...long live union employees!!!

His promotion to anything inportant under Rahm will only push those few Pos that are on the sidelines into a solid unit of police that will do nothing and bring down Rahm's first and only term.

I would think that with the mayoral results, the bordering suburbs are looking to increase their business revenue. For a couple bucks more I can drive to the suburbs, get my gas, groceries and do all kinds of shopping and now I can get other services done there, too. The only reason I have to be in Chicago is to work and keep "residency". But, maybe all that needs to be in the basement or attic of the house are some pictures, wedding dress, children's toys and a few other family hand-me-downs to claim residency?! Then, I only have to be in the city to work. I am formulating a plan now....

Ok, I know I will get blasted, but I have to ask, who is Ray Ray? I'm a detective w/26 yrs. on. I go to work, work my cases, and try to stay as invisible as possible. I don't pay attention to who the boss is over there or over there, I just try to keep my immediate supervisors off my back--then go home to the real world. I wouldn't know a deputy chief from an Indian chief. All the rest doesn't affect me, but who the hell is RR? I've gathered that KB is just a pretty, incompetent turd who has been handed responsibility beyond her capabilities. On the bright side:

He's independently wealthy, so he won't have to steal much.

He doesn't mangle the English language as much.

He's smarter so he won't be taken advantage as much.

Patrick isn't his son, so he doesn't get the free pass anymore.

Unfortunately that's all I can think of, but I feel a little better, don't you?

Madison, Wisconsin (CNN) -A left-leaning website that union supporters used to rally protesters in Wisconsin was partially blocked as demonstrators gathered in the state Capitol over a controversial budget bill. The website, defendwisconsin.org, could not be accessed on Monday and into Tuesday morning in the Capitol building, where crowds assembled over proposed legislation that would increase the costs of benefits to public employees and curb their collective-bargaining rights.

What is all of this bullshit about " pulling the string asap"? I can tell you from experience, that if you retire too early you might end up in financial problems. The pension will not satisfy your retirement, unless you move to pump handle, kentucky with a lower cost of living. If you think that you will need a lot less money to enjoy retirement, think again. If you have a lot put into deferred comp and are smart about taking it out, you will be OK, but not great. And, getting ajob in the private sector? I did that for six years. As you will find out, the working conditions/benefits in the private sector are a lot different, a lot different. It will be difficult to adjust.Be careful what you wish for.

So, another inconvenience to life in Chicago.

I'll be servicing my car outside the city, washing it where I (already) gas up outside the city, buying my flowers outside the city and getting my hair cut outside the city. If any of these businesses ask for my home address, I'm sure I can find a suburban address to give them.

Until property values turn around, I'm here. But my MONEY doesn't have to be. My money is going to be spent where I get the best value for every penny of it, especially considering this guy wants to hack away at the pension that's been promised to me for the last twenty-eight years.

Just as we wished Phil Cline was back , you'll be wishing Daley ran again , tough time ahead for police .

I buy in bulk & load up the SUV.
Get a deep freezer if you don’t already have one & a vacuum sealer; keeps dry goods fresh up to 2 years, frozen food up to 2 years.
Been doing this for the last 5 years, & find cheaper goods w/ no extortionist tax rate.
Plus, there is the added satisfaction knowing I didn't fuel the state & city corruption.

OT -
Stubby speaks:

CHICAGO (CBS) – On his first full day as mayor-elect of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel said Wednesday that he would not consider a property tax hike to address the city’s underfunded pension systems.

Estimates have pegged the city’s unfunded pension liabilities at as high as $20 billion and some have speculated that it would take a property tax hike of 90 percent to plug the hole.

But Emanuel said Wednesday that he would instead seek to work with the city’s labor unions to make changes to the city’s pension systems to avoid any property tax hike.

“it would be irresponsible to raise property taxes 90 percent, which I will not do,” Emanuel said.

Asked if there was any level of property tax hike that he would support to fix the city’s pensions, Emanuel said no.

“This is going to be collective bargaining and the collective will be with the people that are representing our police, our firefighters, our teachers and other unions as we try to work this out,” Emanuel said. “There are parts to this and I am not looking at a 90 percent increase in property (taxes.) I am not looking at property taxes.”

Emanuel said he also wanted the city’s employee unions to know that he favored maintaining the defined pension benefits system that city employees already use for their retirement funds, instead of forcing them to switch to a 401 (k)-style system of defined contributions.

“I, as a mayor, am committed to the defined benefit pension,” Emanuel said. “We are not the only city facing this crisis, or state. Every municipality is. I want to be the first city to solve it on a cooperative basis. It will require all of us working together. When I say shared sacrifice, there will be shared changes.”

For his own part, Emanuel has said that, while he will take a salary as mayor, he will not take a pension because he doesn’t need it.

Been doing this for the last 5 years, & find cheaper goods w/ no extortionist tax rate.

I agree and have done the same on occasion. Let's not forget some of our fixed income senior citizen neighbors. They are not mobile like us. If you are stocking up get a list from a senior. Most of them are trapped in this city. A lot of us shovel their snow and cut their grass without being asked. All lot of them have to make tough choices regarding medicine and food. These people have done their part as good citizens their whole life. They don't have nor would they use a link card. They pay their way and don't ask for hand outs. Its not the system that's fucked up.... its the muthafuckas that abuse it that's fucking it up and they should get punished not the whole damn department. Anything can happen to you where you'll need time off where it can be a couple weeks to a few months. Now these muthafuckas that are allowed to be on the medical for 7 & 10 years...yeah they need their asses kicked....unless its for something that would really require them to be "convalescent duty" for that amount of time. Otherwise, they're messing it up for those of us that may really need to use it one day. I call bullshit on it though. But getting rid of the medical would be bad. I don't throw anonymous shots at people. But, Sgt SB is one of the most competent and fair supervisors I have worked for. He has one pet peeve, he wants everyone who is free to ride on in progress jobs. The savages watch everything we do and if they start thinking we can be overpowered and outnumbered we are in for a bad hair day.

What Fran Spielman and Rahm haven't mentioned is that the medical and 2 desk spots per watch are in the contract. Rahm can want to do lots of things but unless the FOP caves in during contract negotiations the current medical and 2 bid desk spots per watch will most likely continue.
What could the city possibly offer to offset the change in our medical? Rahm can't realistically threaten us with layoffs.

OT Daley offered us 16% raise and we rolled the dice for more money because of the olympics , we lost.

next contract we'll be lucky to receive any raise and will probably lose a few of our holidays.

Supervisors will lose 45 minutes a day overtime and bonus overtome paid every three months .

Just as we wished Phil Cline was back , you'll be wishing Daley ran again , tough time ahead for police .

One good thing is Rahm will get rid of medical , assign desk duty officers back to patrol duties and will eliminate Gold Braid Pension .

******************************
Besides glaring ignorance of the wellk nown fact that Daley's 16% "raise" was coupled with a 17+% GIVEBACK in the form of LOST TIME OFF OF WORK DUE TO UNPAID FURLOS, It's absolutely amazing how some of the truly braindead in this city follow along like sheeple in the thinking that Emanuel has the authority to do a god damn thing to change ANY of these things that are contractually guaranteed.

Listen up dipshits, this runt fuck has no choice at this point but to NEGOTIATE any or all of these things you just think he has authority to strip you of.

Contract violations will cost the taxpayers in court, without a doubt.

And during those required negotiatins he can demand and dictate anything he wants, not a fucking thing is going to change unless the large lot of pantywasted punks on this department who still shit their pants because this fucker tells them to decide to actually be stupid enough to fucking AGREE to this fuckhead's demands.

Just remember, this fucker has no authority over a contract in this or any state. Not until he either files bankruptcy or gets the Illinois constitution changed along with over a dozen other various state labor laws.

Grow up you idiots and stop crying about how this shithead is gonna do this or that. He has no more authority or lawful right to do anything more than Daley ever could, NONE.

We'll meet this fucker head on in court, and if necessary any of his attempts to try and fuck employees by changing the laws to fuck them will be taken beyond his bought and paid for Illinois Supreme Cronies.

Many laws will have to be changed and rewritten before this asswipe will accomplish anything he's tried to claim he can do with impugnity. Don't be assholes and actually fucking AGREE to it.

And in the event has can actually pull off the corruption of every lawmaker in the juduciary of Illinois AND the federal courts, the workers will have the final say when we stop this city dead in it's tracks for as long as it takes to put this fuck in his place.

Let him try and train and rehire tens of thousands of city employees in a few days to keep city services running.

Good fuckin luck douchebag!

"Did anyone look at the pen you were given to mark your vote with yesterday? Made in Japan. WTF? Nobody in Chicago knows how to make ink?"

--2/23/2011 10:32:00 AM

The paper is going too. I bought a "Penway" pocket notebook at Walgreens, the kind with the coil binding across the top.

All of a sudden you think something is wrong with your pens, but it's the paper -- Chinese-made paper is oily or something, God knows what they dump in there or what's in the process water, and it won't take ink right.

Really inferior stuff -- the paper is becoming soft like Kleenex after just a few weeks' use, and the whole thing is going to fall apart.

I must have grabbed a piece of similar paper to make a shopping list; it was all limp and soft and falling apart before I even got everything checked off at the store!

Currently the average officer uses only 9 days of Medical each year. If they removed (and can't because of the contracts) the years worth of medical and gave you only say 12 days each year they already know you would take 12 days each year. That means that they would loose. They do not want to touch the medical plan because it works for them. They would like to change the convalescent and limited duty process but they still have no idea how to do it.
A department as big as the CPD needs administrative people just to handle the volume of paperwork that is generated. This is needed if you want to get paid. If they get rid of the Convalescent and Limited duty people they know they would have no one to to the paperwork except for full duty people. That would mean pulling full duty people off the street to handle all the administrative duties.
If you think you don't need the years worth of medical look around you. As a young copper we all feel invincible. As we age so do our bodies. I doesn't take much to blow out a disc in your back, or to screw up your ACL, have a heart attack or even just slip on the ice taking out the garbage at home.
I screwed up my leg while at home and was off for several months and if I only had 12 days a year I would have been screwed. I had not used the medical in over 12 years when it happened. Anyone who thinks we don't need the year is living in a fantasy world.

Yeah, right. Do you mean the way he wasn't a resident in violation of the Illinois law and the Supreme Court of Illinois said he was good? You mean like that? Grow the fuck up. This is Illinois politics. Nothing is on the square here.
