Rahm Reads the Blog?
Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel has broached a touchy subject during private meetings with aldermen to solicit their ideas on budget and ethics reform: cutting the nation’s second-largest City Council in half.
Several aldermen, who asked to remain anonymous, said they were stunned when Emanuel opened the discussion by asking them point-blank, “What do you think about going down to 25 aldermen?”
It was a bold opening line for a mayor-elect who will need every vote he can get to reorganize the Council, pass his programs and solve a budget and pension crisis that literally has Chicago on the brink of bankruptcy.
There was a blog hereabouts that took this effort to the next level a year or so ago. In fact, they collected just over 11,000 signatures in a matter of weeks in October/November of 2009 and garnered more than a few media mentions in their efforts.
Since Rahm must have his people scouring the internet for bright ideas, if they just follow this link here (from 26 October 2009), they can find a handy little petition already created that can force the issue to a vote.
Does anyone think Rahm wants some input for the Superintendent's job?

My vote is for Roti.
"...cutting the nation’s second-largest City Council in half..."
Hell, half a alderman would do me as much good as none at all.
Pat Levar -- who is the size of TWO aldermen -- couldn't be bothered to return calls when we needed help.
What difference would it make?
YES cut the alderman down to 25.
ALSO, get rid of the "Gold Braid Pension" . . it CAN be done without violating state constitution by the foloowing:
PAY Command staff their Non-Exempt pay and make the extra amount they make for their rank a "stipend".
This can be done not only with the Chicago Police department but other city and various other govermental agencies and school boards.
NO MORE $150,000+ government pensions!!!
We don't need an alderman in my neighborhood, Clearing. Please note the extremely poor public transit, all the boarded up businesses, etc
I hope Rahm starts at the top -- with the aldermen that are costing the city the most to employ.
Those that believe that they are so endangered that they have to have drivers and security details at their beckon call 24/7
With the state the budget is in "SHARED SACRIFICE" is called for. We can not and should not be providing these luxuries any longer.
It's pretty ridiculous the number of alderman that we have to represent the people of Chicago when compared to the number of state representatives and senators for the entire state of Illinois.
Rahmmy baby if these current aldermen are unwilling or unable to handle a larger workload that it takes to cover a wider area of the population then I say that it's time to find some "tech-savvy" aldermen of the 21st century that knows how to reach out to their communities then.
Remap those wards and then take a look at things like the cities towing service that run the auto pound. End the monopoly and no-bid contracts.
The best way to get the city a better deal on these contracts is to create some competition. Break up the territories for starters you'll see those rates we're being charged and the bull shit they're pulling stop.
There are ways we can get that parking meter contract redone too!
Rahm, you talked the talk at election time -- now let's see you walk the walk.
It was a bold opening line for a mayor-elect who will need every vote he can get to reorganize the Council, pass his programs and solve a budget and pension crisis that literally has Chicago on the brink of bankruptcy.
__________
This sounds like the best thing he can possibly do to accomplish the above goals!
I think I just might like Mr Emanuel. The alderman are dogs. They gave themselves raises and wanted to take away from everyone but themselves. The # can drop down to 12 for all I care.
Its coming down soon for GEU, each unit will give up the 5 lowest seniority officers for a total of 25 officers going back to the districts. Also the ones that are left will be in uniform for the summer.
Well it would be nice to know he is a blog reader. I don't think this will pass muster. Asking alderman if they want to give up their power and their positions is probably not going to get any favorable responses.
Dear Rahm,
Please please do not promote one more "boss" that never did the job in the first place. Help us!
New requirements for promotions:
* 1000 arrests
* at least 2 federal lawsuits
* at least 20 Cr's
* at least 15 years on PATROL
If you think this post is nuts you don't deserve your stripes.
Rahm is bullshitting. Much the same as he was when he said he'd look into the residency issue for us. He had no intention of lifting residency and he has no intention of cutting the number of alderman in half.
Rahm likes the media attention and if he can put the alderman back on their heels from the get-go he sees that as a bonus.
Yea alvarez is looking into police investigations and they put officers in 311 for taunting. I heard that k-3rd graders are making aggravated funny faces in school think alvarez should look into this whaaaaaaaaaaaa yep just as stupid
Great Idea!
If I wanted the cliff notes as to what the REAL problems were in the CPD, I would go on over to SCC and scroll down and read in the right hand column, the following. Now, to be fair, some of this MAY need to be updated to encompass the disastrous J-Fled experiment, but its a pretty solid jumping off point.

According to tribune and Suntimes gun teams disbanded. So patrol gets only 70 more people. Big deal. And tact has to wear uniforms. More smoke and mirrors. Msf and tru unchanged.
Was at a large school meeting not too long ago and brought up the same thing. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was behind it.
There is not a doubt in my mind that the citizens of Chicago would be behind this 100%.
Rahm may only be here a term or two before he moves on to bigger things, but he will leave a bigger and more important mark than a few flower pots and a metal bean.
What's the deal with that petition? Can't we start a new drive to cut the number of alderman?
you may actually need them, but they live and act as if they are royalty...they should defiantly have their expense accounts looked at ,along with their staff...who is really needed..and who is just a political hack.
Arrest and inventory system down last night again. we were sitting around in the station for hours waiting. We are not even busy yet.
When are they going to wise up and get rid of this joke Lewin or at least go back to paper. What's going to happen this summer. This junk is messed up every week now.
Yeah, he'll "consider" reducing the aldermen by half. Just like he "considered" lifting residency for city employees. What a joke.
He says one thing. 2 weeks later, he says something else. His words mean nothing!
All for show. Never plans to carry it to fruition. Just good headlines--like he's a reformer or something.
Yawn.
Nobody reads the blog, remember?
You're "insignificant."
EVERYBODY reads SCC.
Wondered when YOUR suggestion would surface from his lips. Kind of like in Broadcast News- "I say it here, it comes out there".
A few less dog and ponies would be refreshing as a Chicago day in spring. Assuming the remaining would actually work for their supper? Assuming there'd be no aldercreature smoke&mirrors counter-attack on cops.
SCC- Rahm? What happened to "El Ballerino"?
WGN did a poll last night asking if the number of alderman should be reduced. 89% Yes, 11% No.
Supt. Seiser has a great ring to it, dont-cha-think?
no matter who it is he will place his puppets into place. many rumors are going about but i say we wait and see what he does. i hope chicago doesn't turn into a detroit.
Curiouser and curiouser....what will we hear next?
Newly minted dist cmdr seen out and about in his city - gassed car doing some personal errands. Don't think it's on city time on a weekend day wearing sweats. These lateral changes really send a message to the troops: same 'ol shit, different day.
Shout out to the sup or anyone else in command: if they were that arrogant in one exempt position scamming, they will continue to be arrogant no matter where you switch 'em. Start dumping them down to service rank and show that you mean biz. If an inspector found a blue shirt running around in a company car doing personal biz, esp. on a day off, it would be suspension and call back, IMMEDIATELY. Stay tuned....those little homing devices, i.e., GPS really work.
It woud be unfair to cut the city council in half! It's members have no marketable skills and will just add to the umemployment rolls. It is already difficult enough for the unqualified, uneducated, semi illeterate, morally challenged to get employment. Have a heart!
did u hear the morons on the news say cutting 25 alderman would save the city 20,000,000? Typical lies, each alderman gets a million a year to run their offices, plus salaries, stipends for being on good committees, etc.. The number is probably closer to 50,000,000.
Mr. Mayor consider this:
allow alderman to be investigated for wrongdoing and corruption by the IG. They took it upon themselves by unaminous vote to be exclusively "excluded" from any and all investigations by local and state gov., only FEDS, and we know the FEDS pick and choose who they investigate and arrest.
89% of the people says a lot. Also, I agree with the thread re gold brain pensions....they are bleeding us dry, and are a part of the clouted "merit" system. Give them a stipend for their exempt position and pay the pension at their service level....most would be lt or cpt. That's the best advise yet.
Why in the fuck do you need an alderperson anyway? If I have a problem I solve by myself. If it's a city problem call 311. I have yet to see an alderperson roll you their sleeves and do any type of work.
Maybe its a good time to refloat that petition again?

This guy did nothing for the six corners district his entire aldermanic career....it is virtually a ghost town filled with ma and pa shops that open and then close. Sears is to be the anchor store and this is filled with every non-english speaking person on the NW side. The streets are filled with potholes and there is virtually no development...look at Lincoln Square and it's development, look at NW Hwy and the Edison park area with all the restaurants and thriving businesses. Our ward, nothing. It's pathetic.
They got this guy Arena running with the SEIC secretly backing him(service workers's union - hotels, etc) sending tons of propaganda mail everyday doing their best to tout Arena and doing the negative ad campaing against Garrido. These are the SAME people who touted "Marina Paz-Huppert"... a woman with no real government experience, born in Mexico, lived in Berwyn and miraculously appears in the 45th ward as a contender for alderman. I guess people can come in to the ward, rent an apartment and say they want to be your leader....they have no clue what the real issues in the ward have been over the years, but when you have Levar backing you and some money backing you, you can do and say whatever you want.... now Arena is doing the same.

Thanks.
Now that I know where the bar is I can comfortably remain well below it. I never want a promotion from this police department. Really, I have the last honorable job on the CPD, Beat Cop.
I never would soil myself by going for or accepting a promotion.
Why would I want to join a group of individuals that I, and many others, have so little respect for and hold in so much contempt?
Well, I wouldn't and I won't.
-KMA
It will never happen, this city is way too corrupt for reform. See how quick the race card will come out, they care nothing about the citizens of Chicago or how much taxes we pay, it's all about me. Why bring it up when we all know that nothing will happen, business as usual. We have nothing move along now
Twenty-five? I would be satisfied with a perfect 10. Or even a just an average 10. Can't find even 10 average ones now among the 50 we already have.
Asking alderman if they want to give up their power and their positions is probably not going to get any favorable responses.
Then let the PEOPLE OF CHICaGO DECIDE!!! We dont need anymore than 8 Alderman! And the 8 can work fulltime as well!
Supt. Seiser has a great ring to it, dont-cha-think?

Mr. Emanuel you are spot on about reducing the size of the City Coucil. However, if the boundreis of our police districts are going to be reduced as well, there should be only one Alderman per police district. If six districts are combined to form three districts, that would leave 22 districts. Ergo, 22 Alderman to compliment the districts. Not only would this save millions of dollars it would also ensure a cohesive use of the district's resources, which in turn could be focused on the district's most serious issues. Furthermore, in reference to the pension fund, no sworn member caused the current shortfall of funds. That blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the current Mayor. Please do not let your administration forget this. It is not too late to work out soloutions to ensure our pension fund regains health and is viable well into the 21st Century and beyond. This involves the City paying their fair share. Remember, this is a commitment the city made to all sworn members when they were hired. In addition, officer safety, requires the city to bring police staffing up to our full budgeted strength. This needs to be accomplished ASAP. We do not want to have another year of attending so many Honors funerals. Personnally, I do not want any other sworn member's star going into the star case. Officers please use your witts, back each other up and stay safe. Retired 30.5 years of service.
the feds will save on wiretaps alone
DO IT RAHM!!! Get rid of half of the aldermen and make the city of Chicago proud!!!
Exempts dont need cars anymore. They all have nice spots at their unit of assignments....drive your own cars. Paint them and deck out as beat cars or give them to tact. Supt. is about the only one I can see having his own car.

Dear Rahm, When you feel compelled to comment on the interim superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, please remember his name is pronounced "Hill - ard", not "Hill-YARD".
Someone please tell Hillard to shave the goatee. We critized Weis for wearing the uniform, yet Hillard gets a pass on uniform standards.

Run your numbers again. If they cut the number of aldermen, they don't (and shouldn't) cut the money allotted to improve the neighborhoods.
So, one alderman instead of two, but bigger wards. Bigger wards= more improvements, requiring more cash. One million per small ward will become two million per large ward.
So, what you're saving is one alderman's salary, staffing, office costs. Not an insignificant amount, but not the amount you're thinking.
captain is an appointed rank so it would make sense captains receive a stipened pay above lt and also be required to retire at lt salary pension
Rahm reads the blog because he's much smarter than that dunce Daley. Rahm is actually capable of running a City correctly, if he chooses to do so.
Why in the fuck do you need an alderperson anyway? If I have a problem I solve by myself. If it's a city problem call 311. I have yet to see an alderperson roll you their sleeves and do any type of work.
3/26/2011 11:35:00 AM
Exactly. I made this statement on here many months ago stating we do not need any alderman. What do they really do and what are they really needed for?(Nothing) Of course some aldermans suck boy tried to defend the purpose of an alderman. The city (whatever is left of it) would run the same or better and we would save millions if we had zero. Ok Mr. Alderman please reply and defend why you are needed.(Especially you Zalewski)
Mr Mayor elect if you truly read this blog then consider this. If want to bring our morale back up then please discontinue the in car camera usage. They are brohoken all the time anyway. Save us some money and let us go back to Crown Vics as well.
Remapping the wards would cut the number of black alderman quite a bit. Big reason it won't happen.
Clear system down again, well that;s no surprise from the POS Lewin, who thinks he knows everything and talks down to everyone, he has no self esteem, ever see him address a group or go one on one with someone, this goof does not even look at you,He is now at OEMCand is somewhat safe because he is there with the rest of the electronic goofs, like the Capt that works for him, another person who left his personality in the delivy room when he was born. God help Us All.
Anyone else see the 23rd ward alderman driving around in his brand new Acura? Looks like a 40,000+ car which I bet was a gift to himself courtesy of you know who. Thats right! The dumb ass tax payers who voted for him. Congratulations alderman zalewski you fooled them again.
How nice it would be to see 25 wards vanish. One can only dream.
I agree with one of the other Anonymous--he won't do it.
If he did take it on, he would eliminate the Aldermen who are actually working, coming up with new ideas, voting aginst the same old-same old baloney of the city, and voting against him.
Plus, how is he going to get a majority of them to vote for it?
It is up to the citizens to take care of this issue.
How about ZERO alderman? They have been obsolete and unneccessary for over 20 years, if they all disappeared tomorrow nothing would change but the city would have less ghosts on the payroll. Nothing but good could come from reducing or eliminating alderthings.
"We don't need an alderman in my neighborhood, Clearing. Please note the extremely poor public transit, all the boarded up businesses, etc"

Clearing, named after the huge Belt Railway of Chicago yards, once such a mighty manufacturing area.
"De-industrialization" -- as though the creation of wealth were an evil...
I know what we'll do! We'll build condominiums!
*
He wont cut the aldermen, they have been a pain that wont go away for a long time now, too much politics involved when dealing with the overpaid do nothing professional police haters. Off topic, looks like msf and tru survived the cut
Hi Rahm.
If Rahm want's to save money, and show the honest tax paying citizens of the city the he is serious, then this is a solid move. Otherwise it's the same old game that has always been played.
"Malztov!"
You know, seriously, what do aldermen do? I've lived in this city since '81 and I have never ONCE called an alderman.
Another post said it succintly--what can't be handled by 311?
Seriously, what do they do? I've never heard of them holding community meetings or anything.
Sounds like they get elected to spend money is all.
A few years ago they installed 3, count 'em 3, speed bumps in my alley, which is a t-alley and my block is 7 houses long.
One of the bumps is right behind my house--all that does is give people a better chance to look into my yard as they go over it.
I talked to my neighbors, and not ONE of them requested it. Where did they come from, and why were they put there? I live on beat 1613, the slowest beat in the city.
Not to mention, a couple of the bolts popped out and scraped the undercarriage of your car...you had to drive around it, till I'm sure, a neighbor ripped it out. Now they are buckling--but thank God, during the blizzard a snow plow took one out!

Hell no. That camera has saved me several times from BS beefs and prevents others. And I love the Tahoe, best police vehicle I ever drove. And the carbine, fits real nice between the seats.
The biggest problem is with the automated case reporting and keeping that computer on-line. iPads would probably work better.

Correspondent Chris Johnson of the German news service Deutsche Welle reports from on-scene as near as he is allowed to the crippled Fukushima reactors that "the tremendous heat coming off the scene seems to be creating a sort of 'micro-climate' in the area that is warding off the snow that is falling on the rest of northern Japan. There is also a sort of pink glow in the sky over the reactors -- I've never seen anything like it before."
Not good...
Look at 20.3 over-the-air digital TV for "Newsline" and other NHK programs straight from Japan that cover this extensively, as well as news from Germany, France, Al Jazeera from Quatar (excellent) and others...

Now call and have the Me And My Brother From Poland Concrete Sawing Company, a sub-sub-sub-contractor for sure, come out and spend days cutting useless "drainage grooves" down the block, exactly the right size and depth for your kid's bike wheel to get caught in so he breaks his neck.
The City That Works.
Oh. If it's those molded rubber bumps -- the ones that really loosen your fillings -- they are just held down with two metal bolts.

Daley will be gone soon...
ROTI, would be a very smart choice.
Hey Rahm...are you reading this??? Listen up...your number one priority should be to take care of your soldiers...by the way...that's US. Keep us happy and don't step on your dick and we will make you look good. Fuck with us or our pension...well now...you might be out of your job along with any higher aspirations...Mr. Wanna Be President....we are smarter than you think.
Okay...which 25 of you non producing hacks are gonna get cut??? Put an aldercreature in each Police District...have them attend those lame ass CAPS meetings...have them stay there for 1 week a month and their constituants can voice their opinions about safety and the number of Officers assigned to their Districts. Like FORD said Safety and Quality are JOB #1.
Have at it...I'm glad Daley is gone...way over due...term limits would be better for the Mayor spot as well as aldercreatures...TERM LIMITS...prevent the attrocities that we suffer from now.
"Look at NW Hwy and the Edison Park area with all the restaurants and thriving businesses. Our ward, nothing. It's pathetic."
--3/26/2011 11:46:00 AM
Don't envy Ald. Brian "Another Tavern Brawl" Doherty's old NW Hwy; most of its manufacturing base is stripped out and gone, either standing empty or in various stages of failed/not-selling condominium projects. It is a disaster compared to 15 years ago.
"Restaurants" and those trendy little "niche" businesses, Dan's Doggie Day Care and Cheryl's Custom Candles and so forth, are about the first places people stop going when times get bad, and they are bad.
After Safco Corporation stopped making things and their factory at 6060 NW Hwy was torn down, the lot stood empty for YEARS -- trees starting to grow back -- until just recently Sam Zitella The Condo King somehow got financing to build a 'way-scaled-back gussied-up strip mall there. He owes Parkway Bank $3 million for the property, and is stuck with a lot more vacant lots...
If it wasn't Zitella, it was condo developer Dan Pontarelli, conveniently sitting on the "Norwood Park Chamber of Commerce and Industry."
What industry?
This was the bunch behind the multimillion-tax-dollar Norwood Park railroad station remodeling. A working printing company used to rent the extra station space; they were thrown out, and now a failed, closed restaurant occupies the station. Progress!
I know what you mean about Levar's fabulous Milwaukee Avenue -- brand-new trees and planters and cast-iron grilles and phony streetlights and banners, all in front of empty stores. "FOR LEASE," "FOR LEASE," "FOR LEASE." Any appearance of "improvement" is mostly tax money being thrown around, like the "facade rebate program."
The last figures I heard were that the average household lost 23% off its net worth between 2007 and 2009, and that 5% of the people control 64% of the total wealth.
We are in a really weird depression, with all kinds of unskilled people, many of whom speak no English, driving new cars. It's obvious that they're still keeping the credit bubble artificially inflated somehow...
Who does he think he is kidding?
The only reason the Antichrist Rahm is talking about doing anything as responsible as cutting the city council is because he is trying to put the fear of god into these aldermen. Now this is what could happen to you if you do not back my administration!
The lesson we need to learn here is that Rahm is the greatest and most devious politician since Bill Clinton. And soon, this massive intellect and it's sence of realpolitick will be unleashed on the department and the citizens of Chicago, who will be stuck paying for all the programs in the precents that voted for Rahm.
What do you say that the Chicago Police department all band together to get the reduction of the city council on the ballot as a binding referendum?
Or else?
Fitting revenge for our last contract, eh!!
requirements for promotions:

You don't need alderthings, all you need is a "reverund" to get things done, at least merit promotions anyway.
If the amount of Police and Fire Personnel can be cut , then we certainly can do without so many useless Aldermen.

"Rahm Reads the Blog?"
Please...
Every toothlees, decaying alive, reeking and leaking from every orfice political and media whore and EVERY FEDERAL INVESTIGATIVE ENTITY reads this blog!
They don't give a flying fuck about the Police or any of our concerns but you can "swear on their daddy's ass" that these rotten pricks log in EVERY FUCKIN' DAY!
"We really don't give a shit but where ARE the Police? What are they doing? What are they thinking? Is the public starting to pay REAL attention to what those brutal, heavy-fisted out of control, too old and too suspicious cops are saying about us? Is our campaign to separate The Police from public goodwill still effective?"
They're AFRAID SCC!
They're afraid that the upright citizens and The Police are going to come for them.
They're especially afraid The upright citizens and The Police are going to settle scores for what has been done to them.
Why do you think Daley Inc. has written the rules to preclude The Police from actually going after them with rightful malice?
Why do you think so much capitol was expended in attempting to ensure CPD was walked to a crawl?
Why so much improper outside influence/interference brought to bear upon CPD?
They're AFRAID OF "THE LAW" and all that it implies.
They so desperately wish the "PATROLMAN" would go away because that very title signifies a love of the law, an unquenchable thirst for justice and an implacable hatred for what the political and media whores have done to this city.
Oh hell yeah they want to keep our hands tied and keep us behind the eightball of negative public perception.
...It's in their best interest.
Have the people had enough?
Do the people want their "PATROLMEN" back?
Or have the people ceeded all to the political and media whores leaving the "PATROLMAN" to fight for his pride and his survival?
"Where are the Police? What are they doing? Who's watching what they're doing? They're out of control!"
Viva Hate... The "correction" WILL come eventually and it's going to be an imperial, crown wearing bitch when it bites, no matter how Daley Inc. tries to stack the deck to protect & themselves from punishment.
Never forget what they've done to us, and the decent citizens of this city who realize though we're imperfect, we truly are the thin blue line.
Stay safe brothers and sisters... It's open season on the "PATROLMEN."
Stay safe, stay sharp. Keep it professional and maintain a killing mindset on these streets... Let that other fool get laid the fuck out. The "PATROLMEN" go home safe and sound whether the whores like it or not...

I agree. Everytime I look at his goatee, I think Grady from Sanford and Son is running the show. That old fish eyed fool, please shave it off Grady.
I'll believe it when I see it. If Rahm is really serious about cutting the number, he should ask a certain alderman as to why he has his office in Summit or would that technically be Argo?
Rahm was roundly endorsed by the 36th ward organization while running for congress and mayor. Who runs that organization ? If anyone thinks he will do anything for the police, I think you are mistaken.

RIP Fond du Lac Police Officer Craig Birkholz
3/26/2011 11:46:00 AM
John Arena did a lot for Six Corners. He ran out Chipolte, because they use too much rice in their burritos; he ran out FedEx because he didn't like their clientele; and his doe eyed wife told me that the Dunkin Donuts didn't get a drive through because "the children might be hurt going to school." Arena cost the owner of the Dunkin Donuts about $12,000.00. He didn't like the plan for Steve's Pizza as well and the owner lost his funding at the beginning of the recession. So John Arena has done a lot for Six Corners, he ran out a lot of legitimate businesses during a severe economic downturn with the resulting loss in tax revenue and employment opportunities for residents.
Rumor has it that Marina Pat's Puppet, who told 45th Ward residents two months ago that she wanted to have all her babies and raise them in the 45th Ward, has made a beeline back to the suburbs. Ring-a-dina......there goes Marina.
The SEIU mailers attacking CPD Lt. John Garrido are reprehensible. Union PAC money attacking the only union member in the race. I'm supporting John Garrido and have voted for him already. It would be great to see an outpouring of support from Chicago's finest in the field for the final weekend of the election. Information for the campaign can be found at www.johngarrido.com
So the Rahminator is calling for a reduction of the City Counsel to 25?? He is doing it as an economy move??
BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is all about power and control and don't be soft enough to think otherwise.
Little King Richie could control 50 alderman. To get one's way one needs to control 25 (Mayor gets tie-breaker)
But if you cut the Counsel to 25, Rahm only needs to own and control 12.
That's where the economy comes in.
A smaller city counsel is easier to control.
But it will never happen.
No legislative body is going to vote to reduce its numbers.
The ward redistricting would be a HUGE legal fight, with the minorities (everyone except the white people) claiming discrimination and disenfranchisement.
Makes nice theater, tho...
We don't need an alderman in my neighborhood, Clearing. Please note the extremely poor public transit, all the boarded up businesses, etc
3/26/2011 12:23:00 AM
Hey leomemorial, while I do agree with you that ald. zalewski is about as worthless as they come let's keep the public transportation system poor and out of clear/ridge. Public transportation brings in public nuisances. Oh and to all the cops/firemen reading this blog who voted for this clown, I don't want to hear you bitch and moan in 2yrs when he does what he was planning to do. Good luck to all of you.

Hey, lighten up and cut the Old Man some slack. He deserves the respect of an elder; something sadly lacking in our society now.
Would you rather have clean shaven rock jawed Jody back.
("Old Man", in this case is a term of respect.)
what about 4 aldermen
N
E
S
W
the ward bosses do all the work anyway so who needs em?

Now call and have the Me And My Brother From Poland Concrete Sawing Company, a sub-sub-sub-contractor for sure, come out and spend days cutting useless "drainage grooves" down the block, exactly the right size and depth for your kid's bike wheel to get caught in so he breaks his neck.
The City That Works.
Oh. If it's those molded rubber bumps -- the ones that really loosen your fillings -- they are just held down with two metal bolts.
Just sayin'...
Daley will be gone soon...

SPEED BUMPS do a lot more than shake up you dental work.
They damage your vehicles in subtle ways no matter how slow you hit them. Electrical, fuel and exhaust connections will slowly work loose. Welded joints will be stressed, heater cores will be jolted and leak. Get rid of the damn things, they just make money for those contractors, and auto mechanics.
Rahm was elected by the grace of the Obamacrats. Do you think the white aldermemn in the areas where city employees live with be ones who survive the cut.
We might end up loosing on this because we don't vote. We pay takes up the ying-yang but we don't vote.
I didn't vote for Rahm.
Did you read that, rahmulan worker?
Now kiss my ass before you go get your shine box.

requirements for promotions:
* 1000 arrests
* at least 2 federal lawsuits
* at least 20 Cr's
* at least 15 years on PATROL
I meet this requirement.
024 days
This is something to strive for? WTF? Don't you people get it? None of the above will get you a promotion or a bonus. It will only get you in a pickle, where you will be paying punitive damages in God knows what amount.
Do your 8. Don't be a supercop--truly, nobody gives a rat's ass!

What do you say that the Chicago Police department all band together to get the reduction of the city council on the ballot as a binding referendum?
Or else?
Fitting revenge for our last contract, eh!!
3/26/2011 07:50:00 PM
You could not get two PO's to agree on anything. Look at the last election results. City employees did not vote. All talk and no action. How many PO's are not even registered to vote? South side wrads and in the loop had heavy turnouts but in wards with city employees? Poor turnout on election day. Apathy.

The CPD bosses should contract a private industry IT consulant for 1 one day. Do not use any of Daley's hack contractors that we currently use or JL and B Goldbricks company.
It would only take 1 day for them to come to the conclusion that JL has destroyed CPD's IT and the bandaids are falling off.
Even with the several million dollar budget they have, name one thing that he is responsible for that actually functions correctly.
"I know what you mean about Levar's fabulous Milwaukee Avenue -- brand-new trees and planters and cast-iron grilles and phony streetlights and banners, all in front of empty stores."
Don't be a hater and pick on Fat Pat. I see him patronizing those last remaining Milwaukee Avenue restaurants. Not sure if he pays though.

Please tell Matt T to stop thinking he is some military leader hero. Mr.SOS The guy never deployed and takes other Po's ideas and puts his name on them. He did that with the Supervisor's Guide. It was Written by a PO in 017.
