Ald. Jason Ervin (28th) said the ordinance would bar those convicted of prostitution-related offenses from public parks and walkways in the zones. The police superintendent would designate the zones with input from elected officials and community groups.

The anti-gang prohibition had to be rewritten a number of times and is an unwieldy tool at best, with announcements being made, contact cards, time limits, etc. The intent was to deny the gangs the ability to "stake out" territories by representing on street corners.
The trouble with prostitution is that the whores aren't really establishing territory and performing in full view of the public as the gangsters are. They advertise in public and perform in semi-private. Besides, there are already numerous laws on the books about soliciting rides on the public way, indecent exposure, etc. This would be overkill, not to mention constitutionally questionable by denying people the ability to walk on public streets - the gang hots spots are fixed locations representing territory. Actually this can work quite well and we did it some 20 yrs ago in Champaign and it solved our "problem". When the suspect gets probation as part of the sentence, part of the probation is that they are no longer allowed in the area that they were arrested in.. and it can be a wide area. So, next time we saw them in the area, we arrested them on probation violations and the problem was solved. Of course we knew each suspect and their court dispo, so that might not work for you guys...

Keep criticizing others oh great one... #1) First paragraph you might want to put "how" in you sentence so it reads Some of the grammar, spelling, syntax, etc makes me really wonder "how" some of my fellow officers make it through the day writing reports. #2) It is spelled Superintendent as in ent not ant. I guess you are not in the running for that spot. Then again maybe you are. This is not elementary school. Don't correct others when you fuck up yourself!!!

OT. SCC are you aware? IPRA today requested and obtained an arrest warrant for a CPD SGT. for allegedly striking someone. The member was arrested and charged for an on duty incident. He is charged with Aggravated Battery AND Official Misconduct. Is this where we are now, CR#'s turn in to arrest warrants. Why the grandstanding on IPRA's part. Would this member have just not responded to a call to come in to the station. Would an ASA give any one of us a warrant without exhausting all attempts at an arrest first? IPRA is now clear cut the enemy. Know your contract and invoke it when you do or don't speak to them. Anyone else can be next. Be safe and God Bless.

In private, Vance Henry maligns the police at every opportunity. Mr. Bow Tie is a true piece of shit. He's a sleeper cell within our own organization and rmd put him there.
With all of the whores at 35th street they would have to shut down headquarters!
"Ho free zones" in parts of the city?? Not like the prostitutes would just move their business to another part of the city - duh.
There are so many prostitutes they will have to create different categories.

Sickening that any time whatsoever is wasted on prostitution, other than the vice unit.....and I'd really be interested in knowing what effect vice has on this city. How many agg. batts and murders are related to some crackhead felating some poor schmuck for $10??
Put our money to good use and come up with a constructive plan to combat this wilding bullshit downtown. I mean how were there no arrests made at the mcdonalds incident?? Anyone heard of mob action??
