The meaning of "felony" today

Unsupervised children at park led to man’s arrest

Mar 26, 2011

"(VALPARAISO, Ind.) A man was arrested for felony neglect after he fell asleep while he was supposed to be watching his girlfriend’s children.

"Charles Roop, 32, of Valparaiso, Ind., was arrested for felony neglect of a dependent after he fell asleep in his vehicle while he was supposed to be supervising his girlfriend’s children at Butterfly Meadow Park, at 3210 Campbell St.

"Another parent called police when she brought her children to the playground and saw the 6- and 3-year-old children playing unsupervised from around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday until she left at about 3:20 p.m.

"Roop told police he had been sitting in his vehicle while working on paperwork and admitted dozing off, but he said he did not believe he could have been asleep for more than 10 minutes."

Anyone hear Jay Levine's comments about mayor Daley last night. Jay was referring to Daley's ties to China and how an "ambassadorship" might be in his future. This was quickly put to rest in Jay's mind because....and get this...Daley has only lived on a Mayor's salary, and it's "obvious" his family hasn't gotten rich from public service. He thinks Daley is gonna go make a truck load of money now....WOW!!!

40 apply to be Chicago’s top cop
BY FRANK MAIN Staff Reporter/fmain@suntimes.com Apr 12, 2011 4:25PM
More than 40 people have applied to become Chicago’s next top cop, officials said Tuesday.

The Chicago Police Board will interview the candidates for Chicago police superintendent and present three finalists to Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel, who takes office May 16.

Many of the candidates are members of the Chicago Police Department.

“Of the external candidates, many are current or former leaders of large organizations,” said Demetrius Carney, president of the Chicago Police Board.

The deadline for filing applications was Monday. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey, a former Chicago deputy superintendent, was considered a front-runner. But last week he announced he was not leaving Philadelphia. Sources said Emanuel balked at Ramsey’s request of about $400,000 a year in compensation for the Chicago job.

It's not the cashier who is responsible, since the register will pick up on any items that are not covered by the LINK card. Also LINK cards have a maximum purchase on them , depending on dependants. The cashier , however, can ask for a supervisor if they believe the card is not being used properly. (which is 98% of the time). You're correct though, it's nearly impossible to prevent and definitely should not be the responsibility of a cashier, earning minimum wage. It's the system that's at fault and the agency is aware of these problems but refuse to do anything to prevent it (we all know why).

The Culture Of Death

WGN-TV and WBBM radio both reporting five to six people shot area of 79th and Escanaba. One man reportedly shot in head, 8-year-old boy shot in ankle, another child shot -- these were apparently walking past a "memorial gathering" for a previous gang shooting when the gang drove by and sprayed the gathering in an empty parking lot, also strking the man and two children who were crossing the street nearby.

I couldn't even call it warm out there.

Yesterday, the same. Tomorrow, the same.

The LINK system is a broken system wrought with fraud. Personally, I never saw anyone pay for goods with a LINK card at Sams or Costco, but nothing surprises me. These guys were obviously buying bulk for their mom and pop store (that no doubt accepts the LINK card), but I never heard of using the LINK for was is essentially wholesale goods that will be resold for profit. These bulk clubs should not allow the using of LINK cards for this purpose. I would have made note of the veh lic plate and report to the dept. of agrilculture who is supposed to run this hap-hazard free food scam funded by the taxpayers. Awful.

GOOD. It's about time the Cardinal grew a pair. Pfleger has been as out of line as you can be for thirty years or so.

He doesn't have an age, does he? You notice that? It's the mark of a psychopath. They act grown up when they're kids, and act like children when they grow up. Always out of sync. He's still a squeaky-voiced, shiny-faced, hair-back-with-Vitalis altar boy.

Heard his complaints on the radio today -- what a whiny, miserable, self-important little f__k. Talk about "high maintenance." How anyone could go week after week after week to subject themselves to this is anyone's guess.

The guy's an embarassment.

OT -- LINK abuse --

If you see a store engaging in what seems to be improper use of the cards, what do YOU think you should do? Go to the source.

It took me five seconds to find the appropriate agency.

http://www.dhs.state.il.us/page

SNAP or Link Card

Potential fraud on the part of clients or retailers, contact the Illinois Link Help Line at:

1-800-843-6154

You're right, it's not intended for store owners to stock up for resale. That doesn't sound right at all. That Sam's is a pay-for-membership deal.

Call it in, they'll check it out. They can review all the purchases made on any card.

Down here in reality, a single person only gets $50 per week. I help an elderly relative with a card with grocery shopping, and tonight's trip for fruit juice, yogurt, bread, and noodles ate up close to $30 right there. I am a real good shopper, I stay out of the snack food and prepared/frozen food aisles, try to buy healthy, simple things, and chase the sales. The toothpaste and band-aids they needed are not covered, so I paid cash for that -- the lower-priced store brands, all for about $5.50.

You can get through the month and eat OK, nothing fancy, if you are thoughtful and know how to budget and can plan a menu and know how to cook, not just tear a bag open.

We are very grateful for the help; times are difficult and the card is a Godsend, a lifeline, and I take care of it. The original card still works because I do not use it for a hair ornament, windshield scraper, toothpick or cocaine liner-upper, and I do not lose card after card.

I actually got a good-record letter from the state saying that "your account has been placed in a category requiring less supervision" because they never hear from me with problems.

I always know the balance -- I keep the last receipt with the card -- and I do not waste other people's time filling up the belt and then being told I only have $1.37 left. Only fools do that.

Now if you want to see a REAL PROBLEM, here --

Why Are the Media Ignoring Plans By George Soros to Remake the Entire Global Economy?

By Dan Gainor

Published March 23, 2011 FoxNews.com

"Two years ago, George Soros said he wanted to reorganize the entire global economic system. In two short weeks, he is going to start – and no one seems to have noticed.

"On April 8, a group he’s funded with $50 million is holding a major economic conference and Soros’s goal for such an event is to “establish new international rules” and “reform the currency system.” It’s all according to a plan laid out in a Nov. 4, 2009, Soros op-ed calling for “a grand bargain that rearranges the entire financial order.”

"The event is bringing together “more than 200 academic, business and government policy thought leaders” to repeat the famed 1944 Bretton Woods gathering that helped create the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. Soros wants a new “multilateral system,” or an economic system where America isn’t so dominant.

"More than two-thirds of the slated speakers have direct ties to Soros. The billionaire who thinks “the main enemy of the open society, I believe, is no longer the communist but the capitalist threat” is taking no chances..."

Every time there's a police shooting in which the officers are not hurt means officers lives were saved. Why don't they ever talk about the countless officers lives who are saved in these shootings?

They only make it look like we're overzealous in these shootings but in fact these cops are saving lives.
