Number 8 Seed

The Blackhawks capped a shaky season by backing into the playoffs, thanks to a Minnesota team that won't even be there:
  • Years from now, someone will look at the 2010-11 standings and see that the Blackhawks finished in eighth place in the Western Conference and secured a postseason berth with 97 points.

What those numbers won't reveal is the heart-thumping, roller-coaster ride the Stanley Cup champions took to reach the playoffs and a first-round meeting with the Canucks.

The Hawks took the difficult path after failing to control their destiny and falling to the Red Wings 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at the United Center. A stunned, disconsolate group in the dressing room could only hope the Wild — a team playing out the string of a disappointing season — could somehow rise up to defeat the hard-charging Stars later that night in Minnesota.
All Minnesota drivers get a play this week. Good luck Blackhawks.

Did anyone hear about the on duty p.o. who was arrested on orders of Deputy Supt. D. Kirby for a DUI. The officer was never read his rights, arrested before field tests and breath test. Blew triple 000's. She still ordered him to be arrested. P.O. released without charging. Kirby to be named in a federal lawsuit for violating his rights.

the playoffs are like a brand new season--- the hawks will face a tough vancouver team who wants revenge--- the hawks seem to be able to score on luongo and get him rattled--- I predict the hawks in seven in a bloody battle which will leave them with nothing left in the tank for the second round...

Philadelphia made it to the playoffs last year by winning the last game of the season. They went to the Stanley Cup finals. Anything can happen, a hot goalie, a few lucky bounces, you never know. The main thing is the Blackhawks made it in.

The year they made the finals against Pittsburgh, they qualified the last game too. Also, the next year (minnesota north stars) did the same thing. Aside from them, more than a few teams have barely qualified to make a run all the way to the Cup. This year will be no different.

I gave a guy with MN plates and an MN DL a pass for the very same reason last night.

I just hope they at least make it a respectable showing in the playoffs.

Those MN Wild uniforms are just hideous, they need a re-do before next year.

I must admit to being a fair weather fan Chicago sports fan. I LOVE football but have stopped attending live sporting events (unless assigned to them). I'd rather relax at home and watch on TV.

Unfortunately, I don't see the beloved Blackhawks getting past the 1st round of the playoffs. Vancouver wants to beat us BADLY after the boys eliminated them for the last two years.

The Cubs seem to be the old Cubs that we can count on to be VERY average and UNspectacular.

The Sox will kick some ass this year and Adam Dunn will factor in BIG TIME!

I think the Bulls are the ones to beat in the NBA. Who knows basketball better than MJ, and he said he wouldn't be surprised if the Bulls, built around D Rose, could win ANOTHER 6 NBA Championships!

Rose SHOULD BE the MVP this year, the youngest MVP in the HISTORY of the league. All of this is also happening much sooner than when MJ was here. Get ready for a series of YOUR OWN Bulls riots my little pretty hair gels!

I just wish everyone would stop saying the Hawks backed into playoffs. They had more points then the stars, period. They beat them in points. Its not liked they were tied and got in because the stars lost to the wild. They had two more points and two more wins then the Stars! Now lets kick some canucks ass. Just get in Luongo's head!

Who has more pressure? The defending Cup champs or the President's Cup winners who represent the rabid fans of Canada looking to do something they haven't been able to do in two previous years. And that is knock the Hawks out of the playoffs. Somebody needs to step up for the Hawks to bother Luongo the way that Buff did for the two years. Wish they would call up Kyle Beach to goon it up a little.

The Wild gave us a last chance.

Now if we can only step it up a notch and take advantage of the opportunity.

Next game is Wed's right?

There's a lot more to that story than meets the eye. That p.o. was not without fault in that incident. His actions made it clear that he was looking to sue.

To 0856 in regards to the sox.
They won 90 games the following year. Tigers came out of nowhere and the twins had another great year. Think they had 96 wins. An the tigers won the pennant thy year too. Stop being a knowledgeless cub fan

The Hawks have a legitimate shot to advance in the playoffs. I think that for a #1 seed, Vancouver is way overrated.

Anaheim is the dark horse, I think the Hawks would have a tougher time playing them.
