Officer Injured
- A Chicago man dragged a policeman a few feet with his pickup truck on the Far South Side this week, breaking the officer’s elbow, prosecutors said in court today.
Booker T. Davis, 29, is charged with aggravated battery of a police officer and criminal trespassing. Cook County Judge Adam D. Bourgeois Jr. ordered him held in lieu of $50,000 bond Saturday, and he will have home electronic monitoring privileges if he is released.
“You can’t fight the police,” Bourgeois said.
Nice to hear someone say that "You can't fight the police."
- The incident started about 8 p.m. Thursday when Davis refused to move his pick-up truck from the entrance to the car wash at a gas station in the 100 block of East 95th Street in the Roseland neighborhood, according to a police report.
When Davis didn’t obey a gas station employee’s orders, a Chicago police officer told him he was under arrest and reached into the truck and tried to pull the keys from the ignition, police said.
Davis threw the truck into reverse and the officer was dragged about 10 feet before the truck was stopped and Davis was arrested, police said.
Gas him, taser him, whatever. But the minute your arm gets caught in the steering wheel or grabbed by someone intent on harm, you're just a mudflap on the side of a ton of automobile.
Best wishes to the officer on a quick recovery.

prayers to the officer that got hurt...bless u trying to take shit off of the street and make it safer for my family.
Been saying it forever, few young pups care to listen.
A running vehicle is just as dangerous than a loaded firearm. Please, no one underestimate them.
Eight hundred thousand years ago, an old-timer once told me something I always heeded; treat a shithead in a running vehicle about the same as you'd treat a shithead standing there with a samurai sword.
That vehicle can put you in a world of hurt and no matter how many movies you've watched, once they hit the gas and close the gap, there's very little you can do.
The true nastiness and danger of running vehicles in the hands of a person intent on using it to do harm is something that you don't fully 'get' until you experience it yourself or watch your partner get dragged away/run over/smashed into and hopefully survive.
Yes, it is nice to hear someone say that "You can't fight the police." Especially when uttered by the judge setting the bond that, in a perfect world, would likely keep this bastard in custody through the trial and sentencing phase.
Until...
This being Crook County and all, there's the very real chance that as time wears on, a persistent defense attorney, whether public defender or otherwise, will successfully petition for a reduction in bond.
Then...
there's no guarantee that the trial judge to which the case is assigned will follow the recommended sentencing guidelines or past precedent.
The savage named Booker T. Davis is purported to be a military veteran and medical student. If either or both are verified as fact, a lower bond is almost a certainty... after all, he isn't a copper that stepped on his dick.
Me personally? I'd rather be subpoenaed to court for the inevitable and spurious wrongful death suit filed by Asshole's "tight-knit" family as opposed to enduring a drawn-out criminal trial that'd in all likelihood conclude with probation. Killing the bastard unequivocally eliminates any threat of recidivism :-)
Best wishes to the injured officer. Here's to a thorough (but not too speedy) recovery. Roseland ain't going anywhere...enjoy your summer surrounded by family and friends.
There will be more Officers hurt by automobiles than guns. What don't people understand about that?
Light them up, go home in one piece to your family.
That is the best judge I ever had. He used to be at 51st, now at 26 cal.
Hey Officer>.....Civil Suit.....Take the shitheads money
The address is wrong. It happened at the Citgo, east of Stony Island. Feel better soon MM.

EErr? I had to scroll back up to check to see what County that guy worked for....
couldn't the Officer just do like
the Police on t-v draw his weapon,
point it at the vehicle and say,
" sir, you are under arrest please
step out of the vehicle with your
hands up. " Maybe it sounds hokey
but it would have been safer because these offenders don't believe that fatmeat is greasy and
will do just like that driver did
and attempt to drive off and elude
the Officer. I wish a speedy recovery to the Officer and that the driver of the truck would spend
some time in jail for attempting to
elude a Police Officer. Also, ,thank goodness the driver did not have a weapon lying on the
seat when the Officer approached.
It could have been much worse.
I feel bad for the copper that got hurt, but hopefully the rest of you will take heed and not stick your arm into a running car to try and shut off the ignition and/or remove the keys.
One moment of dumb like that can get you killed.
Glad he's ok. A guy hit me twice and tried to run me over, judge Vince Gaughan let him go on probation, apparently he does not agree
The judge is the best. He is a former Chicago police officer. He worked in VCD while going to law school
The judge's dad was a class act too.

Conversely, it could save many lives.

God save us from civilians who tell us how to be the police because they learned our job by watching tv!!!
Oh with the Monday Morning quarterbacking, STFU!
That judge is legit and one of the few good ones still left. Don't forget his name.
