Blanket CR?

Maybe someone in IAD can confirm or quash this one:
  • SCC...Im shocked you have no coverage regarding the 1350 CR #s that got pulled over coppers being nosey and looking up the arrest reports from the 023 guys...because THATS the problem!
We're assuming this has something to do with the reports making their way into the media's hands. This might be a good time to remind people to always log out of whatever system they're in after use and logging off entire computer when you walk away from it. Just about everything is traceable nowadays and often has your unique log-in attached to it.

That being said, we doubt IAD has the time or resources to investigate 1350 individual CR numbers for viewing a report written on Department computers. Unauthorized distribution? Sure. But reading it? Highly doubtful.

Since when are we not allowed to read computerized department reports? Is there an order that says this?

This will go away because some of the nosey ones are exempts and of course nothing will happen to them so ya might as well quash it. Unless IAD wants to just hammer the ones with no clout and give the exempts a play.

There are little buttons you can push to make a report 'eyes only' for a select group.

Unless that is done, there's no valid reason to tell a police officer they can't access a department report.

The blanket cr, if it was obtained at all, probably was done BEFORE it was determined who the probable leak was. The blanket number should now just be vacated.

It is unlikely that IAD has anywhere near the resources to investigate 1300+ CR#'s.

There may be a multitude of legit reasons.

The problem with so many people looking at the preliminary investigation is that those may be the same people that will judge tho officers' fate. Firing them become more difficult as they will be able to say that the case against them was pre-determined.

My in-box has more than enough cases to keep me occupied and I barely have interest in MY cases much less some one else's.

As for people that looked at the Lefkow case and had to leave paper: That was a Fed case. They don't want anyone looking in on THEIR cases. The Feds didn't even want to tell the Area Dicks what was going on.

Doubt this is going anywhere. You know damn well that among those 1350 some were accessed by those of rank, clouted ones etc.
and surely nothing will happen to them.

Move along nothing to see here.

You think that the LT's PC# was common knowledge (with his approval; not uncommon) among his officers and one of them obtained the reports signed on as him? No

The best part is that one of the people who looked this up without permission works for IAD, I wonder if she will also get spare or take a day like the rest. But who is the idiot who passed the information to the media, that's fucked up,that's a true rat undercover.

Just fill out a FOIA form.

Then the department has to honor the request under the U.S. Constitution, 1st Amendment.

The News Media does all of the time! That is how they get their info. If CPD don't honor they have lawyers running to court right away!

That is how stupid this is! If you do it right, CPD can't give you a CR number!

True, very true, but it's more like 3,000 between arrest reports and case report. Word is, that the e-mail sent out defining how you shouldn't access case reports for curiosity is the response to the CR.

Funny, as my sgt. was pulling it up, I was thinking, 'not a good idea'. But I'm sure sgts will not be held accountable.

Once again, the point is missed by some. As Police Officers you are entrusted with enormous responsibilities: the public trust, access to restricted information, the ability to restrict an individual’s freedom as well as the anointed right to take a person’s life in defense of another’s. Instead, negative comments and a general uproar if we feel denial of access to information we are entitled to.

However, the problem did not come from viewing a report, it was from people violating Department Orders and disseminating information to the press. It is reasons such as those that in a Department as large as ours so many are denied access to so much more information/resources afforded to your buddies who work for some of the neighboring municipalities.

A beef like that is so easilly answered. You are a police officer. You were acquainting yourself with what was reported in the papers as possible criminal activity. It's your duty to try to keep yourself informed regarding criminal matters.

-----Absolutely wrong. It was NOT a fed case. The Judge was not harmed therefore the Feds had no jurisdiction. It was a CPD case and the Sup INVITED the Feds in so we would have access to their resources. And it was the Feds who had no clue...especially on how to run a homicide investigation. They homed in on one suspect and set about trying to prove his and his organizations involvement. They insisted the dicks only investigate this suspect and the CPD command agreed and did not allow the dicks to conduct a complete investigation. It was only luck that the real offender was stopped in Wisconsin and committed suicide because he erroneously believed the jig was up.

IAD can go FUCK THEMSELVES. This report is on CHRIS which can be accessed by anyone, anytime within the department. Disseminating it to the media is a no-go and against departement guidelines. IAD blanket cr is meritless and I would grieve it if it comes down to getting disciplined.

How about “Nailing” some of the useless fucks, and dogasses that are out there stealing a paycheck for “Inattention to Duty” before one gets a number on your law school educated ass for incompetence.

Well, then you're one of the VERY FEW in IAD who have a J.D.

Which is another waste. If the Department is going to pay for law school, it should damned well make use of that resource.

With the exception of those working undercover, or pushing paper on 33 minute lunch and city sticker cases, that unit should be made up of lawyers, not people looking for a sweet hiding place, lots of time to shop online, short workdays, lunches on Taylor Street and a closet full of dry clean only designer wear.

TELL ME THOSE GOOFS DONT DROP DIMES TO SNEED OR OR THOSE OTHER TROLLS.
AND THEY RECEIVE BLACKBERRY UPDATES WITH NAMES AND BRIEF SUMMARIES.

AND THE LOVEY MEDIA DEPARTMENT?
YEP MORE LEAKS. YOU HAVE TO GIVE REPORTERS SOME INFO OR THEY WILL NOT HELP U WHEN U WANT UR BORING STUFF REPORTED.

I'm not sure how true it is, but seeing as though they are over 1350CR# dealing with the case in 023. I over heard at 35th st that IAD doesn't have the manpower to do all of the investigations for them so they are going to ask Anita Alverez if the CCSA office could do it for them. I hear that she has accepted to do it and be totally fair & impartial to the police on this matter.
