Wilding Coverage?
Two seemingly related incidents:
- Incident #1 - A man was stabbed and seriously injured on a Near North Side street this afternoon, authorities and a witness said.
Chicago Fire Department emergency crews were called to the intersection of Wabash and Chicago avenues just before 5 p.m. to treat a person stabbed, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Richard Rosado.
The person was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, said Rosado. - Incident #2 - A suspect was being questioned this morning after a group of at least six men beat a man and took his cellphone on the Near North Side.
The robbery took place about 8 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Wabash Street and Chicago Avenue, said Police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.
You know what would stop a lot of this nonsense? Concealed carry. We're just saying.

Conceal carry is the equalizer.
You know what else would stop this? A sensible redeployment of police officers.
There is no excuse that things like this happen in the downtown area. The leadership of the CPD is too politically correct and too cowardly to provide the appropriate number of officers (and yes, support them when they do their job) to the downtown area.
And before you jump all over me, I live in the far north side neighborhoods, but I recognize that we, as a city, need the downtown to be safe. That is where our tourism industry is centered, that is where the bulk of the money coming in is coming from.
I see a larger police presence in Rogers Park than I do in the downtown, and that is just stupid. And it isn't the fault of the officers on the beat - it is the failure of leadership.
Shootings at the Taste, people getting raped by tree branches, roving hordes of criminals wandering unchecked. Take a walk in the South Loop after dark and tell me you are proud of your city.
Screw the media, this is on the leadership of the CPD that is too scared to provide coverage to the downtown area out of fear that they will be accused of catering to wealthy and non-minority people. But the outcome is Chicago gets labelled an unsafe city where people can't walk the downtown without some PGM waste or a roving band of "wild" animals molesting them.
Whatever, noone - in or out of the department - cares, so why should I?

When Daley sputtered through that tirade about concealed carry ("Do you want half the people at a sporting event to have guns on them?"), I was shouting, "Hell, yes" at the television.
Isn't it just amazing that concealed carry hasn't resulted in mass warfare at sporting events in the other 48 states that have it?

Why is the media not interested in the thousands of strong arm robberies downtown? Does another person have to get killed before people are warned whats going on.
Where's Tact, Mass Transit and CTA special employment when you need them? Seems like most of this nonsense either originates or ends at the State/Chicago red line. I heard it was an old Sat guy who's now in 001 that recognized the plates and informed a P.O in 018 who drove that get away car in the stabbing. It's really getting out of hand over there. People need to get their shit together in 018 or its going to be a long summer over there.
The cellphone snatchings have gotten a lot more violent in the past couple of weeks. Its no longer groups of 2-3 doing the snatching and running but groups of 6-8 swarming on a victim, beating them and then taking what they want. They aren't even giving the victims a chance to "give it up" anymore.
On topic, a group of these thugs were caught in 001 the other day. This group also matched the clothing and physical descriptions of several strong arms that have occurred in 001 and 018 in the past few days but since they were juvies the dicks weren't interested and released them to their guardians without even investigating the other robberies. What's the point?
Don't forget the wilding on Michigan Ave. tonight, a large group bum-rushed the Columbian sports wear store and ran out with over $2,000 in merchandise...
Most of these shit-heads are from the southside. They ride the red line up north in packs and get off at chicago ave.
I heard the Chicago Lt's association has recently endorsed the concealed carry bill in the legislature. I am praying that it passes. I have a Glock 19 ready to go for the day it passes.

I was down on North Michigan this past Saturday with out of town friends.
Cops everywhere, so many they were tripping over each other. No animal in sight. It must have been their day off when this shit went on.
I have worked as a copper in a state that allows conceal carry, guess what? It works. I am all for it.....but in other states. Unfortunately the state of Chicago, is not ready for this. The court system in Chicago will muck this up. As it is the race card is pulled more than a link card on the west side. Can you imagine the first self defense shooting under conceal carry?I see the liberals attempting to botch it for law abiding citizens. I find it ironic that Shrillary Clinton has advocated arming the rebels in Libya. This means fully automatic assault rifles, machine guns, rpgs, and anti-tank weaponry

Is it because they know that the Second Amendment is what keeps us free to exercise our rights under the Constitution and all the other amendments? I would have LOVED to have had a weapon when my arm was grabbed by a drunk bum yesterday evening by LaSalle St. station and he wouldn't leave me the fuck alone. The CTA should stop giving away passes, school passes should have a time limit on them 7a-5p, no passes during the summer. No school after those hrs anyway so why should our youth have access to the free CTA. Also why does every homeless person have passes. Make them pay like everybody else and the CTA can start making money again.

What is with the constant yammering about charging people with a hate crime? Why would you ever choose to charge a robbery as a hate crime? You wouldn't, you just never read the statute and you think because "Hate Crime" sounds nifty and serious that it must be a more appropriate charge.
See where I come from when some jagoff does a robbery, he should be charged with.....robbery. That is a nice Class 2 Felony. I wouldn't, for instance, want to charge him with misdemeanor theft from person (not a forcible felony) and go for the sentence enhancement that Hate Crime gives to end up with a Class 4 felony. A class 4 felony that, ironically, is harder to prove and carries a much lighter sentence.
I get it, you think ASAs are stupid and noone knows the criminal code like you do, but stop it. Bitch and moan when we make a mistake, but don't blame ASAs for not undercharging robberies.

Simple, that permit means squat here. Most officers would just do a weapons turn in though if the person was legit. Kind of like same sex marriage is legal in some states but not recognized in others. When in Rome...
The problem with Hate Crimes is that they are state of mind crimes. Unless the offender makes some explicit hateful statement it is tough to prove.
And there are race politics involved in reporting hate crime incidents. If the crime is white offender on minority victim, if the victim feels it was a hate crime, you had better write it up that way and make all the proper notifications or you will be in trouble.
If the situation is reversed, even if the offender makes hate statements, the sergeant will tell you leave than out of the report.
Same thing with the ASA's.
That is why most cops hate the hate crime laws.

Easy there Clarence Darrow. I think the Officer is expressing his frustration with the hate crime law, since there seems to be no chance of charging an offender when the victim is white. Maybe there has been a case, but Eric holder doesn't think so.
I think most Coppers, and most of the taxpayers think the term "Hate Crime" is a bunch of nonsense.

Amen! Brother. All the hoopla for Hate Crimes on violent crimes is silly--leave it to the Silly Reverends. The point of charging a hate crime is to raise a misd. or a non-crime to felony. Hate crime is the most politically motivated and useless charge this side of barratry.
