Election News
Some good, some still waiting:
- Stone loses big - Ald. Bernard Stone, the second-longest-serving Chicago City Council member, conceded defeat tonight to challenger Debra Silverstein in the 50th Ward contest.
With 84 percent of precincts counted, Silverstein had 62 percent to 38 percent for Stone. - Police hater and drunk driver Dixon loses - In the West Side’s 24th Ward former alderman Michael Chandler ousted bitter rival and current alderman Sharon Denise Dixon. Chandler had a 60-40 lead with all precincts counted.
Chandler, who held the office for 12 years before Dixon defeated him in 2007, had called Dixon “the worst alderman in the history of Chicago.” - CFD's Sposato wins - Firefighter Nick Sposato, 52, a political neophyte, came out of nowhere Tuesday to knock off Ald. John Rice (36th).
With 100 percent of precincts reporting, the underfunded and unknown Sposato led Rice 56 percent to 44 percent - Garrido is behind by twenty-nine votes. We aren't sure if this total includes absentees and provisional ballots though. We aren't sure on that process, but that's close enough for the Machine to steal it for Arena.
An interesting finish.

John Garrido, Demand a recount!
LMAO, spaosato won. I waved, winked, and nodded to all the political goons outside the polling place. Well, looks like more than half of us did the same thing. Whatever happens now, everyone can at least get those g.d. signs off of the lawns.
Garrido is the machine. Ya' gotta look closer and see his relationships.
garrido loses, hilarious.i thought the fix was in.
What happened in 41??
"Stone loses big - Ald. Bernard Stone, the second-longest-serving Chicago City Council member, conceded defeat..."
Yeah and he was none too graceful about it, at least in the clip shown on CBS-TV.
He said he "felt sorry" for residents of the ward because he thought Silverstein wouldn't do a good job.
Very classy, Bernie. Good riddance to bad trash!
So if the vote holds in the 45th, we will be lead by a community organizer backed by the SEIU and HERE UNITE woo for 10 years has done absolutely nothing to promote business in the area he "community represented" sounds frighteningly familiar.
again Fireman stuck together and got it done, Police didnt..
Garrido don't cross rahm rule number 1 live and learn nice try though

Arena is a jackass and will drive the 45th ward into the ground. Absolutely sickening that John Garrido didn't have more support and workers in the final weeks of the campaign.
Stone conceiting was insulting and senile. Goofy old man wasn't elected by the sheeple?
Bernie Stone was good for one thing. He was always the "point" man when the City Council wanted a raise. He used to proclaim that a 4% raise for the Council would only amount to less than .01% of the City Budget. Farewell you jagoff.

Seriously?
I mean, who couldn't do a better than a guy who sleeps at his PART TIME job?
Arena led a negative campaign. Garrido held true to a gentleman's election. Shame on you 45 ward residents who didn't vote for John.
I had a long discussion with Arena in person and his answer to the budget deficit question was to rid the city of pensions and leave you in the hands of Social Security. He also said he would be for privatization for the money and use it as a stop gap measure until the economy returns. The scariest part was when I asked him where the majority of his campaign contribution had come from. He is part of the problem and not of the solution.
I will be leaving this city and state by the end of the year. Enjoy your win, I hope yo choke on it.

it don't look good in 41. Oconner is going to be one of rahms little sevants.

ditto. SEIU is a union that employs tons of undocumented workers. Our city continues to fall. Those who did not vote will be the first to complain on how their neighborhood is going to shit.
So is it O'Connor or Gavin in 41?

Bernie Stone can go find whatever crummy gin mill Burton Natarus is sponging his free drinks now and they can regale the folks with tall tales of their past grandeur.
Most ridiculous sight on election night: Roderick Sawyer on election night claiming a glorious victory for "the people" while flanked by Senator Roland "Tombstone" Burris. Roland was doing his best little chipmunk grin.
Maybe Roland can add Aldermanic Hanger-On to his resume.
I would just love to see Roland Burris on one of those pizza commercials answering the question "What do you want on YOUR tombstone?"
The machine's candidate in the 45th was Faz-Huppert who got her ass kicked in the first round. Would the machine take Arena over Garrido? Yes, because Arena is a dem and Garrido is a repub. Does that make Arena a machine guy? No.
I guess the people in the 45th have yet to come to their senses. 40% vacancy in six corners is what they want/.
Payback is a beeotch! I guess Bernie Stone and all of his (now unemployed) office workers can go choke on thos parking meter boxes!
Fat boy Rice from the 36th ward is gonna have to get a job. This prick was a precint captian when he was 18 given to him by his father. Then he was Bank's personal driver. What a fucking joke. Thank God the people in the 36th ward woke up and did not vote this criminal in office. I see this fat bastard in the neighborhood sometimes and I am disgusted by the sight of him. Can't wait to make fun of him next time I see him eating a hotdog.Hey Rice now go get me a drink you stuttering prick.
John garrido is the real deal. I wish him the best of luck. Super nice guy that goes out of his way to help someone out
You people talking shit about Garrido are idiots!
John ran an excellent campaign, and only fell short because of $250,000 in negative ads ran by SEIU on behalf of his opponent, a jobless liberal democrat who vowed to attack OUR pensions. John would have protected our pensions at all costs.
So all you haters can laugh all the way to the poorhouse when Rham and crew take a large chunk of our pension away in the blink of an eye.
GFY!
My thanks to the ignoramuses of Edison Park who elected saloon owner Mary O'Connor to alderman. I guess you were swayed by the SEIU (outfit) goons who were out hustling votes for her all day long. You deserve what you get, chumps.
Yeah, Sposato wins!!!!!!!!!
Jabba the hut is gone and his old machine goes with him. There is still hope for the good guys.
Garrido got robbed, I hope a recount makes it for him. Those bastard community organizers sure know how to steal an election.
Same as public housing creatures know how to sue in Federal courts.
It was so good to see Rice get it stuck in his fat a--. If you did any checking most of the claims on his literature were lies. He was taking credit for things that didn't even happen in his ward. Mr. John Rice, we are not the stupid people that you think we are. Go ahead and lie to us. We have the resources to get the true information. Now go wallow in the sh-t you were heaping throughout the campaign. Don't blame anyone but yourself. If you weren't such an arrogant pr--k you would have had a chance. GOOD JOB, Nick!
The communist SEIU has endorsed and paid money to many on the candidates. Can you imagine what kind of shape this city will be in come 2015. Glad I'll be gone.
Garrido is the machine. Ya' gotta look closer and see his relationships.

Enlighten us all with what you think you know.
WBBM reported the Bd of Elections issued a statement regarding Garrido/Arena, saying there were seventy-plus votes still not counted (mail in?) and the results are not official yet.
They said, once a winner is declared, either party has five days from the declaration date to request a recount.
Good luck, John Garrido.
"Ald. Bernard Stone, the second-longest-serving Chicago City Council member, conceded defeat tonight to challenger Debra Silverstein in the 50th Ward contest."
Rep. Ira Silverstein's daughter. This is funny. Stone crying crocodile tears on the radio today, he made Silverstein what he is today, did anything for him, now this treachery. Like a stab in my heart!
Stone publicly refusing to "lift a finger" to help Debra Silverstein get started. Privately, they'll all get together for lunch and have a good laugh.
I think there's still an "Elect Bernard Stone" wall sign -- painted up high where it survived -- on a building on Devon near California. Looks like it was put there about 1948...
Enough. It's not like this is going to make the slightest difference anyway. Be quiet and go.
GARRIDO!!! Dont give up. RECOUNT!
Charles Ramsey wisely opted out using $400K/annum as a pretext. Anyone who applies for top cop in Chicago should be committed to an insane asylum.
In 41 m.Gavin was down by 10%,ten days ago, once everbody found out what Oconnor was about, Gavin closed fast and fell short by 200+.The commies from the SEIU did 12 bullshit mailings to Gavins one.Oconnor was endorsed by the times and trib as well as the firemans union. The Police voted over 80% for Gavin and the CFD voted over 66% Gavin in spite of the fact that their union endorsed Oconnor. The president of the CFD unions wife was Oconnors campaign manager. Most of the CFD in 41 was pissed off, because they thought it was a conflict and they hate the fucking democrats like us.We now have a fucking liberal snake in 41,who hates the police is plant for the SEIU.At least Brian Doherty liked the Police even though he liked to fist fight and drink a little(or a lot).Watch for the SEIU types coming in by the droves west of Cumberland and on the east end of 41.Fuck Oconnor and her commie friends. The same thing was done to Lt.Garrido in 45 by the SEIU,I believe that did 20 mailings to his 4.They also did tv.
Their was a flyer out in the 41st ward about that bitch Oconnor,to bad it didnt come out a week earlier. It detailed all the shit She was involved in.Oconnor was the one who conspired with the 36th ward folks and Cullerton to appoint that left wing jagooff John Mulroe to the senate, when Jimmy Deleo(how you doing) quit.Almost immediately Mulroe who lives around Harlem and Devon voted for the 67% tax hike,it passed by one vote.Guess who he supported for alderman? You guessed it, Oconnor.Coming soon will be the tax on our pensions and 401Ks,5%.Mike MCaullife voted no on the increase.
OT:
SCC,
Are you going to address the week of events at the FOP Lodge 7 headquarters? If not, then at least let this get posted.
Michael K. Shields, newly elected and sworn in on Sunday, FOP 7 President, has fired Sidney Davis. According to the vote tally posted on the FOP website on 04 Mar 11, Davis received MORE votes than any other person on the ballot.
Others were fired as well, I guess Mikey was afraid of Sidney because of his election numbers and had to get rid of him.
Oh yeah, I do believe Sid was the only African American working down there. REAL SMART MIKE!!!
OT: So, Ramsey asked for enough money to cover the loss of his pension payments during his tenure as supe and Rahm said no.
I vote for Byrne, the younger.
Cortez Trotter, just go away!!
We cant give up on the NW side(41 AND45)Thats all thats left.In 4 years we have to come after oconnor and arena with GAVIN and GARRIDO,they represent our viewpoint and will put the POLICE and their families first.Fuck these left leaning mother fuckers, rahm, arena and oconnor.Rahm wants our pensions ,after he made 18 million in two years,in a job he was not qualified for.
Arena led a negative campaign. Garrido held true to a gentleman's election. Shame on you 45 ward residents who didn't vote for John.

And how GOOD of you to share this information AFTER the election was held.
You don't think it could have affected 29 votes?!
Fuck all these aldercreatures.
Have fun being Rahm's bitches!

Wrong.
Sid Davis was elected as Recording Secretary and is still Recording Secretary. What Sid is not is a Field Rep. Thus, he doesn't work at FOP HQ but Sid Davis is the elected recording Secretary.
Two others were brought in as Field Reps, Jim McCarthy and Saul Del Rivero. I don't know what other elected officer was replaced as Field Rep, likely Aguilar or Caparelli.
Also Mark Donahue's assistant, Mary Pat was let go as was Aguilar's secretary, Cathy.
Also, Attorney Tom Pleines was fired.
More news as it filters down.
again Fireman stuck together and got it done, Police didnt..
4/06/2011 05:28:00 AM
are u fucking stupid. Fire union backed oconner a rahm supporter. Why? Firemen should have stepped up and voted for Gavin!
Shame on you 45 ward residents who didn't vote for John.
No Shame here I voted for Arena, I'm the police, my father was the police, my mother and my two sisters along with their husbands that totals 8 votes we all live in the 45th ward, I like to think we took him over the top. Have a nice day.
It's too bad about Garrido. He fought hard.
Oconnor and the SEIU were telling the folks in 41 west of Cumberland that MORE low income housing will come at some point after the election.East of Cumberland the commie team was telling them all the things they will fix after the election. They forgot to mention what they said west of cumberland.Bottom line, oconnor is a rotten sack of shit, who cannot be trusted.By the way who were the exempts and retired exempts working the election and partys for her?

I'm union, not CPD, and worked my tail off during the election for Lt. John Garrido.
I hope that John Garrido prevails in a recount. Twenty nine votes is less than one vote per precinct, as there are 53 precincts in the 45th ward.
John Garrido is the real deal, I'd be proud to call him my alderman.
John Arena wants to cut pension benefits for existing city workers. The Garrido bashers may laugh all the way to the poorhouse.
If you live in a ward where there was an election and didn't vote...
...you are part of the problem.
Yes, please demand a recount John.
I am so glad that Sharon Dixon lost; her lawsuit about her DUI can go to hell.
Sposato, great! We need you to speak out against the Rahm taxes, the waste and keep our pensions.
"John would have protected our pensions at all costs."
Not that he has a personal interest in our pensions, He's doing it because he's an upstanding stalwart public servant. One day you suburban bred bozos will get it.
My thanks to the ignoramuses of Edison Park who elected saloon owner Mary O'Connor to alderman. I guess you were swayed by the SEIU (outfit) goons who were out hustling votes for her all day long. You deserve what you get, chumps.
I didn't vote for her either BUT she isn't a saloon owner, not that anything is wrong with owning a saloon mind you, but she owns a deli/restaurant.
Garrido is behind by twenty-nine votes?
Garrido lost, when you are behind with 100% of the vote counted you lose.
Oconner sold her soul just like mulroe. To bad more people didn't see that hopefully both are gone next election. Its to bad some people wanted change from doherty. I'm not a huge doherty guy but mary oconner come on.
There's plenty more election news at the FOP. Corner a new Board member and ask if they're sorry they won. But use a irish accent (or just slur your words). How many laws firms our we supporting?
HMMMM! Ask yourself, What is the blood relationship between O'Connor and Tom Byrne the younger? She will be Helen Schiller North!
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chibrknews-more-ballots-to-be-counted-in-tight-45th-ward-race-20110406,0,2301416.story
The candidate on the short end of a very close 45th Ward aldermanic election is going to wait until more ballots are counted Friday before deciding on a recount.
Unofficial tallies show John Arena leading John Garrido by a margin of just 29 votes out of 12,077 cast.
Arena is calling himself the winner, but at least 49 absentee and provision ballots in the race won’t be counted until Friday, Garrido said.
Garrido lost, when you are behind with 100% of the vote counted you lose.
Except, as SCC stated, the absentee ballots haven't been counted, of which there are 70+. Now get back on the short bus you reading comprehension challenged asshole and get your shine box.

I lost and I learned yesterday that might have been a good thing.
Gust Avrakotos: There's a little boy and on his 14th birthday he gets a horse... and everybody in the village says, "how wonderful. The boy got a horse" And the Zen master says, "we'll see." Two years later, the boy falls off the horse, breaks his leg, and everyone in the village says, "How terrible." And the Zen master says, "We'll see." Then, a war breaks out and all the young men have to go off and fight... except the boy can't cause his legs all messed up. and everybody in the village says, "How wonderful."
Charlie Wilson: Now the Zen master says, "We'll see."
I volunteered for john garrido. he ran an honest campaign and wanted to stay positive which he Did. arena is a jerk incompetent and will.run the ward into the ground just watch
I'm a little confused--
You LOSE the FOP election for FIRST VP and you WIN a $140,000. a yr. job.
You LOSE the FOP election for FINANCIAL SECRETARY and you WIN a $140,000. a yr. job.
You WIN the FOP election for RECORDING SECRETARY (and you're the biggest vote getter) and you LOSE your $140,000. a yr job and get a $7,200. a yr. stipend?
What part of this picture am I missing?
No Shame here I voted for Arena, I'm the police, my father was the police, my mother and my two sisters along with their husbands that totals 8 votes we all live in the 45th ward, I like to think we took him over the top. Have a nice day.
Good you can put all your pensions together and buy a van down by the river.
John Garrido was told that a recount would cost upward of $20,000.00 Tonight he is holding an online fundraiser at www.johngarrido.com
It is galling that John has to come up with the money for a recount, considering how close the vote is. He is separated by only 29 votes, with 48 absentee votes outstanding.
John Garrido also has a facebook page which will refer you to his website to donate.
Any amount over $5.00 would be appreciated.
Garrido lost, when you are behind with 100% of the vote counted you lose.

It wasn't 100% of the VOTE, it was 100% of the precincts counted.
Absentee ballots are mailed in and they are NOT counted unless they can actually have a effect on the outcome.
Most times, the outcome is clear enough that they don't NEED to ever be counted. In this case, they become critical.
Folks it is not over in the 45th Ward. There are still absentee votes and provisional votes to be counted tomorrow. Last I heard there were near 50 absentee votes to be counted. If Garrido has to request a recount which he has until Monday, April 11th end of business day to do so he will need to raise funds. With that said I am posting a link a recount will cost him approximately $20,000. I am donating because I believe in his ability to RUN & REVITALIZE the 45th ward from Six Corners to Super Dawgs! AND I really don’t want the SEIU as our next Alderman. If you can spare even $5 please consider donating. It is tax deductible! You can donate at his website via pay pal or write and check mail or drop off. http://www.johngarrido.com/ Thanks for reading this far and thanks for supporting him.

Pretty soon he'll be on top of you, trying to take your pension.
Maybe I'll take a walk to pedestrian friendly Sears at Six Corners with the 40% of vacant storefronts.
Welcome to Arenaville!!!
Just donated $25 to John Garrido via his website.
Wish I had done that before the election but I was helping out Sposato in my neighborhood.
Good Luck John!
