- Concealed carry would have put an end to the band of thugs that robbed all the passengers on the 95th Street bus and then jumped off at 95th & Kostner last week. Must have been ten squads (someone got word to police somehow), don't know if they caught them.

ride the CTA at your own risk! i worked special employment a few times with the CTA and i was lucky if i could obtain a radio that worked. you look at New York mass transit system and Chicago's is a big joke.

I dont have any facts...But I say its do-able, given the unarmed civilian sheepdogs in Illinois. All they need is hoodies to mask faces from the cameras. If a civilian upped a pistol and took out the badguys, no doubt he would be the one screwed over by the system. Aint Illinois a wonderful state ? Its a target rich environment for any thug with a gun and a face mask.
I am a big concealed carry advocate but I don't think it would have stopped a band of thugs who already got the drop on you on a bus full of people. I don't know if it actually happened but in an instance like this I would just give up my cash and be done with it.

I don't look like a copper, I look like a nerdy accountant. Imagine the look on a certain shithead's face when I pulled a Bernard Goetz on him (not firing though) when I had to take the red line home really late when my car was in the shop.
I wish I had a camera attached to my glasses when he "asked" for $5 and insinuated he'd hurt me if I didn't give him anything. I pulled my 5 shot out and pointed it right at him and he ran like a sissy when the doors opened.
Concealed carry is needed and it has been shown all over the country that it works and there isn't carnage in the streets from a legally carried pistol. Just people who defended themselves.

* The Illinois Supreme court stepped in and declared yesterday that out-of-staters do not need a FOID card if they travel in Illinois with their guns. The non-residents couldn’t get a FOID card anyway, since only Illinois residents qualify. They still need to make sure their guns are permitted in their home states, however…
The case stems from an incident in 2005 when a Indiana man was arrested for a having a gun in a closed backseat armrest in his car.
He was charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon because he didn’t have a FOID card and he didn’t have the gun in a case.
The court ruled that since he had a permit to carry a concealed weapon in Indiana he didn’t need a FOID card as well.

I think the point is that if the animals think that citizens on the bus might be carrying, they might not be so bold.

CTA has bus and train lines in something like 50 suburbs...it's not a city agency, it's chartered by the State. There employess can live anywhere they want.

When I took the training last fall and filed for the permit as an ILLINOIS resident the instructor said Utah had issued 143,000 non resident concealed carry permits nationwide. Imagine that Utah has enough faith in the Constituion and the 2nd ammendement that they will allow me and 143,000 other non Utah residents to carry concealed in Utah.
The State of Utah appoved instructors said it is valid under reciprocity rules in 31 states. I have a Utah permit. The recent Illinois Supreme Court decision together with the McDonald case have moved concealed carry one step closer to reality. It's clear that the ridiculous Illinois rules on concealed carry are being eroded little by little. To Quinn, Daley and Rahm: Join the 21st Century. Concealed Carry works. Wisconsin Governor said he will sign the Concealed Carry Bill soon. 3 states (AZ, Vermont & Alaska do not even require a Concealed Carry permit. You can simply do it unless you're in one of the categories that prohibit it. Once Wisconsin has it This will leave ONLY Illinois with it's
over reaching gun laws. Join the IL State Rifle Assoc and help fund this initiative.

Okay, this is a blog for the police. If a civilian happens to drop by, it is what it is. What it isn't, though, is a public relations vehicle to make you feel better about us.
What you don't get, and you can't 'get it' unless you actually DO this job, is, as much as we may vent, we ARE the ones who race through traffic to help you. We ARE the ones who throw our fork down on the plate and run from the restaurant to help you. We ARE the ones who kick the door when smoke is pouring from your windows and low-crawl in, to pull out your toddler or your puppy.
Yes, we vent here; we are demoralized and understaffed and underappreciated and underequipped, but we will ALWAYS be there, putting ourselves at risk for those who need help. It's who we are; it's how we're made.
Idiots in Illinois sent me a form to renew my FOID card to my address in Indiana. It clearly states on the form that I should write in my Illinois D/L number and the county I live in. Glad I'm out of that state.

I used to see cars from "Securitas," with a CTA logo on them as well, doing CTA station checks along the Blue Line -- if the "guard" could manage to heave themselves up over the curb and waddle over. They're gone, and I see Oak Park PD doing the checks now out there. Contract must have expired or something.
Like someone here said, the Corvette-motor cars from the old CPD CTA detail -- white with the red & blue stripe down the side -- are long gone...
Just wondering if the streets of Chicago will soon look like this (see link below) as the weather now begins to break.

It happened on 95TH ST. Nobody said anything about CHICAGO. And it happened right in front Petey's Bungalow. Everyone in the restaurant watched out the windows as the little darlings took off. Reportedly four were caught.

We say it would be better if The Police weren't politicized into into a social service organization with guns and allowed to hunt down bad people to lawfully put in jail or six feet under to maintain public peace and order so people can walk the streets free from fear.
We have a particular fondness for the ferocious and common sense intent of ILCS especially in regard to the duties of sworn peace officers.
Chicago is reaping it's just rewards and we laugh as people dance and cry as the deep, dark doo-doo overflows into their blahniks and birkenstocks.
