OEMC Scandal

  • Hundreds of thousands of dollars were wasted, employees were placed on hidden payrolls and notebook computers went missing at the city department that oversees the city 911 center, according to an audit released today by Inspector General Joseph Ferguson. All of those issues occurred because “internal controls were not adequate to prevent waste and misconduct,” according to the audit of the Office of Emergency Management and Communication, which also oversees the city’s 311 call center.

The audit alleges a series of costly errors, saying some have been addressed while others still need attention
History buffs will recall that under one of the previous administrators, OEMC was a hotbed of missing cash, crooked contracts and incompetent management. Does anyone remember the name connected to most of that under-reported disaster? Three syllables. Rhymes with "luberman."

Just another in a long line of departments used to hide political heavyweights stealing a paycheck.

Aw, jeez, as i just said to someone, "Having OEMC between you and the police is like having an HMO between you and your doctor."

Soaking up money, slowing everything down, and serving no good purpose...

All this crap is coming out of the woodwork as Daley cleans out his desk. Lots of surprises for the Ballerino, huh?

Yeah, sure, Trotter's the guy to become Police Supt. after what he did here...

Winner at $146 thousand...Erasumos Berrios, related to the guy that's gonna raise the property tax cuz you know, the Police are " greedy "
Then Quinn hires a political contributor of big, big money to his campaign...story on the CHGO. Breaking news blog.

These kind of things will trickle out for years, and guess what the company line will be... Mayor Daley was UNAWARE that this was occurring and is disappointed that the guy he put in charge had allowed this to happen during his watch.

No "investigation" will EVER implicate the Stuttering Prick.

OEC opened in 1995. In the ensuing 16 years, this organization has suffered through no less than 10 people in the top spot. That figures to approximately 1 1/2 years service for each of them, but it is actually less because there were many acting directors in there, also. It is no wonder this organization is in chaos. RMD used it as a toy.

OK, good, so when will something really be done? When will the offenders go to jail and their bank accounts and assets seized? You can investigate anything till the Cows come home, but if it isn't followed up with results and punishment, it is then just a waste of Taxpayers dollars.

In order to recoup these losses caused by Trotter-Huberman, the ICC (Quinn-Madigan) will increase the
9-1-1 surcharge to $9.50 monthly per land/cellular line. Internet and cellular entertainment surcharges will increase to $ 11.50 per line.
In addition, only certain OEMC managers will be suspended for 3 days.
The response we can expect but hasn't come yet;
Huberman-Trotter: " I dunno".

Thats always the problem when political hacks run a department... but we all know that. The waste is incredible.

One of the reasons OT is out of control is because of the refusal of supervisors to take action against their friends who are the abusers. The medical roll is too high and if they come to work they dont pull their weight. OT is used to carry the dogs and supervisors dont write up the assholes while the good workers are getting shit on.

OEMC was a great hiding place for the who's who of patronage. It is a joke with a bunch of inept people there. I worked there for one year in a lower position and surprise I was hired legit-probably one of the very few there. I could not take it with all the incompetence there by those are in charge. God forbid Chicago has a real terroist threat. By the way, loads of clout baby cops/fire there too, not doing a whole lot.
The IG knows its alot worse than he's saying.
Go visit any other OEMC and you'll see the difference-I have been to NY,DC,Boston,Nashville and a few others and there is a more serious tone about them.
And those OEMCs don't even have half the cameras Chicago does.
Also, tours are given regularly to Chinese,Middle Easterners, etc etc. no secrets in Chicago, lol. Other OEMCs are like Fort Knox.

Hell, you can't get Daley off the TV all of a sudden -- the son-of-a-bitch ran and hid during the blizzard, but now him and Ald. Sandy Jackson were running around town today, taking all kinds of credit for the "46 schools" Daley says he opened in his Sanctuary City.

At your expense.

For the benefit of those who don't belong here.

Don't do me any more favors, huh, guy?

The shameless Sandy Jackson -- you saw her di-recting things up in the cab of the snowplow this past winter, making sure her block was being cleared to her Imperial Satisfaction -- is involved in this summer's CloutFest music venue out at USS South Works.

Has anyone told the Chicago Police Department about this two-day mass event yet? I mean, they might want to detail a couple of cars over there, maybe even a sergeant...

I think they're really scared that "190 North," so to speak, is getting overrun -- no place left for people like Maggie to shop. I think a light bulb came on there, and USS'll be the new Grant Park for lower-class, dangerous, dirty events, as they see them.

They sure as hell can't build thousands of condos there anytime soon -- as the fifty-year development plan predicates.

They'll never say that, of course, but you can better believe they eat lunch with the Boul Mich crowd and the Water Tower people are bitching like anything about the "wilding" and flash-mob store ripoffs.

I KNOW I read something very good here on the board before this even happened -- I don't know if it was SCC or someone else, but it was a description of Rahm Emanuel's Hollywood friends and specifically his connections in the mass-music business.

We seem to be making what you might call a "smooth transition" here as far as power, influence, and profit.

This being Chicago, whatever is actually happening is invariably even more devious and convoluted than a normal person might be able to imagine.

Substitute "patients" for "taxpayers," and you've just described an HMO.

"Health management."

"Emergency management."

Didn't Daley just sell the city recycling program to "Waste Management" while we were looking the other way for a minute?

Management.

OT - WTF?

Family, Friends Stunned By Officer's Death

Probe under way after cop put in coma after accidently inhaling cleaner dies

Kevin Robinson's family and friends were stunned early last month when the 15-year Chicago police veteran was hospitalized after they say he accidently inhaled a cleaning substance at the Morgan Park Police District station.

Robinson's lungs all but shut down, forcing doctors at Advocate Trinity Hospital to place the 42-year-old in a medically induced coma until he died Monday, his family said.

DING!

U.S. Steel South Works site will be Grant Park South!

Good thoughts on that one...

We laughed our asses off when shorty was yammering & farting about building homes on that environmental monstrosity...

That is a Superfund eligible site to our best recollection and it is throughly unfit for human habitation due to the steel manufacturing wastes in the soil.

But shorty wants to keep his construction buddies fat for the next 50 years...

Wonder if they'll dig him up to kick him in his ass when they start dying from stirring the pot of toxic soup.

Heh... Greedy bastards. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people.

A new "southern" Grant Park will be just the ticket during the summer months...
