Another Piece of the Puzzle

Chicago has always been a political town, trading on favors and taking care of the connected. In that way, the supernintendo seems like a perfect fit. In fact, the beginning of this tale is mysteriously similar to J-Fled's actions to protect the FBI following a whistleblower allegation that the agency had failed to heed warnings and take precautions prior to 9/11.

The entire comment can be read at this link here at 6/27/2011 01:34:00 AM. We'll summarize the interesting parallels below:
  • [...] McCarthy had lied previously and denied reports that he had been reprimanded by the NYPD after he had gotten into an physical altercation with a off duty NYPD Sergeant at a cop bar in the Bronx on City Island the night he was appointed deputy commissioner a few years back. On a separate incident McCarthy who was also out drunk again on City Island one evening was shooting out street lights with other police officers one of whom was McCarthy’s brother whom is a New York State Trooper. When McCarthy was confronted by an NYPD Sgt concerning the shooting incident McCarthy had retaliated against the officer later on especially when the Sgt. insisted on pursuing the shooting incident as a criminal matter. Needless to say the incident was quietly swept under the rug by the NYPD Raymond W. Kelly let Garry McCarthy skate after the New Jersey incident

So Gary was back up to his old tricks again. He involved himself in another car stop, this one involved the arrest of a relative in Manhattan for DWI. When a cop on the midnight tour of the Manhattan North Task Force pulled the relative over, the relative telephoned McCarthy but the cop refused to speak to him. Interestingly enough almost identical to his daughter Kyla's incident. Instead, after consulting with his Sergeant and Lieutenant, the cop arrested the relative of McCarthy. McCarthy was not happy. He began calling the borough commander, Assistant Chief Raymond Diaz, to have the cop, Sergeant and Lieutenant transferred. Behind-the-scenes negotiations with a union trustee ultimately produced a back-door apology.

Only a few months ago McCarthy again involved himself in the Manhattan North Task Force car stop. This time, it involved a friend of his who was summonsed by a cop for talking on his cell phone while driving. When the cop asked McCarthy’s friend why he had been talking while driving, the friend answered,“Because I got a fucking phone call.” Again, McCarthy was not happy, he attempted to have the cop transferred. The cop, however, comes from a police family. A relative is an inspector. So far there have been no transfers. Neither McCarthy nor the Task Force Captain, William Crossan would comment on the case.

    [...] Ray Maitland, FL
So going after people who register complaints against his behavior? Check!

Try to have underlings transferred when they write his relatives? Check!

Attempt the exact same thing again if they attempt to write his friends? Check!

Having his behavior covered up again and again and again where he learns nothing and repeats the same embarrassing nonsense? Check!

Haven't we lived through a few of these scandals already? Where all the warning flags were up, people in power knew what was coming, incidents were minimized, hushed up, covered for, and in the end, the Department suffered irreparable harm at the hands of problems that should have been dealt with years previously?

Yeah, we can think of a few incidents ourselves right off the tops of our heads. How about the readers?

I just keep thinking we sent Frank Limon to whatever city he went to ... and they hated him.

Not that we hated Limon here, I don't think that was the case. But he didn't go over too well where he went. I just wonder what NYPD thinks of McCarthy. All in all, I still kind of like McCarthy. Seems like a real cop. But we'll see.

Ask yourselves..."Why would the same people who scream about banning guns, be giving felons who carry and use illegal guns little or no jail time?"
I think it is because they have no intention on stopping the killing of "our black and brown children". If the killing stopped, noone would gather around their soapbox.
There is a much bigger agenda. The black and brown children don't scare these ultra-liberal socialists. They are ultimately afraid of educated, gun carrying patriots who believe in the U.S. Constitution (which they want to destroy.) Remember Obama turning on the flag?
It's the same reason they love illegals from Mexico coming here, many of whom are fugitives. What other purpose do they serve?
A guy like McNutjob is the larvae on a frogs legs. He will go wherever they take him. It is his responsibility to blame guns for inner city kids killing each other. It is not in his job description to prevent them from getting killed. And, that people of St. Sabina, is real government sponsored racism.

Any guy they would of chosen in todays times will be a political hack. We should all know that positions are not rewarded by good officers but by political clout and making everybody hear what they want to hear. What sup is going to stand in front of crowds and blame the #1 reason for crime. Bad parents Bad parents and Bad parents. My dad new where i was growing up everynight and if I wasnt home Id get a fist to the skull.

Reaaly? Because he's new (only 3 weeks)and a political hack, he should be forgiven? How about he just shuts the fuck up and gives a little speach about working together and all that other mumbo jumbo, as he avoids the real reason for that communities troubles.
Let's just say, I don't see nightly shootouts in communities like Orland Park.

I believe you hit the nail on the head. The liberls don't really give a shit about the "poor disadvantaged" people. Their real agenda is to keep them ignorant by allowing them to destroy themselves and everything they touch. If they keep getting a slap on the wrist time and time again when they commit serious crimes, what incentive do they have to ever change their behavior ? The obvious answer is none ! The libs have the ACLU, the Jews have AIPAC, and God fearing, educated gun owners who believe in America and the constitution have the NRA, one of the only non liberal organizations powerful enough to effect change in this country. OT--

Channel 5 had a story on 10 pm. news last night, caller from beach on Memorial day said a gang of people were beating and kicking a woman after knocking her down.

Said these gang bangers were defecating on the beach like animals.

Also called out Rahm and McStupe, saying they were trying to protect their reputations, and that denial did not equal protection.

This chick looked pissed! Looks like we won a lake-front lib over to the bright side.

Channel 5 news at 10 last night had one of the 911 callers from North Ave beach on Memorial Day on the TV. They played parts of her call. She said they were "animals" on the beach during her call. The continued implication is that Rahm and McCarthy were lying about closing the beach.

The St. Sabina's tape is national news, with it being called an incoherent rant at times.

The question is this: How soon before David Axelrod calls Emanuel and tells him to launch McKnucklehead? I'd guess McCarthy has already been told to shut the f*ck up and only say anything in public that has been approved by the 5th floor.

The guy has quickly become a political liability to Rahm. I'd guess 60 days and he's gone, probably to a federal spot out of the way so as to not make it look like Rahm screwed up in picking him.

Regarding, Limon comment, he trucked out of River Forest in a hurry but RF Board supposedly liked him. It was a nice retirement gig, versus New Haven's tough assignment - a poor city (despite Yale's presence), high crime rate, and drug port, coupled with gangs (Mafia, plus street gangs). Might make him long for the bucolic streets of River Forest again.

I do not know McCarthy and I am now retired, so I have nothing personal here. But, thata said, reporting these incidents at this point in time seems to be a part of a plan to discredit McCarthy. I can tell you from my coming on the job in 1968 to my retirement in 2004, that many, and I said many, exempt members to include the superintendent of police have been involved in incidents that would have cost them their jobs if they came to public light. Everything from burglary, to frequenting gambling houses, to having many girlfriends to pressing business for free tickets and dinners to DWI, to sexual harrassment, to punishing police officers for doing their jobs which effected clout heavy people, to destroying records and documents, to beating their wives and the beat goes on. The department covered them up and the police officers on the job who knew about these incidents also kept silent. And, yes, I was one of those. I felt it was useless to say anything. The department had the power to crush me as they did to so many others. I just wanted my pension. Give this guy a chance. It might be the last chance to change the culture of the department. You can't do any worse.

6/28/2011 09:09:00 AM

Now Cpd is filled with a bunch of jags that open their mouths because of pure jealously. I know a LT on this job who is a great example of this. People like him never move ahead in life because they are to bust keeping count on everyone else. Worry about yourself

It was so classic I couldn't believe it. She, a mere citizen, called them both out.

Wish you could link it here.

ok I admittedly was pissed by the st sabina BULLSHIT, but cmon guys there isnt a guy or girl here that wouldnt try to help a family member or friend if they could. None of us want to see friends and family get hurt so we try to help when and where we can. The threatening to demote or dump people is bullshit but making a call to see if he can help isnt any different than any one of us would do. He got pissed when a guy wrote his daughter. Quite frankly if my daughter was apologetic and respectful to the officer i would be pissed if a copper wrote her too. Its called professional courtesy. We all know the general public hates us and we only have each other, when we lose that its all over. And quite frankly i think we have reached that point

OT: SCC: Surprised no mention of this. Check out the numbers. Our state/country is broke, but 3 billion a year for food stamps in illinois is ok.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-ill-gets-bonus-for-efficient-food-stamp-program-20110621,0,1296210.story

862,243 purple cards X $288 (average amount) = $248,325,984 per month in free money. Keep that in mind when the state complains about being in the hole. Cut these mutts off for a few months and we're out of the red.

If you were arrested, you didn't want the police to call your police dad. You'd rather stay in the lock up than see your father, because the latter would be worse than being put in front of a judge.

Speaking of second chances, tired retreads and people named "Gary", the new head of OEM, the one with the plan to pray for no snow, also found redemption after failing in his past position.

From 2010 news reports, "The head of the Federal Protective Service will be replaced following a series of investigative reports over major security lapses in government buildings.

Gary Schenkel, a retired Marine Corps lieutenant who has served as FPS director since March 2007, will be reassigned to a Department of Homeland Security policy office where he will work as deputy assistant secretary for state and local law enforcement, DHS spokeswoman Amy Kudwa told FoxNews.com."

In commenting on the reports and Schenkel's leadership, Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, said the GAO reports represented "about the broadest indictment of an agency in the federal government I've heard."

Don't you see?

If the politicians were to stop the "government sponsored racism" then politicians would lose their argument for all those shiny security perks provided by the taxpayers!

We can't let this crisis go to waste.

No, Let's use it for body guards and drivers and cars and stuff.

Shove it all down the taxpayers throat.

Who cares if three and seven year old's get shot in the park and five year old's in your own ward get sexually molested - they're nobody -- they can't even vote yet!

They have no lobbyist, there's no campaign donations or money for four figure per plate campaign dinners coming from them or their parents and family's.

Fuck it, these ARE good photo op's however that's all, photo op's that we can use to ratchet up the racial fear and that fear can be used for more security for me..!

yeah isn't that it?

I'm kinda thinking that if any aldermen feel that their job is so high profile that they are endangered and in need of special security -- that the cities Mayor and /or the taxpayers should correct that and remove and re-distribute some of that so-called power -- we can not afford it.

Take the power away and then the person is no longer the target. That's all.

Refuse to act and how much longer before the other 49 alderman want theirs too?

It's discrimination you know? Cant you just see all of them with the equivalent sum of several hundred officers/body guards. An entire precinct worth.... and like the ex-Mayor. the cities taxpayers expected to fund it into perpetuity not just for them but their entire family as well.

My kids have been stopped several times by ISP, CPD and some suburban agencies. They were polite and respectful. Twice they received citations and I never beefed and went to court. The officer helped out in court and dismissed. Is it that hard to expect your children to show respect to on duty PO's? Have times changed that much that even PO's kids are pricks?

1968 as a 10 year-old, was playing around in a Chicago alley screaming for the fun of hearing my own echo and a CPD patrolman came running to the scream and gave me the what for when I told him what I was doing.

That day forward, I always gave the police respect, even when I thought one was being a an asshole (a rare occurance).

Years later, I'm pulled over for speeding in a suburb and the patrolman takes me in to the station 'cause he was out of citations.

I guess it occured to him I was being uncharacteristically respectful.

Walking in to the station, he said, "Is there anyone that can vouch for you?". I replyed, "The Deputy Chief" (in-law). Stunned he looked at me and said, "Why didnt you tell me that before I called it in. I can't do anything about it now". I said, "I'm guilty".

There have been a few other times over the decades I've made my presence known to patrolman (minor stuff) and the dressing down that cop gave me on Grand Ave. has served me well.

You men and women in LE have a hard enough job. Even on your bad day's when your at you worst you deserve respect from citizens.
